Wenomir's relief upon seeing Kr climb out of the water is almost palpable. He still strongly suspects she might have been somehow compromised by the Cuthun demons... but that's a far cry from her being dead. The former is fixable - the latter often isn't, even in the Nexus. And he'll be damned if he lets some slimy degenerates keep them apart.

He runs up to Kr and tries to help her out of the water. Because of the aforementioned suspicion, he's on his guard while doing so.

"Thank the Riddle," he says while doing so. Whether Kr is in a state to hear him or answer is unclear, but he says it anyway. "Let's get you back upstairs." Then they can figure out what in the hell happened.

Kr looks at Wenomir for a moment. For a second she's probably going to say something resembling some form of thanks, but then her attention is distracted by the base. Or rather, what she detects going on in the base. Her eyes widen in shock.
"Yes, we need to get there as fast as possible." She says, voice filled with sudden urgency as she attempts to get up.

"Is there another disaster happening as we speak?" Wenomir asks, entirely unsurprised. He immediately tries to help Kr move back up the mountain path. He's going to be very surprised if she doesn't need assistance after surviving a point-blank explosion and a hundred-foot fall. If need be, he may simply pick her up and carry her.

    [Over the Lake]

The rift in the sky crackles and swirls, a writhing maelstrom of uncontrollable power. But something else starts happening up there. The area immediately around the hole ripped in reality shifts further, distorting the sky above in a manner not dissimilar to the visual effects of intense heat, and slowly becomes more visually distinct, a blood red anomaly in the sky.

The psychically sensitive in the area, or perhaps the psychically sensitive observing, even, might feel a great, howling defiance echoing from the anomaly, a psychic scream of pain and defiant fury.

Then the red phenomenon starts moving, slowly rising upward, almost strained, seemingly tearing itself free of the vortex, until it clears it and extremely rapidly flies off.

Whatever that means, it's utterly unrelated to what the demons are doing, though it's possible someone might not know that. Although it should be fairly obvious.

    Inside the Base

With his gaze still transfixed on the rift outside, Magtok waves to Felandria and Dao from over his shoulder. "There's a concrete block full of ancient, dangerous black magic in the vault. I need it moved to the MagCave as soon as possible. Trouble is, it can't be teleported, it's way too heavy for me to carry, and we're surely about to be attacked soon, so the Magbots I've called in that will be here shortly are more for the purpose of acting as our reinforcements than couriers. See to it, and then come back immediately. On your way back, if it looks like we're completely overrun from outside, regroup at Trog's and hope someone else survived."

    [Watching VIGIL - Gatehouse]

A humanoid golem with four arms and three heads of what looks like a skeletal hyenas stands in a grand hall with several interconnected chambers. In each chamber there are several portals of the same kind as VIGIL. These are closing instead of opening however as the invading demons are slowly transferred over.
The golem is overlooking what appears to be a vague map of the VIGIL base, the swirling vortexes that seems to shows what KR and the bird watching the courtyard are seeing, it's three heads making it capable of watching all three things at the same time.

One of the vortexes seems to focus particularly on Felandria right now. "Reinforcements." The golem speaks in the exact same voice as the one in the chamber. Jaccalish looked skeptically at the giant woman in the courtyard. "Do. We. Know. Anything. About. This. One?"

"Crrnoo." Another bird, similar to the one watching VIGIL replies. "Ets crompletely new to us, great! One!" It cries out.

The head turn back to observe her through the vortex. "Mammal. Female. Large. For. It's. Species." The demon lord observes, though it's stilted speeches pattern makes it hard to tell when it's actually pausing. "Giant. Likely. Speech. Patterns. Indicate. Lack. Of. Intelligence." It says to itself and suddenly falls into a longer pause. "Replace. Hounds. With. Sizors. Add. Vastros. To. The. Gating. Sequence. Aim. For. The. Eyes." It speaks.

    And the demons listen.

[VIGIL - Armory and Members Rooms]

This was it. No more waiting around.

Within the armory and every watchmembers room little black imp appears. With malicious intent they look around the rooms and grab anything that appears to be a weapon, is valuable or dangerous. Once they have it, they will simply disappear, taking what they held with them.

    [VIGIL - Control Room]

In the control room a number of large pit fiends appears, three are clad in black armor which covers every inch of them besides their burning eyes and mouths. The other half have less armor with only their arms and lower body covered in it. They appear to have some sort of arcane focuses in their huge swords however. The group moves to barricade the entrances to the control room and then to attempt to figure out how the controls actually worked.

    [VIGIL - Infirmary]

All over the infirmary a dozen black humanoid creatures the size of large horses appear as the gating process is complete. They have a skeletal appearance, as if they were just skin tightly stretched over bones. This idea is further reinforced by the fact that instead of eyes, these creatures have shallow cavities where eyes should be. The only opening in their skin is the mouth which is a skeletal grin that appear to lack teeth. They seem unlike other demons lack weapons however, neutral or otherwise.
But like most lesser demons their behavior is simplistic, they simply rush towards the closest foe at full speed, dodging or leaping over any obstacle in their way. Now however they're looking for wounded victims to catch.

    [Above VIGIL]

Above the base a dozen of fleshy creature appear. They look live huge bee hives but their color tone suggests that they're in fact made of flesh. Adding to their grotesque appearance are huge leather wings attached to their backs which seems to be keeping them in the air judging by how they're flapping. While they don't seem to have any apparent weapons they seem to be infested with legions of insects that now starts to descend upon the base.
The swarms consist of creatures that appear to have the body of wasps but the legs and head of mosquitoes and making the all too familiar sound of them too.
These demonic bugs only seek to inject anyone they come in contact with muk, the demonic corruption. The dosage per bite isn't very large however so it will be up to the players if their characters are infected or not. If not infected, they will at least be poisoned.

Meanwhile the hives that produced them seems to be releasing some sort of smoke into the air from a number of holes in it's fleshy body which starts to spread over VIGIL. Breathing it in probably isn't healthy.

    [VIGIL - Courtyard]

Appearing in the middle of the courtyard is a massive construct out of what appears to be terracota with clear cracks all across it's body as if had been broken and someone tried to mend it together again but with mixed results. It's lower body is fairly well reconstructed and appears to be of a horse or a bull, as broody and thick as it is. But something seems to have gone wrong with the upper part which appears to be a giant of a man clad in heavy armor, but the face is obviously not human. It has two tusks that looks like they could have been the horns of a bull and a mouth that is more akin to a terrifying maw which takes up most of it's face, so large it could swallow a man whole. It's eyes, located on each side of the maw are two dark pits that seem to consume all light around them. Upon it's head is a helmet that looks more like a skull of something, the stone work here is in shambles. It likely should have been something else but whoever mended it together misunderstood what it really was. There are several parts missing, like something that should have been in the middle of the golem and probably what was supposed to have been a tail. In each hand it holds a huge black polearm that still seems to have been made for smaller creatures.

As the giant golem moves further into the courtyard it's hoofs seems accompanied by war drums that echos all over the base, slowly driving those who hear to madness.

Around this giant of a golem more demons are gated in, two pit fiends dressed in the same black armor as the ones in the control room as well as a group of smaller monkey-like creatures that seem like lack both eyes and hair.

The giant stops as it no doubts gathers the attention of some VIGIL'ers. "MORTALS! SURRENDER NOW OR NONE OF YOU SHALL BE SPARED!" It booms over the entire base.

    [Rest of VIGIL]

Imps, monkey demons and the black skeletal-demons appear here and there and may attack members that move around in the base. The imps seems mostly prone to scout around the base and hiding. More like spies than warriors.

    [Outside VIGIL]

She had been coming here anyway, if only to run some simulations including some of the things she had learned on her most recent expedition to... weird places. The Bridge project was coming along nicely! Not finished yet, of course, but still coming along. There was still lots of work to do, still lots of things to learn. Not only did it need to work, it needed to work safely and in a cost effective fashion!

The giant explosion gave her pause.

So did the awful psionic scream.

The Mew in a fancy, Mew-sized flight jacked stops mid-flight, clamping little paws over her ears as she gives a gasp of pain. <What as THAT?> she mutters as she watches the horrible swirling vortex of doom gradually congeal before a glowing point of psychic agony goes streaking away from it. Whatever is going on at VIGIL, it isn't anything good. And that means her friends there are probably in danger.

Not to mention her Bridge project equipment.

With steeled resolve she presses on the speed, rocking toward the tower like a tiny blue shooting star.

As she draws closer the source of the problem seems to make itself evident.

    Demons.

    Lots and lots of demons.

And that's no good. No good at all.

Fortuna darts down to the ground level and takes cover in the trees, focusing on her defenses as layers of kinetic and reactive psionic barriers begin shrouding her like the skins of an onion. She focuses her attention on the demons, concocting a nasty little plot to strike them down quickly before they have a chance to alert the others to her presence.

    Big scary demons.

    Smaller, just as scary demons.

    Fleshy bee-hive demons with bees.

Way too many demons. She's sorely out-numbered. Thankfully, she has a trick to even the odds a bit.

With a strangled gasp of pain, Fortuna the Mew divides her life-force, splitting herself in half. It takes a moment or two to recover from the shock of making a Substitute, but once it's done Fortuna forms a little egg-shaped ball of healing power to restore herself as well as her double.

In all, the preparations take a minute or two. No reason to go flying in headlong when she can take time to prepare herself, right? Hopefully nothing tries to pounce on her while she's hiding and buffing herself.

A brief portal appears outside the hole, and an attractive, giggling young woman with obvious demonic features emerges, quickly diving away from the big sucking hole in the sky, whatever that is. She alights on the edge of the lake opposite Wenomir and KR and grins, saying, "Free! I'm finally free! Out of that gods-forsaken cage! Now then..." She grins wickedly and surveys the area, noting KR and Wenomir as well as sensing the general chaos happening, and calls out, "Hey buddy! Take her inside! It's the best thing you can do for her!"

Joke's on you, imps. This room is completely empty! There's not even a change of clothes to steal, much less a weapon.

    [Library]

The door from the ice opens up, letting Laru back in. He might note this is not the place he left from. But he's much more likely to worry about the demons everywhere. Remember to close the door behind you. The Lady of the castle would be so cross if you let demons into her domain.
((whenever Goto124 wants him to arrive))

    [Lake]

The librarian mentioned a little while ago, the human* with her blue hair and pink jumpsuit (yes it was always a jumpsuit, why would you suggest otherwise) and her chrome-rimmed glasses and her letter-opener knife, she appears.
Glides over to shore like a fish and steps up to land like the water isn't weighing her down. Which it isn't, as look, it's flowing off her like it can't get away fast enough.
She looks the watchtower over, gaze sliding up to the top and then past, to the monsters and the descending swarms and the booming voice demanding surrender.

    Well.

The demons will certainly have their work cut out for them, as they come across Kr's best source of job security: an incomprehensible mishmash of magic and technology, added to over the course of several years as Kr has made slow improvements to the existing base functions. It's possible that they might figure out how to make things work, but it'll take them a while.

    [Vigil - Lakeshore]

Kr nods grimly as the airborne demons come into view, and the massive centaur-golem-demon's booming announcement reaches them. This is followed by a swear word. "I knew it would be a risk, breaking the anti-teleport to bring the explosion outside, but I didn't expect anything to attack so quickly. They must have been spying on us somehow."

And then the other demon appears on the other side of the lake. More swearing.
"That's one of the demons from the staff. They should have been destroyed by the rift, not set free."

If I'm correct there are 3 person in the infirmary. The guy hunted by the demons, the no belly button woman and Mia. (both belong to Wolfbane if I remember right.)
Oh and there is alos MDM the robot and he is still on guard due to the last demon attack. So the first of the skeletal demons will be greet by the iron fist of a 9 feet tall robot, likly breaking bones if he hits.
Mia on the other hand is still recovering from the shock. She is an easy prey right now, but the sound of her robot fighting could change that soon.

Wenomir just sighs deeply. Everything else had gone wrong today, so what's one more thing. Or a hundred other things, which is to say, invading demons. The newly-emergent one is ignored. He has enough to deal with.

"That would be entirely too convenient for us, wouldn't it? It's not attacking, so I'm not going to pick another fight." He holds Kr closer and breaks into a fast run, drawing on his deep reserves of endurance. "They must have been monitoring the staff and noticed what happened to it. We're not giving up without a fight, but it's likely we'll have to retreat and evacuate. And it doesn't look like you're in a fit state to fight."

    [VIGIL - Infirmary]

The creatures are specifically seeking out easy targets and the golem is not one of them. Golems are often defensive and slow so the demons simply ignore it and charge with surprising speed a Mia and her two patients. So they're simply running past him, not even attempting to take a shorter path around him. Just aiming to bullrush straight into their victims at an alarming speed.
So it all depends how fast Mia, MDA and the other two can react since these things are fast as racing horses and seem to accelerate from 0 to 100 in no time at all.

If they are hit, they will easily be be pushed away or fly into the air as it turns out they're very light. Their bones bending and breaking without all that much force applied which might make some suspect they're related to birds. Another possibility is to simply attempt to move out of their way and hope they simply move fast enough to miss. There are three demons going for each person though (besides MDA that is) so you need to deal with more than one of them.

If they are allowed to come close however the demons seems to be attempting to use their superior size to their victims to... hug them?
Yes, the demons will actually attempt to hug Mia and the patients if they manage to get that far, the skin draped over their skeletal bodies turning out to be extremely sticky. Not only that the creatures bones suddenly shift into a grotesque bone prison around who they hugged, making it nearly impossible to separate the demon from their victims once they managed to make it that far. In addition the sticky skin seems to not only stick to clothes, armor and skin, it seems to merge with it as it is in fact made out of pure muk (corruption). The target, once stuck will unless they manage to escape somehow, quite quickly transform into whatever their player choose, using the normal guidelines in my link down below.

[Inside the Base - Vault of DOOM]

Going to the Magcave? Probably easier said than done as there are now demons entering the vault. A huge pit fiend clad in black armor peeks inside through the door, it's burning eyes staring at them through the black helmet it wears. Unlike most demons this fiend actually appears to be defensive as it carries a shield in front of itself which is just large enough to block the entire width of the doorway and more than half it's length. The demon doesn't actually charge in either as many of it's kin would. It simply stands there, blocking the way out as things seem to be going on in the background.

"Ssurrender?" It suggests in a deep tone that actually doesn't come off as half as threatening as a creature of it's stature and appearance would suggest. "You won't die." The demon almost sounds helpful, like it was pointing out the small mathematical error you made in your homework assignment.

    [Control Room]

The three pit lords who seem to be the brains in the group just stares at the controls for a moment. Suddenly the left one lifts it's hand towards the nearest button. "Should we-"
"No." The middle one replies. "We can't take any chances now. Leave this to me." Confidently the demon lifts what appears to be some sort of arcane focus and starts casting identify on the controllers. The spell intents to make clear what spells it's enchanted by or if it has any magical safety restrictions. It won't actually tell it how it works however or anything about technology.

Meanwhile the three pit knights are focusing on the entrances to the control room, trying to figure out if there are any ways out or in besides the door, or if the room have any other special features.

    [Rest of the Base]

While most demons are simply running around looking for foes to fight, the imps are actually looking for more tactical information. While the demons had ideas about the control room from KR, they only knew about the other places by name. So they're trying to find labs and other important places to see if they can be used to their advantage somehow. The imps have the ability to turn invisible so they're pretty good scouts.

Magtok continues to stare out that window. Jeez, he is just obsessed with that rift, isn't he?

"Hahehehe," he chuckles darkly. Yep, obsessed and insane. There's no way he could possibly justify staring at a magical hole in reality for this long, not while there's demons running rampant all throughout his base. Maybe they corrupted him beforehand? Maybe his whole concrete block mission was just a ruse meant to keep loyal VIGIL members from contributing in a meaningful manner to the organization's defense and evacuation?

"Hahahahahaha!" he laughs some more, but with a different voice. Not an evil, corrupted one, just...a different one. Like someone else with an orange robe was suddenly where he was standing, like this orange-robed individual had always been where you inexplicably chose to believe Magtok was standing. Who even is this Magtok guy you've been talking about, anyways? The only one I see here is Needs, his magically-inclined clone/brother. There might have been a Magtok here once, maybe, but if there was, he seems to have surrendered himself over to a very drastic and ultimately irrevocable takeover of his mind, body, and soul.

Last we saw Needs, he was a talking magical cat. Today, because a crisis has presented itself, he is a pile of cremated human ashes in the rough shape of a adult human male. These ashes are awash in a sea of holy testament and blessed scripture, clad in a robe made of battered, ancient papyrus. He, or it, I'm not sure which anymore, turns away from the window Magtok had been frozen in front of, shifting his body in one fluid motion to face the demons, half-blind and glaring with the single ball of flame in his left eye socket. Teeth of sharpened marble and hallowed silver grin in their direction, like a dog's fangs bared at some encroaching vermin. This is the first and last warning he intends to issue to his prey. Run, demons of Cuthun. MagCorp's best defense against the supernatural is here, and he is not taking prisoners.

    The Tallest Tower

A demon portal opens above the tallest point of the Vigil base for just a moment, allowing a large beast to fall until its four massive clawed feet latch onto the side of the building with a roar. The creature is the size of an elephant and built like a cross between a boar and a wolf, just several times more massive and with two horned bestial heads that ooze molten metal. The entire creature is covered in bands of bolted on Cuthun Iron, providing some measure of armor that its shaggy tan hide neglects.

    It isn't alone either.

On the creature's back is a thin demoness with pale green skin interrupted only by white chitinous plates in the form of a corset on her waist and torso. Despite being nearly horizontal she sits in the saddle with ease, a braided demon steel greatbow in her three hands. She only has one left arm, large and muscular to hold the bow, and two slighty thinner right arms to draw back and load. Her face would be human if it weren't for the lack of eyes and ears, though she smiles warmly at the sounds of the chaos on the field of battle. She takes a moment to reach onto her back, grabbing a long black arrow made of one piece of metal before placing it on her bow and drawing it.
The steel bow creaks noisily and the blind demon begins to hum to herself as she looks over her various options. Finally she simply squeezes her knees, signalling her ride to drop to the ground. "Come my brothers, let us find some prey." She whispers to it after it slams into the middle of the courtyard, ready for battle.

    Infirmary

Luckily for those in the Infirmary, Mitch is awake even if he isn't able to get up and walk around. That means that when the fighting started, his twin revolvers were loaded and he'd already started channeling energy into the runs on the bullets. Any demon that pokes its head in will find a silver bullet, blessed, fired at it and enchanted to explode into slivers on contact so it can deal optimum damage against soft tissues. The three demons sent after him will find two shots each sent their way as he fires swiftly with mechanical ease. That empties his right revolver, and even if he didn't kill or stop his demons, he turns to try and take a shot at each of the three demons charging the still unconscious woman with no bellybutton using his left. "Git the girl and git outta here!" He shouts towards his caretaker and the golem. "Forget me!"

The demoness giggles as she's dismissed by Wenomir and KR, calling back, "Fine! I guess you don't want to hear the villain's big, long monologue, explaining everything that's happening?"

The librarian calls out to the pouting demon who doesn't get to monologue.
    "I'm listening!"

Then she turns to her knife, whispering. "How about you run off to HALO and see if anyone's left there who can help out. I know a few who would love smiting demons, whatever's gone on." She flings the knife into the air, and with these teleblocks gone, it vanishes away.

    [Into VIGIL!]

    This is bad.

    Very bad.

The friends Fortuna has made at VIGIL are in danger. Her work on the Bridge is in danger. The hope of her home becoming a place where life can thrive again could be utterly destroyed. But... she's not going to let that happen. She has prepared. She has planned. She has done everything possible to steel herself against what's to come.

    Well...

    Almost everything.

With a few sub-vocalized commands she uses a function on her PIPcolt that has remained largely unused by her. It might not be fitting for the situation at hand, no, it almost certainly isn't fitting for the situation at hand. But she doesn't want some sort of exciting battle hymn to get her adrenalin pumping, no.

She wants to be reminded of what she's fighting for.

A world that might be wonderful again.

Like a pair of blue comets, Fortuna and her Substitute go rocketing toward the upper reaches of VIGIL where her lab is located, spiraling around each other in a double-helix. Hopefully the small, fast-moving targets will be difficult to take pot-shots at before she gets inside the Tower.

Dao turns and points to the demon. "Demon blocking our exit." He pulls out a canteen and takes a gulp of its contents, grimacing a bit. Seems he's gotten a bit used to drinking hot water.

    Courtyard

The two Mews will find a series of black arrows heading their way, moving quick enough to be little more than blurs through the air, and even if they miss and hit the building, large chunks of stone are going to be blasted out of it. Each of the Mews will have one of the black arrows fired at it to attract their attention before a blood red one is fired into the airspace between the pair. Once it reaches their altitude or if it gets stopped, the red arrow explodes, turning into hundreds of inch long slivers of metal with the purpose to incapacitate rather than kill.

Imagine getting dozens of long splinters that you'd have to pull out. Like that, but ten times worse.

    [Courtyard]

    Accursed AoE attacks!

Fortuna and her double dance around each other as she does her best to try to use the Substitute to take the brunt of the assault launched her way. The shards of metal bite into her psionic barrier, sending spiderweb fissures crackling through it with a sound like grinding glass. A bit of the force manages to get through to her, but the defenses she erected before making her run hold fast. At worst she's buffeted, but still going strong.

One of the Mews makes a break for the tower and will smash through one of the upper windows into the interior of the building while the other hangs outside, focusing on a rapidly growing orb of chakra between her paws that burns with an ultramarine so pure that it's almost painful to look at. With a shout, she releases the orb and sends it streaking toward the bow-wielding demoness like a rocket.

    Also?

For whatever weird reason her coloration has shifted from pink to a soft orange and blue in a pattern that looks hilariously similar to a certain famous warrior's sparring outfit.

    It's a concrete block.

Full of magic, too heavy for him to carry, so it might be pretty big, doesn't matter, though, I can get it out of here.

    Courtyard

The courtyard might not the the best place to stay at as Fortuna is right now flying above a whole group of demons that's standing down below. This makes her their sole target for their attention. Thankfully the demons don't have much in the way of ranged weapons and the demon lord itself is wandering towards the vault right now.
But swarms of insects and clouds of black gas is send towards the two mew, the mosquitoes simply splitting up among the two pokemons.
Neither will probably do any serious damage to her, but it might distract and weaken her as the insects carry poison and the black gas carry corruption.

Too risky, changing the material might affect the magic inside.

Don't worry, I can carry it, as long as it's under a couple hundred feet tall.

    Courtyard - Going Up

"Brothers, shield." The demon commands, resulting in her steed reaching out with a foreleg to grab a nearby monkey demon. It screeches in shock before being thrown before it starts screaming in horror when it finds itself in the path of the Mew's attack. Needless to say, the results of the interception are rather messy.

After the throw, the beast leaps onto the tower once more and begins to climb rapidly as its elder sister knocks back another red arrow. Despite the shakiness of moving up the tower, the demoness fires the arrow, making it explode in front of the Mew unless it is stopped. This time it is too far away to really do more than damage the shield some, but right behind it is a green arrow, using the cover of the explosion to hide. As it gets closer, the green arrow splits into three, separating into a weighted wire net with barbs on the inside. If it hits, it'll likely entangle the Mew and get caught in its flesh.
