Civ 5 Giant mutliplayer robot thread 10

Well, I joined a GMR game on the forum and am so far liking it.

So I'd like to start one. Would people want to join it?

There'd be seven slots, civilizations would be either random or player assigned based on preference, and we'd vote on what map to use.

Brave new world, and Gods and kings DLC, the rest only if all players want them.

So want to join?

OrcusMcP- Egypt if picked
Dodger H20-Ethopia/Sweeden if picked
GAAD Portugal if picked
Thesnark Morocco, Arabia or France

I'll join as Egypt, but I will step back for anyone who isn't in as many games yet.

As for map, I still think one of the set-piece maps could be a neat change of pace (the pseudo-random Europe map, Eastern Seaboard, British Isles, etc).

We could do Earth. That was my first Civ game. Washington on Earth.

I'm fine for random civs as well, just thought I'd give my choice if it went that way.

Earth is fun, but it has one unbalanced flaw: Natural Wonders. It doesn't include any DLC/expansion wonders and they're always in set locations. THis gives anyone who spawn in the middle of North America (where there are 3 NWs) a big advantage.

Wouldn't the set piece locations have the same flaw though?

A lot of them don't have NWs at all. I think only the pseudo-Europe one would have them.

Interested here, as long as there's space for me :)

I'd vote for player choice on Civs, if only because I'm terrible at taking advantage of early-game conquest units, being a primarily defensive player. Random could take me out of my comfort zone though, so I'd accept it.

Mapwise I'm partial to anything big, and balanced. I've mostly avoided the set maps in single player, so I can't give much feedback on which if any I'd prefer.

And as for maps I'd prefer something with oceans that is randomized, but I'd go with a pre-generated map like Earth if that's what the group prefers.

Intrigued - if we choose civilizations I'll probably go with Morocco, Arabia or France, but I don't mind random either.

I'm in! Also in favor of randomized map, not too big, because I don't want the game to go terribly long. And with a mix of big continents and other landmasses; I was on a small map just recently, and there was one main continent with me, Brazil, the dutch, and Japan, and another continent with the Huns, Siam, and probably another civilization that got map-wiped when I wasn't there to see. It wasn't as fun, because once I conquered the Dutch and Brazil, Japan was just sitting there really weak, and it was hard to start a war with the other continent. And there was literally nothing else on the map.

Thinking Poland if we get to pick civs.

I have all the DLC, I think I got the Complete edition on sale. Steam won't tell me exactly, that I can find.

I'd rather have less human players than put some AIs in there, personally, but I can wait for a few more if necessary.

Right click on Civ 5 in your Steam Library and there should be an option to see the DLC you own called "view Downloadable Content"

Don't have the Scrambled Nations or Scrambled Continents DLCs, but I'm good on all the others.
I don't like the AI very much, so I am personally against filling in slots with AIs. IF nobody joins soon, let's just do a Small map. It'll make the game go faster.

(Don't worry about the Scattered X DLC, I think it's just map packs. Apparently I also have the Mongols/Khan DLC.)
