Types of Irish pub
I'm familiar with the type of bar known as a Blarney Stone (they feature, in my mind, steam tables for cooking basic food and a blue-collar crowd), but ran across a reference to White Rose as another type, something to the effect of "I did my drinking that afternoon in Blarney Stones and White Roses."
Can anybody shed light on this for me?Avatar by the incomparable araveugnitsuga!

Re: Types of Irish pub
They were basically the same thing, steam counters, condiment bars, cheap drinks, working-class crowd. Unlike Blarney Stones, which are still eking out an existence, I think White Roses have faded into the misty dream realm of past bars and future Tom Waits lyrics.
