Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
New thread after 50 pages.
Up for discussion previously were the question of if there's been any word of DLC (not that I've heard) and whether Harding's romance is bugged and might possibly be fixed.
Before that we had yet another reiteration of the Mages Vs. Templars debate, befuddlement over the mechanics for selecting the new Divine and matching national stereotypes from a comic to party members.

Oh, and if anyone else is struggling through the buggy multiplayer, this weekend's event is hunting Druffalo.Last edited by Tome; 2015-03-13 at 05:54 PM.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
I'm surprised that anyone's still working through the multiplayer, especially given how lackluster and unbalanced it seems to be.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
Yeah, Dragon Age combat is just not inherently enjoyable in the same way Mass Effect 3's was, so the multiplayer had very little draw for me. Having class restricted weapons really brought out the flaws in the random loot boxes system too.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
I do have to wonder how the DA3 multiplayer is doing for Bioware overall. At least around here it definitely didn't go over nearly as well as ME3's did - it doesn't seem like any of us really liked it much. I tried it once for a couple of games and promptly gave up on it, myself. I know this place is hardly a representative sample of the fanbase, but it still makes me wonder if they're doing well enough to keep supporting it for as long as they did ME3's.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
I like the multiplayer combat far more than the SP combat but there's still far too many other games vying for my attention - and it's not nearly as fun as ME3 to pull me away from those other games.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
Indeed, I can say that from what I've heard about the multiplayer I have no desire to play it. Not that it sounds bad, but it doesn't exactly sound good either. I'm not going to waste my time on something mediocre when I could do something I genuinely enjoy instead.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
Did anyone else get bitten by the World State Bug? Because in the lead-up to Inquisition, I replayed Origins 3 times to get all the origins done, and am now on my second playthrough (third if you count the one from years back) of DAII. I'm doing this all for the purpose of having a different gamin experience on my (planned) 4 playthroughs of Inquisition.
Tell me guys, do I have a problem and do I need to stop?

Why not just redo the Tapestry? You'd have to do it anyway, I'm pretty sure.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
I have succeeded it my goal to do absolutely everything possible pre-Breach closing. Or at least I think I have. I'm up to level 12 and have fully unlocked the spirit path in the temple, is there anything I'm missing?

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
See I could do that, and I know that relaying the game is not required to edit a tapestry. But if I do it, then it doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel like I EARNED this world state because I didn't forge it myself during the game.
Crazy I know, but I can't ditch the hangup.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
Dunno if this is of interest to anyone, but I figured I'd mention it.
So apparently there's a secret sidequest in Dragon Age Inquisiton that was only recently discovered. Apparently, by following this rather elaborate procedure (including jumping in a cave in the Emerald Graves 50 times), you can cause a chest to appear in Emprise Du Lion that contains a powerful but kinda silly helmet called the Ardent Blossom. Basically, it's a laurel of flowers.
A Kotaku article on the subject.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
Is anyone else kind of frustrated at the gear the dragon's drop? The Hinterlands dragon, for example, is level 12 and drops a staff that requires you to be level 15 to use it. The Emerald Graves dragon, by contrast, is level 17 and drops armour that you need to be level 11 to use. Why don't they drop gear that's both usable by and useful for characters of their level?

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
"The Jaws of Hakkon." Interesting. Hakkon Wintersbreath is an Avvar deity, so ... heavy focus on the Avvar?
Also there's a patch. No Black Emporium, but it does make all The Fall mosaic pieces collectable.A father taken by time, a brother dead by my own hand.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
That looks like Solas (next to Cass and Cole) in the foreground - not sure if that means this DLC takes place prior to Cory or not. Hopefully it is post-ending DLC and not an Omega-style SP mid-game combat romp.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
It had its flaws, but I rather liked the Omega DLC. It introduced new characters with new powers (that you could steal for your own not unlike Megaman), and a glimpse of things you don't usually get to see (such as an emotionally vulnerable Aria)... Crap, now I want to play a round of Mass Effect as Rock Shepard..
Post-ending DLCs are not a popular choice, usually, because they're not accessible until after the game's already over. If they include cool and useful stuff (such as Legacy did), they're better as mid-game content. That said, I'd really prefer a focus on story over combat. After all, Citadel has become my gold standard for what makes a great DLC. ("Do I really sound like that? 'I should go'?" "Well, yeah.")Spoiler: My inventory:

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
Can anyone quote whats on that twitter link? I'm greatly curious if it's anything to do with solas (especially since I just started a new playthrough last night) but this pc blocks twitter, and my computer at home just crapped out last night and won't turn on now.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
I finally got around to picking up DA II, and am currently just beginning act II. What's a good time to play through Mark of the Assassin and Legacy? Can you leave them part way through, or are you locked into them once you start like Omega in ME3?

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
So apparently the DLC is coming out TOMORROW, not just the trailer. But only for XBox One and PC users.

https://twitter.com/biomarkdarrah/status/580111118477168640
I play Legacy mid-Act 2, just before All That Remains. I get an extra scene with Leandra that way. I play MotA just before the climax of Act 3; it acts as a breather episode before the taxing finale.
You can leave Legacy partway through, but you're locked in at a certain point. With MotA, you're locked in entirely.Last edited by Giggling Ghast; 2015-03-23 at 04:05 PM.

Re: Dragon Age Inquisition V: Hard in Hightown
"First on X-Box One and PC?" Well that's annoying. So us PS4 types - or anyone who grabbed it on either of the older consoles - get stuck with an extra wait period? Boo.
There's nothing much to quote. It's just an image which mostly shows icy-looking text saying "Coming Tomorrow: Dragon Age Inquisition: Jaws of Hakkon Official Trailer." The part I mentioned above being at the bottom of the image. The actual picture is pretty dark, foggy, and difficult to say anything about - just an Inquisitor and what looks like Solas and Cole standing in front of some big trees, one of which seems to have some wooden structures built around/on it it.Toph Pony avatar by Dirtytabs.
