Mist smooths out a seat and sits down, moving his poofy tail out of the way. He'd have loved to get her a long coat like his, but her shape just doesn't allow for it. Either way, with her trademark shades it'll make her look super cool. Super cool.

"Because, well. Ever heard the expression, 'I trust 'em as far as I can throw 'em?'" he asks. He didn't know that she could read Japanese. And yes, he did spend a reasonable amount of money on a pun. It seemed appropriate.

Yep, Leah is looking super-cool. Fancy jacket, mirrored shades, poofy zebra hair with that white highlight, actual stripes.
The sentiment of the gift evaporates in the face of how cool Mist is.

"I have. Just how far can you throw them?" Leah hasn't ever seen him show off his knife skills.

Mist is embarrassed at admitted his pun so quickly, but the question gives him something else to think about.
"Reasonably far, actually. You have a target?" he asks Leah. There is suddenly a knife in his hand.

"That was fast." Leah grins widely, a grin that fades away as she remembers how careful she should be around Mist.

Leah nods and motions for him to get up.
"Out back at the bottom of the fort, there's a range with all sorts of targets."

What? Why would she be careful around Mist? He's probably the most harmless person in the fort. He just has an unexplained proficiency with knives.
"Well, we can stay and sit for a while if you'd like, but otherwise that sounds good." he says, not wanting to force her to get up and walk somewhere just to show off a bit.

Mist is very exacting. At any moment she could make a mistake and lose his entire friendship. Or so she feels, despite the very little evidence for it.
"No, come on. I'd like to see. Besides, you have to teach me to use this well."

Leah extends a hand to him and will lead Mist to the targets, exactly as described, out in the sunlight, if he follows.

Mist nods then, and stands up, letting Leah show him around by the hand. He keeps up, very close to her. Not actually leaning on her or anything, though he'd love to show affection like that to her. Leah's always so mysterious.
"So, the hooves are still working out well? I hope stairs aren't an issue." he asks amiably as they go, glancing down to check if she ever had herself shod.

"They work out nice, yes. I turned a few places into longer ramps, easier to head up."

She does in fact have shoes. The horseshoe kind.
Eventually, they get back to the entrance and are walking into daylight, out around the side of the skullfort.

Mist looks around the fort and the town around it in wonder.
"It really is an impressive place, Leah. Do you run much of it or do your friends mostly do their own thing?" he says as they walk, curious.

"Thank you."
Leah nods, smiling a bit again.
"I run the fort, the observatory, and the church. Otherwise, people do their own thing. The roost used to be me too, but people from the Keep took over. Kestrel runs the nurse-apothecary, Yueh...does her thing."

All sorts of weapons and targets at every distance you'd want.

"Hm? What or who is the church dedicated to? In the Nexus each town seems to have its own patron, no two alike." he says, absent-mindedly taking a few practice throwing knives from the rack.

"The Floating Church. It's dedicated to peace and sensation."
Leah takes a few knives for herself and nods.
"They do, don't they? I borrowed this one from the chapel in AEGIS. No one was answering for it."

Mist blinks.
"You borrowed a church? As in, the building or its congregation? And if you run it, does that make you a priest? Or do you just run the physical aspects of it?" he asks. He's never really been sure of Leah's metaphysical status beyond "fairy."

Leah chuckles.
"The congregation. No one was answering their prayers, but a few people were still there, so I filled in. It seems to help a lot of the refugees here. I guess you could count me as a priestess, but I mostly just do the physical bits now."

She lifts one of the practice knives, aims, and just hits the closest of the throwing targets.
