Default Need RP / Possible IC Conflict Advice

So my party and I have evidence that demonic forces in league with a corrupted Silver Flame official are planning to break someone evil out of a high-security prison. Call that Person A. We don't yet know for sure the exact identity of Person A, but we have a guess. We also don't know if our theoretical Person A is actually in the prison.

We've also been asked to break Person B out of prison by an NPC. All we know about Person B is their cell number, but the NPC swears up and down that this person doesn't belong there. This NPC is not evil (or doesn't ping as evil) but has not told us anything else - apparently because they don't entirely trust us.

My character is an LG Crusader; a Knight Templar of the Silver Flame. The party's plan is for me to demand entrance based on the evidence of the impending jailbreak attempt (our theoretical Person A was put in the jail by the Silver Flame) and demand to see that Person A is still imprisoned.

    So far so good.

The party also proposes to nonlethally incapacitate our escort in a way that looks like an accident, sneak away to discover the identity of Person B (and possibly free them) and return in time to "recover" with the escort. The other party members are Good but I think I'm the only Lawful one.

I don't think my character would be thrilled by this. Not only does it endanger what he feels is our most important task (prevent Person A's escape) but he doesn't like the idea of using the authority of the Silver Flame to gain entrance, only to betray that trust and stage a jailbreak. The party has pointed out that not all prisoners are criminals, and that seems to be true, but if the jailbreak is discovered and traced back to us, even if we escape, he feels this will damage the reputation of the Flame and his standing with the Church.

Any ideas for how to make this palatable to my character, either through rationalization or an alteration? I suggested (OOC) that they could just not tell my character about the second part of the plan, but do they want him to be incapacitated if (when) the demons attack? And what happens if he finds out down the road?

Our DM has pointed out that we shouldn't sweat too, too much over our plan since we have no idea what the adventure plot entails, but even so...

    Plan:
You get access to check on Person A from the Church. This access is extended to your companions.
While in the prison, you all check on Person A.
Then the rest of the party decides to investigate(merely investigate) Person B. They leave you to watch Person A since now would be an ideal time for the corrupt official to strike. You have a means of calling them if something starts to go down.
    [character knowledge ends]
After investigating Person B for any trickery/deception. The rest of the party betrays the trust of you and the Church. They(or as small a subset as possible) extract Person B. The rest were sent back to "report" to you before the extraction begins.
You learn what happened after you rejoin the extractors outside. At this point you are hurt that they betrayed your trust. However you can see the situation more clearly than the Church. You conclude that they did it with the best of intentions and that only time will tell the wisdom/folly of their actions.

Note: This plan requires the ability to slip away from the escort without incapacitating them.

How much you wanna bet Person B is actually Person A, and the supposed plot to spring them involves tricking you guys into doing it? That's where my money is.

There is no reason at all to trust the NPC who gave you this mission. It is obviously a trap. Don't help them.

Get ALL the data the Prison has about the convict. Why was he sentenced? How long is he kept there? Do you get an interrogation with the convict? If there are no or lacking data on the guy you should start questioning the authorities. LG means you obey the laws but not necessarily anyone involved in the matter. If you have a slight hint that something is very wrong in that prison investigate the matter with trustworthy NPCs from the Silver Flame.

Also diplomancing/intimidating the convict might be a good idea.

You could just have your character not cooperate, or even sabotage the party's efforts. Sometimes, acting against your party is the only in-character option. Like when Durkon refused to escape with his team from jail because he thought it was wrong.

That's what I thought. However, IC his character has little to no reason to believe that, does he?

There's no OOC knowledge involved in the deduction. He has all the same information I do, unless he's unaware of the existence of nondetection magic (available to any 5th level wizard), and even then non-evil isn't the same as trustworthy--the guy could be a neutral catspaw who's a front for the actual evil guy, for example.

Basically you have zero reason to trust this guy and every reason to mistrust him. In fact, trusting him would be downright stupid. Plus, he's the one who came to you. It's not like you went begging for his help. Tell him he can give you more information and some proof that he's telling the truth, or he can bugger off and find some other patsy to do his jailbreak for him. If the Silver Flame is really corrupt, then there should be no shortage of volunteers.
