Re: Ghostfoot's Tearing of the Weave IC
Temiryl finally smashes through the doors, kicking and barging as the heavy timber succumbs to her and Fintan's blows. Through the doors they see the mill's warehouse. Sacks of grain and flour are stacked against the walls of the room. A large closed trapdoor in the center of the floor leads down to a cellar, as do a set of stairs on the far side. Running to join the fight in the entry hall are a couple more brutish-looking scale-armoured warriors, these ones better prepared with shields and warhammers at the ready. Scurrying at their feet are three more of the dire rats - huge rodents the size of small dogs with beady eyes and lethal-looking teeth. As the door smashes in the turn, clearly trying to work out whether to face the new intruders or join the existing fight.
All of a sudden the huge shadow of Anthony atop the great warhorse fills the shattered doorway. As Temiryl ducks to one side the knight lashes out with his lance, catching one of the thugs in the shoulder for 5 damage.
Leaping forward just as a thug opens the door, Savin smashes him into the doorframe and chops down, splinters flying and ribs cracking as he savagely hacks into man and shield for 13 damage, the man barely keeping his feet.
Seeing the dwarf with his pinches of sand begin his spellcasting, Captain Ghini whistles Dawnwind out of harm's way. The wolf leaps back as rainbow colours and lights flash from Krag and wash over the villainous wererat. It manages to duck it's head behind it's cloak, and emerges blinking but unaffected by the magical effect.
Spoiler: OOCGhini handle wolf to move/ withdraw - free action (going slightly out of turn, but otherwise it's getting smoked by a colour spray).
Also I'm giving the thug a free open of the door at H17/ H18 so Savin can smack him (the door was actually supposed to still be closed but it's unclear on the map so no worries).

Re: Ghostfoot's Tearing of the Weave IC
Bolts of eldritch energy fly from the warlock sending rats scurrying for cover and blasting grain and flour across the room but not injuring anything.
Clutching her wounded side, Ghini steps forward to engage the wererat. "Surrender, murderous vermin!" The wererat laughs and bats aside her weapon with ease, although it's eyes widen and it hisses in anger as it notices the silvered nature of her blade. Stabbing swiftly it runs her through the thigh and as she stumbles it lunges forward savaging her neck and shoulder. She falls to the ground as it looks up grinning and licking it's bloody lips.
The man that Savin has just hacked into reels backward, disengaging immediately, dropping his warhammer and pulling a vial from his belt. He drinks the contents and you see his wounds heal somewhat as he does. The other thug, bleeding from Anthony's blow, step in and swings at the mounted warrior with his hammer for 6 damage trying to knock him off the warhorse.
The huge rats bound forward, beady eyes glittering and noses twitching in delight at the smell of blood. One of them slips under Savin's guard and gnaws on his leg for 4 damage. Again the wererat snickers at the injury and mutters to the rat in its sinister voice "Yes, that's right my friends. Feed....consume them!"

Re: Ghostfoot's Tearing of the Weave IC
Temiryl starts chanting arcane words of magic, her opponent growling at his inability to strike her down through the obstruction of the tattered doorway. Savin swings at the rat, hacking big wedges from the floor and doorway but not hitting the feral vermin as it nips from side to side. At the warehouse doors Anthony's warhorse rears and kicks the hostile warrior full in the chest for 9 & 6 damage . Ribs crack as the man his hurled senseless and broken to the floor. Anthony himself stabs down at the vile dire rat for 7 damage impaling it it right through before flinging it from his weapon to also lie still in a growing pool of blood. The dwarf steps up to engage the ratman, jabbing and swinging with his staff but unable to connect with the wicked slyly grinning creature. And again Fintan sends bolts of energy blasting past rats into sacks of flour and grains. The wolf hunches in the corner, growling and confused with its master down and unfamiliar people fighting all around it.
The wererat counterattacks Krag, moving deftly and stabbing biting even trying to claw his eyes but somehow the resolute dwarf is able to keep the skilled wererat at bay. The two remaining dire rats bite at Savin trying to take him down, one of them drawing a minor gash for 1 damage. And the last warrior pulls a large dagger from his belt and hurls it at Anthony, the blade missing and sailing off into the streets outside. Cursing he bends down and retrieves his warhammer from where he had dropped it previously.

Re: Ghostfoot's Tearing of the Weave IC
Temiryl finishes her arcane incantations as she blows a pinch of sand toward the assailants. The two huge rats menacing Savin blink and slump to the floor, deep in slumber. Moving her attention back to the other entrance she casts again but the rat man shrugs off the attempted enchantment without effect.
Behind her Anthony and Thunder storm into the room, cloud of flour billowing around them. As the warrior stands from grabbing his weapon, Anthony catches him in the arm with his lance drawing a bloody gash for 7 damage. Meanwhile the warhorse tramples on the closest slumbering rat for 18 damage, breaking its body and ending the vermin's life. Savin swings his axe down on the remaining rat for 16 damage chopping it's head clean off. Fintan blasts away bursts of eldritch energy zapping past Anthony and sending more sacks of flour exploding around the room.
In the chaos of the entry hall Krag swings his silvered staff the mighty blow cracking against the side of the wererat's skull for 15 damage leaving it bleeding and nearly brained.
The injured warrior steps forward over the corpses of the large rats. He feints at Savin and swings around to catch Anthony, catching the knight with a wicked strike to his shield arm for 9 damage. As Savin dodges the feint and sees his companion struck the sneaky wererat steps in and takes advantage of the distraction to stab Savin in the back for 2 damage and savagely bite at his shoulder and neck for another 2 damage.

Sorcerous colours from Temiryl wash over the wererat but again it is unaffected. It's lone companion is not so lucky, a barrage of hooves inflicting 6, 7 and 6 damage and leaving the warrior broken on the ground. Savin swings mightily at the wererat who ducks the blow smashing into the doorframe. Crunch. Crunch. In avoiding the mighty axe it moves straight into the path of Krag's staff, striking it for 3 damage.
The vile vermin-man is struck square on the snout with a sharp crack and slips slowly down the wall to also lie in a crumpled heap...finally the battle appears to be over!Last edited by Ghostfoot; 2015-03-25 at 10:40 PM.

Re: Ghostfoot's Tearing of the Weave IC
"She'll live. And might want to talk to this guy. Help me attend his condition?"
With or without Temiryl's help, Anthony checks the condition of the rat-man and takes some care to make sure he remains alive enough to be eventually questioned if someone so desires, using the rat-man's own pants to bandage and, then, after placing all the gear in a smell heap nearby, bind him. After all this is done, Anthony sits on the floor near Ghini and rat-man.
"I will sit here and await medical attention. If anyone wants to search the house, go ahead. Just scream louder if something happens."

Re: Ghostfoot's Tearing of the Weave IC
Anthony checks the rat-man. The creature still lives, it's breath bubbling through it's broken snout. With a little effort he is able to stabilize its condition and securely restrain it.
Sir Lysander Aulbes and the militia set up a secure perimeter and guards around the mill. While obviously concerned about the fallen Captain, none of them have any particular healing or first aid capabilities any better than the party. One of the younger lads is sent to fetch the village priest.DM: AgeOfWorms|SavageTide|TearingOfTheWeave|Northlands Saga|Grimmsgate
