Re: Hoard of the Dragon Queen Game Thread
Torrash sets fire to some other rats. Most of what's left of half of them panics and runs around (the remaining half of Rat Swarm 1 runs away from combat, burning, slipping itself in holes and past you)

Re: Hoard of the Dragon Queen Game Thread
If the rats were running away that was fine by Innocent! Though they left some friends... huh, it was kind of a shame to just leave the burn rats where they were when they'd already been cooked. But they'd probably been over cooked, and rat doesn't taste good at the best of times. Oh right, they were still fighting.
Flipping over to the second swarm, Innocent rawred as he 'clawed' at it with his short sword and dagger. Being dressed like a bear was fun!

Leif was out of practice with his fly swatter, that much was clear. The trick with flies and spiders was that they eventually came to a stop, and were easily targeted. Leif hardly even knew where to direct his bolts at the horde of rats.

As Leif freezes a couple of rats and Torrash cuts down some others, the remaining rats disperse, some burning, some slowed by cold, others missing a leg or two.

Veran opens the grate quietly. As he peeks outside, a group of cultists is searching the stream banks for hiding townsfolk. He notices them approaching without being spotted in return.
The raider's group consists of 2 cultists and 6 kobolds.
You all get a surprise round.

Re: Hoard of the Dragon Queen Game Thread
Those rats had tickled! But they'd scared Squeakers, so that was no good. These guys were definitely bad guys though, and not random rats that... all decided to attack people with fire. Huh, did they eat fire or something? Or they just stupid? Innocent guessed as rats they wouldn't be very smart. Squeakers was smart to an extent, but Squeakers was trained. These rats were wild. Wait, did it count as being wild if they lived inside? They probably lived off of scraps and things, so they wouldn't really be wild because they lived around and off of humans. Then again nobody claimed they were pets or livestock. Was that enough to be counted as wild?
Frowning in thought, Innocent idly nocked and shot an arrow at one of the cultists.

Veran shoots a bolt and hits Cultist 1 on his shoulder, making him scream and alert his companions of your presence.
Leif shoots a clumsy Ray of Frost which lands not even close to any of the raiders.
Innocent shoots Cultist 2 in the head and he drops dead.

Torrash sticks his sword into Kobold 1's stomach and kills it.

Re: Hoard of the Dragon Queen Game Thread
The battle was chaotic, and Leif only had a vague sense of what was happening caught through flashes of blades on armor. Leif thought he had managed to hit one of the kobolds with his fly swatter, but he wasn't entirely certain. He was also beginning to realize that his "fly-swatter" was a little more dangerous than its moniker had suggested. While he was aware that it was used by some mages in hazardous situations, he had chosen it largely for its inability to damage its surrounding environs when killing spiders.
