Oooo. When Kirk's so flat and formal you know it's bad. Tiny starts to wave at the pair of them, and perks up a little with surprise as he gets a peck on the cheek. A very tiny one. He brings up a hand to rub the attended cheek and his mouth twitches up in a grin.

"Yeah! We should party sometime!" Tina says, before turning back to the drow. She follows them into Kirk's dorm. "Kirk," Tina chides, "You really must stop embarrassing us like this."

Outside MERC

Filii approaches MERC, hoping he doesn't trigger any traps. He stops a few feet away from the door, assuming that if something were trapped, it would be the door. Hello? Could someone help me? I was hoping to join MERC. Filii looks as if he came to MERC straight from a job in the military. He has a large gun strapped across his back, but manages to have a peaceful stance despite it.

Provided he approaches the base in the mountains, the door will slide open for him silently, inviting him in. There are no traps or defences to be seen.

Anyone looking should be able to find Xun carefully flipping through a book on arcane runes, a bowl of irish cream sitting nearby. The room itself is very nicely set up for non-humanoids, with sturdy shelves and steps and other places for those with four paws to relax.

Filii knows that when a door opens for you, there is an even higher chance there is a trap, but Filii figures a mercenary organization wouldn't set that kind of trap at an entrance where aspiring members might show up. He approaches the door, cautiously and calmly. He steps inside and looks around at the room, and at anyone in there.

Arteitheo looks around at his new room, checking the window for the view and ease of access in and out (just in case).

When he's finished, he'll take off his shoes, use them to prop the door open and have a nap. I think that's about everything for now, unless Krayger has an actual job for him.

"Hello, Xun. Greetings." Fixer says as he approaches Xun and sits down beside her. "As it turned out, Kirk wants to be left alone, which I can understand. There was something weird about the one called Tiny, though." Felicity doesn't say a word (?) but instead plops on Xun's head, scratching her ears.

As Filii enters, he'll find himself in a circular room, with several tables and armchairs around a central fireplace. In one of those armchairs he'll see a short, brown-skinned goblin, who can be seen in more detail in his player's avatar. He's resting his feet on a silver-furred wolf sleeping in front of the chair.

"How may the Corporation help you?"

Filii smiles at the man and steps closer. Hello. I was hoping I could join MERC. You see, I just came out of the army and I was hoping I could get a job here, since it seems to be a place where my experience and skill set would be most useful.

"Right," the goblin says. "I'm Dipsnig Razortooth, the boss here. What skills do you have to offer us?"

Filii smiles. I have a plethora of skills. I am good in battle, but I know when I shouldn't fight. I am good with tactics. I can create battle strategies for almost any situation. Along with jobs that require fighting, I can be stealthy. I spent some of my military time as a sniper. All sorts of fighting styles from martial arts to gun fights were taught to me. I can wield many weapons, and can adapt to situations.

"That sounds promising, but in order to become a full-time MERC member, you need to present some tangible proof of your skill," Dipsnig says. "You can purchase our license and perform a job, or you can do something else to impress me and my lieutenants. It's your choice."

Filii pauses to think for a moment before responding. What other kind of thing could I do to impress you? If there is a mission currently available I could do that. Otherwise, I would prefer not to wait.

Xun purrs ever so softly at the scritch, just for a moment. She's back in her normal little kitty form. You staying here or in town?

Someone might notice that in addition to various feline amenities, there's rather a lot of books on various shelves. Subject matter seems to be mostly magical theory of various sorts, though an observant eye might notice none of them are for innate casters.

"Girls are a little easier to keep around, probably," Dipsnig says. "On the other hand, with a boy you wouldn't have to worry about him getting pregnant," he adds.

"Sure, uh..." Valente looks at the pups... He can't remotely tell which are girls or boys or... anything really. They're cute, though! "Do you recommend a boy or girl? I'm not sure if there's anything we should keep in mind." He can't help but sound uncertain.

Kirk's mouth is a thin line, but he doesn't protest. "Yes, I'm sure we will talk again." He says to Fixer. "Now excuse me." He nods and turns to go back into his room. There's nothing to stop Dena and Tina from following.

Fixer says nothing in response to Kirk. "Let's go, Fel."

"Alrighty! Fixer and I have to go now, but we'll all get to catch up, okayyyy?" She pecks both Tinay and Dena on the cheek, then flies after Fixer as he makes his way to Xun.

Dena is surprised at the little kiss but doesn't lose face. Fey (or whatever she was) were not known for their respect of personal space. "See you later!" The drow waves and smiles at the two before she joins 'Tiny' and Kirk inside his room. "So that happened. Interesting people." She comments briefly before she turns to the other drow. "But what did you need help with exactly? You did hear about the union possibly looking into Riverside right?"

"Your choice Val." Astrana says with a smile before turning back her attention to the children again. "But maybe you don't want to be completely surrounded by girls." She adds without looking at him.

((Ah, idea! That would make this before Fixer's adventures in Planeside.))

"I don't know yet. I'm thinking of going out exploring for a bit." Fixer looks around the room. "Nice room. I see you're a reader too... A reader of magic." That last word said in a dark-sounding tone. He scans the books some more, all he can see is 'magic! magic!! magic!!!'

"Fixer doesn't like magic! Or didn't before he found me! Or maybe still doesn't!" Felicity explains, as she flies over and study the magical texts. "Why aren't there books for innate casters?" Felicity asks, tilting her head with a quizzical look on her face.

I'm a familiar, so to speak. I can't cast magic, but I can manipulate and alter existing magic. The cat sniffs the air a bit, trying to determine what sort of magic the creatures in front of her are.

The little magic Fixer has in him seems to come from Felicity. It's obvious that Fixer and Felicity are tightly bonded, they might even be one and the same. One could even call Felicity a familiar. Xun might be able to sense a weakness to magic in Fixer, which would explain his dislike of magic. She'd also be able to sense that the weakness to magic has been dampened a bit due to Felicity. There's a hint of science-based magic, but most of it should seem alien to Xun, if she has no knowledge of extra-terrestrials and/or science.

Felicity nods wildly in response. "Me too! Come to think of it, I might have become a familiar to Fixer! I wasn't born one, but Fixer saved me and we have been together for years and we bonded together and I love him so much!"

Fixer smiles a genuine smile at that. "I couldn't get rid of her if I tried, but then she grew on me. I'm indebted to her."

"Union has nothing, and that's being generous." Kirk leans against his dresser and shakes his head. "If they honestly try to pursue this, they'll be nothing more than a thorn inn our side. There's nothing inherently immoral with taking money for protection and they'll have a hell of a time trying to prove otherwise."

Valente laughs. "Hey, I think I've gotten used to that by now. But maybe you have a point." Valente looks over the puppies again. He still can't tell which are which, but maybe it doesn't matter. "Okay, we'll take a boy then. He can be my island in a sea of women."

Xun gestures around with a paw, tail sweeping to match. Most of these books focus on manipulating existing magical energies. A lot of elements have very weak magic in them, that can be let out by being arranged a certain way.

"Hmm." Dipsnig consults a holographic database produced from a crystal-studded bracer on his left wrist. "Do you have any experience with dungeons and adventuring?"

Dipsnig smiles. The cranky goblin mercenary does have a soft spot for his personal wolf pack.

"Hmm. You know, Astrana, there's actually something important I wanted to ask you about," he then says.

"We run a big of a dungeon-scouting program, Dipsnig explains. "Finding dungeons and recommending them to our license holders who have an interest in this sort of thing. If you could perform this sort of mission, it'd be enough. One of my lieutenants is a professional adventurer. She could accompany you, if she has the time."

Felicity listens attentively, apparently in magic-academic mode. "Well I suppose we can learn a lot from each other! I can scratch your ears and you scratch mine, so to speak!"

Fixer is silent, watching the two converse. It crosses his mind to ask about reducing weakness to magic, since he realizes he'd be a fool not to recognise a weakness, but decides against it. Unfortunately for him, Felicity catches wind of what he might be thinking...

She flies closer to Xun, speaking in a half-whisper. "And how do I help Fixer with his err... magic problem?"

"Go find Dena, my lieutenant. She has a room in this base. I'll send her a message that you'll be coming," Dipsnig says, punching something into his bracer. Dena should get a brief message that a potential member will be coming along.

Filii nods, rising. He turns and seeks out Dena's room. Upon finding it, he will knock on the door (if it is closed).

He will have to wait a bit before there is a reply. "Yes? Who is it?" He can hear a woman's distracted voice come from the other side of the door.

I am Filii, a new member. I was sent here to prove my skill through dungeon scouting.
If the door is opened, Dena will see Filii with his arms crossed standing in military uniform with a gun across his back.

"Union? Like the Inside Union?" Tiny asks, insinuating himself into the conversation, not as blissfully unaware of the news as people might expect from him. He gives a mocking little chuckle, enjoying the foreign timbre in his voice. "What're they going to do? I thought they had no control over Riverside."
