I think part of it comes from the Giant, actually: the DStP commentary has a passage comparing Crystal and Thog that notes that, while there are some similarities between them as characters, they're different in that Thog is childlike whereas Crystal is simply dumb.

Check this game out! Or at least give it a thumbs up.

It's funny; when I read the strip the first time, I stopped at the penultimate frame thinking it was the end, and I thought, "Man, that's kind of anticlimactic compared to how cool the rest of the strip was. Hmph." Then when I scrolled down to read some older strips, I saw the end and was like, "Whaa-hahh! Gotcho dumb self!!!" (Clearly, eloquence escaped me at that moment.) (And I didn't say "self.") Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise.

I like how this arc is going! Keep it up!

So now we have had Crystal coming back as an intelligent golem. But we have not had a decent reincarnation. Which dead character is going to be reincarnated and as what? Perhaps Nale as a were-rabbit?

Maybe Belkar will be reincarnated... as a Kobold.

That's not fair. You cannot go into Belkar prophecy speculation like that. Please allow the poor guy to die first before reincarnating him.

Well, death is a prerequisite for reincarnation, isn't it?

Redcloak's long forgotten niece was obviously reincarnated as Miko Miyazaki. But that does not count because it will never be part of the main plot.

People always speculate on how Belkar is going to be alive at the end of the story despite the prophecies which all but said he will die off for good. The joke is both about their delusion and also a joke about the Reincarnation spell, which resurrects the character in another creature's body, including Kobolds, who Belkar hates.

It means perfectly ordinary, unremarkable, plain, or average. The etymology is uncertain, but standardization is a feature of mass production.

Bogs are a pretty uninspiring, drab, disappointing landscape feature.

Of course, I suppose it could also refer to the British slang for a toilet...

The OED suggests it's a corruption of "box-standard"—i.e., fresh out of the box, unmodified.

I don't know about that--any landscape that has the possibility of finding preserved ancient corpses and the requisite curses that go along with them can't really be that boring, right?
