Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Talk to the people who were running the plot. Ask for a way to bring back your character.
You could also bring the PC into a random location, as if he/she were a new character.
Though, as someone who doesn't see plotcloning as particularly jarring, I may not be seeing your problems well.Last edited by goto124; 2015-02-28 at 09:00 PM.

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
BCM, I posted out of order in The Hunting Grounds.
I apologize, but I need Orphedysseus to release the spell on Aric, and I wasn't sure how that would work if I posted after you, since I wouldn't expect Aric to be on the forefront of his mind.#27Sigatars

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Hello everyone.
Where can a character of mine (Fixer) buy strong protection against magic?

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Hehehe What do you have in mind, then? An object that has the opposite effect?
Also, are there any robots PCs in the Nexus that Fixer can get real friendly with?

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
hey, since combat doesn't seem to come up as much as I'd want, can we make some sort of Arena thread? y'know, an Arena where characters can fight each other in duels, to a set conclusion that won't involve death? do you think that sort of thing would work here? and if that won't, is there any other way for me to start seeing more combat?

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
I have a random idea that probably won't go well with a lot of players.
A character who dislikes family. He sees it as a lame narrative device (in-universe, yea it's 4th-wall-breaking). If he sees a child, he'll start ranting about how authors put in children to be morality pets and nothing more since they're somehow extra-special, double points if they're ophans. He'll go on about how his family is essentially a bunch of stupid or evil people, yet he has to keep saving and protecting them because 'they're your family after all!' and not doing so throws him in the deep ends of cosmic Evil. Can this person be Good, incidentally? What if he's right about his family being evil?

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Heh....
Overall, I can't actually argue - far too many authors do exactly that.
Character would be met with utter befuddlement at the Temple, where "daily life" is actually the point and children are expected (if not outright encouraged by the powers of 'Shipping that reside there :D )

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Trouble is that many narratives -and people, and players- do view family as sacred and special. And it requires a very metagaming way of seeing things, which isn't exactly the best way to be justified in the eyes of those who believe they live in a real reality.
'Why did you make my niece a damsel in distress? If you're giving me a lame excuse to enter a dungeon there had better be good loot!'
"My dad's the BBEG, and I will have no remorse in killing him, stupid author!'
What is the Temple, by the way?Last edited by goto124; 2015-03-04 at 10:21 PM.

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Ah, The Temple of Inari, which I have run here for the past nine years.
It is an actual, purposeful, RPG Temple - where the daily life of what most adventurers see as a vending machine is lived out.

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Speaking of character creation, I've been thinking of a Don Quixote type character. One who is convinced he's a great hero, with the name to match (KILLINGYOUGUY or something), though he lacks the skill to back that up. He'll probably get beaten so many times one'd wonder how he's not dead yet. I wonder how that'd go in the nexus.

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
lIke Duck says, hunting grounds can be a place for combat, just search for a person to controll a monster.
If I remember right there have been a few arena events. Most died.
In my opinion it's best if you search for people to fight. You can talk to them , that you don't want your char be killed.Grammer is my declared deadly enemy!

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
So, I try to get my chars back into roleplaying again. Therefor I choose to concentrate on a few of them for now. They are either in no scene or the scene is deadtimed.
One char is my AMEN char, trying to get back some business into AMEN. If things go on there should be something to do for the good gys as well.^^
The other one would be Fade. I would like him to experience emotions, since that's something he leaks.
The last char I would fokus is the kitsunegirl. She was stuck in KINDER and right now I don't want her possesed anymore.
I will look over my chars in HALO and Vigil for the split, but right now this event is deadtimed I guess.
A description of my chars can be found in the Signatur.Grammer is my declared deadly enemy!

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Arenas have been tried and generally don't last long. See the linked thread. But you can always try again. I would recommend, instead, the Hunting Grounds, which are less formal, but basically all about fighting anyway, with a little bit of more normal rp in Huntside. And just ask in this OoC thread for fight scenes. Some people hate them >.> but many of us will totally join them.
The universe is a hack writer. I'm just curious how he acknowledges his own existence?
Can such a person be good? Sure. Just as easily could be evil. The morality of family is a subject worth much debate.
I know our schedules don't match up, but if you're will willing to tolerate the slow pace, after tomorrow I could open up a scene with you.
Several of Leah would be interested in seeing the kitsunegirl again.
Doubt I'd have anything for the AMEN person but Fade I could work with.

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Schedules never really match with me, maybe it has something to do with living on the other side of the planet and a jop that has quiet unusual work times. (At work right now). Also I got scenes with Alexandrian that sometimes got months between posts.^^
Several of Leah.. if I remeber right that were the 7 guys sharing one mind? It was fun and I only remember it ended with your char falling into mud face first.
I should warn you, Fade as I play him can be rather annoying, at least thats what I guess people became talking to him.Grammer is my declared deadly enemy!

The Colosseum thread, I assume magic using characters aren't allowed to fight there? Or can they, so long as they aren't caught?

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
I wonder, has any PC ever died in this part of the forums?
What would people think of a PC who respawns? Yes it's kind of video-gamey. She could take her clothes, equipment, and other stuff with her on death. Or all her items could be left on the corpse where she died, allowing others to loot them.
If she gets back fast enough she'll re-arrive naked and watching people say 'dibs on her boots!'Last edited by goto124; 2015-03-06 at 03:51 AM.

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Many PCs have died.
The Hunting Grounds have a respawn mechanic and nobody much seems to mind. And characters around here just seem not to want to stay dead.
For the fact that a character doesn't stay dead to have that humor value, they would have to go in harm's way quite often.
Hmm. My characters are perhaps more still-alive than they should be...

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Respawn mechanic in the hunting grounds? Oh goodie!
I've always wanted to write/RP a death scene.
Think about it: emotional death scene between two friends/lovers/teammates/colleagues, and the next day they're alive again. "Don't you be putting me through that, son!"

Re: OoC 47: Putting the K in Chaos
Problem is mind rot as the price of death there. Fighters would benefit I guess, I'm not so sure about mages though.
@Morty, So Thariza wasn't at all affected by Orphedysseus' pain and pleasure AOE blast? I understand not getting hit by the pain part since he made sure only the foes near him would get hit. As for the pleasure part, He made sure that hit the battlefield.
