    Default Quick survey

The questions below refer specifically to D&D 4e.

    1. Have you ever played a character from level 1 to level 30?

1a. If yes, how many times? If not, what's the highest level you achieved playing from level 1?

    2. Have you ever DMed a game with player characters going from level 1 to level 30?

2a. If yes, how many times? If not, what's the highest level your PCs achieved playing from level 1?

1a. Level 10; we'd probably have hit L11 on the next session, but the DM had an abrupt job change. That was about 11 months of weekly sessions.

    1. Have you ever played a character from level 1 to level 30?

    No.

1a. If yes, how many times? If not, what's the highest level you achieved playing from level 1?

I played a two sessions of LFR with two different characters. The second session resulted in my PC reaching level 2. (These were the only two times I have played D&D in nearly 30 years since switching to full-time DMing.)

    2. Have you ever DMed a game with player characters going from level 1 to level 30?

    No.

2a. If yes, how many times? If not, what's the highest level your PCs achieved playing from level 1?[/QUOTE]

    Level 10.

I prefer running Heroic Tier games, concluding the campaign, and then starting afresh. My players also prefer it.

    1. Kinda? The game started at 1 and ended at 30 (I joined after several sessions at level 5), we we leveled very fast, and often skipped level (about 7-10 in total). The final fight was at level 30.
    1a. Once.

    2. Nope, 1-late teens. 18 I think. Currently have another, but it just started on level 1.

we play mostly heroic to paragon level (7-16 being the sweet spot) but we enable the level 20 paragon power to be a daily at level 16 so it still gets used

I don't think I've ever had anyone go up a level when we started at level 1. We just never continued with those characters.

Nope to all. We've never made it quite to Epic. My players don't always stay on top of everything, and the system mastery requirements increase beyond what they're ready to do when you get that high.

Level 13 in 3e, 15 in Pathfinder, and 8 in 4e. The last campaign is ongoing.

Level 13 again (once in my previous campaign). The current campaign, currently level 13, is expected to reach level 20. It'll be the highest-level D&D campaign I've been in.

I'm DMing a campaign that's gone from1-27 and counting! We started in 2011 and are almost done!

Haven't really played a game for more than a few sessions.

    1: No
1a: I've only had one 4e character in a campaign that lived long enough for us to level. He started at 3rd level. Sadly, the session in which he leveled was also the last session of the campaign.

    2: No
    2a: 9th level (see below).

Wow, I'm impressed! My campaign in July of 2012 and we've only just reached 9th level. We are nowhere near to being done!

That's really interesting! We play every other Saturday from 3-8ish. We usually have a 3 week stoppage around the holidays. Do you meet less frequently?

1a. Current campaign started Spring 2012; We're at 21st level (decent chance we'll hit 22nd by the end of the month).
2 and 2b- No and no.

We place once a week most weeks, roughly 7:20-10:00. Usually enough time for one encounter, sometimes two, and a decent amount of RP in the former case.

4E sucks at 1st level, frankly, and aside from a couple of gag games I've never really played levels 1-4.

DM'd one game from 1-30. That one ran about five years.

Played one game from 1-27. That one took about three years.

I've started both playing and DM'ing other games since then that have a pretty good shot at making it to 30th level. The game I'm playing is now at 11th and the one I'm running is at 9th.

Odd answer: My primary game is DMing in a round, so I have played and DMed a game that has gone up to level 9 at maximum.

I've been part of a group that has run from level 1 to 30 (we've just reached 30 a few months ago and are going to finish out the level in the next several months).

We started out about four years ago and have alternated DMing on several occasions. There has been some moving in and out of players but the core group has remained the same. There have also been a lot of dead characters along the way.

Our biggest problem now is that several of the core members have moved and it can be several months between getting together.
