Hey everyone

Completely new to D n D but I've been a role player and writer for literally as long as I can remember. To be honest my experience with this game is completely nonexistent aside from about 2.5 hours of youtube videos of how to get started in 5th edition by the Tabletop Terrors channel. Any guidance with where to begin with character creation and where a good place for beginners to start would be greatly appreciated. I have a slight idea of how it works with people but have only had one experience and never one online, so how rolling works and such is a mystery to me. While I might be a handful at first I can guarantee that once I'm integrated I can be a very fun asset to this forum.

I haven't played D&D for many years, just random games for the past years.

My favourite settings are Planescape and Ravenloft.

When it comes to editions I only acknowledge 3.5 (yes, really :) ).

I was drawn to this Forum due to the end of Min/Max Boards and was surprised how good it is and how helpful the users are. I am really bad at optimizing or even recognizing good/bad classes (when I started I thought Monk was overpowered lol).

This Forum has helped me a lot in looking for the best classes and combinations to translate a concept in my head into mechanics that actually work in the game.

Been lurking for about 2 years, and D&Ding for about a year. Played a good few homebrews, and decided to DM (3.5e) to teach my friends how to play and... well... to cut a long story short... I accidentally created... Everything. From Scratch. Pantheons, mythology, empires, factions, ancient history, creation myths, historical animosities, deeply embedded evils that threaten the very existence of the multiverse that can only be stopped by the combined might of the worlds most powerful beings!!!

Of course my players havent seen any of this... As they are still Lvl 3 in the first town getting whooped by goblins
