Re: Civ 5 Giant mutliplayer robot thread 10
A couple of them aren't nothing, but if you're third to the pick it feels like a lot of wasted culture. I think generally Piety has very little pay-off. Yes, getting +1 piety from religious buildings is nice for getting an early pantheon but if you go straight Piety from the beginning you're crippling yourself so that's not really an option. You need the cultural output from at least opening Liberty or Tradition ASAP, in my opinion.
The policy that gives you the Pantheon bonus from a secondary religion in your cities is next to useless since you have very little to no control over what other religions are around or what they picked. So it could be a bonus, if you're lucky, but it might as well be something completely useless and unless you get a city where that religion is the majority you won't be able to spread it on your own.
The one that increases Temple gold output is nice, but negligible and Mandate of Heaven (20% cost reduction on Faith purchases) is nice but again circumstantial since your religion isn't necessarily a Faith with buildings or units. I assume it applies to buying Great Persons as well, which is awesome but so much later in the game.

Well, we might have the record for GMR games on this site. A full round in Six. Hours. Flat.
Sure, it's nowhere NEAR 10 seconds, but you take what you can get.

Re: Civ 5 Giant mutliplayer robot thread 10
General Address And Dissertations
It has been time uncounted since the Azurites first settled this land. Our forces have created a scouting party, to explore the strange and uncharted eastern lands. There, at the foot of the Northern Azurite Desert, we came across a strange sight: men. Not the degenerate savages to the deep south, but spoken ones. We have lent our hand in friendship to these people, your majesty, but it will necessarily be a long time until their reply. Until then, who wants a nice fishy? Who does? You does! Oh yes you does. Good kitty.
(I would not dare speak these words in the presence of his Divine Feliness, so I have trusted in this man, who has managed to imbue parchment with words. All hail the Gateway Around All Distractions. May the Queen never recover. The dunes hold our fortunes. We look north, to the holiest and most sacred lands we hold.)

Spoiler: To AzureWarmest greetings, strange blue people, you are most welcome to partake of our hospitality! To our south is a peninsula of tundra and forest, and our city does indeed lie on the mighty Nile river. To our east is the Tigris delta. We seem to not be too far away from each other, perhaps when we have more of a complete view of each others territory we can treat about some agreed upon borders?

There once was an Illven named Gandhi.
He didn't like it when he was called "Blondie"
So he took up his nukes
For they gave him the pukes
And destroyed them, and rather fondly.

OOC: Mr. Scruffy only deigns to respond to in-thread discussion during his turn.
Spoiler: to OrcusGreetings, Lord Orcumses.
I am Soya Sauso, Good Azurite Ambassador Delegate to the Empire of Egypt.
I once again thank you for the generous embassy.
Mr. Scruffy has responded that as a fellow sovereign power we should be glad to come to an honest agreement about borders.
Some people currently wish to settle elsewhere; however, our scouts are searching for a suitable location to our north, which as you can tell from your own embassy would not interfere with your majesty's plan.

In the interest of being neighborly, you should know that there is a barbarian camp to the south of Three Chords, by the mountains, and another on the coast to the north; our military is currently engaged with the latter. If you would like to remove either camp we would be happy for the assistance, but understand if you'd rather avoid them.Avatar by GryffonDurime. Thanks!
