Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
Q381:
Creatures can go through allies spaces but cant charge. Can Creature use overrun to charge through space with allies and allies just let him go and don`t do AoO?
This sounds like rules bypass.

When using Overrun as part of a Charge, you must still obey all restrictions of the charge, which includes the "allies get in the way" bit.
When using Overrun, you can (generally) only choose to "run over" _one_ creature.

A381 addendum: There are a few ways to charge through allies to your target if you need to, e.g. Dragon Style or Charge Through. If you're a really good jumper (e.g. a monk) you can also do that during your charge and leap over your ally, but the DC is tough (generally at least 20.)

Roll twice and take highest/lowest and rerolls, part two:
Assume Ill Omen on a target, who makes a saving throw shortly afterwards. Assuming the rolls are 15 (Fail) and 13 (Fail), but 13 is the target's numerological gift totem number:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/race-...ampir---ru-shi
Does the changing the 13 into a 20 (And thus automatic success) happen before or after the 15 is discarded for the 13 roll? (Namely, is it 15;13>13>20; or is it 15;13>15;20>15?)Last edited by Tuvarkz; 2015-11-23 at 02:29 AM.

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A382: As with all the "stack roll twice ability" questions, it's a GM call at this juncture. If you want my personal interpretation I would go with the option that makes the racial stronger, i.e. the first one.
Note however that it would also depend on the wording of the ability - if it forces you to roll in sequence, you don't get to choose the order. (e.g. "You can force an enemy to reroll a save he or she has just made...")
A383: No, the spell does not appear to grant control. It's unclear what the spell is intended to be for, though there is apparently serious cheese by using Mount + Heighten Spell + Alter Summons to get a high level Summon Monster spell that lasts 2 hrs./level. (Granted, a conservative reading would be that the creature you get can only "serve as a mount" no matter how powerful it is.)Plague Doctor by Crimmy

Q. 384
The "Large" Eidolon evolution has the following line:
Spoiler: From d20pfsrd "Eidolons"The ability increase evolution costs twice as much (4 evolution points) when adding to the Strength or Constitution scores of a Large or Huge eidolon.
Does this apply retroactively? If one has already taken the ability increase evolution, does the Large evolution now cost 6? (4 for large, 2 extra for the old ability evolution)

There is a part two to this question if the first part is affirmative.
Does a Catfolk's Claw Blade attack count as a touch or Natural attack for the purposes of the Elemental Touch spell, since it is now a Weapon Attack?Last edited by RinceyNZ; 2015-11-24 at 12:34 AM.

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A384
Evolutions are not "locked in". Here's the key part:
"These abilities, called evolutions, can be changed whenever the summoner gains a new level, but they are otherwise set."
Whenever you level-up you effectively re-buy ALL of your Evolutions. So if you decide you now want the Large Evolution, then you must pay double for any STR/CON increases you also want. If you now can't afford them, you can't get them, and must spend the points elsewhere.
It's the same as if you had spend points on Tail and Sting, and then no longer wanted the Tail. Because you NEED a Tail to take Sting, and you got rid of the Tail, you must now ditch the Sting.
I suppose there's a slightly weird case of using Evolution Surge to grant the Large Evolution. But in that case I'd say it would only apply to any "new" Ability Increases.
A385
Claw Blades are a weapon attack:
"The blades grant the wearer ...and change the weapon type from a natural weapon to a light slashing weapon."
For all (most) intents and purposes, you no longer have a Natural Attack (with that hand) when using Claw Blades.

Q386
If a Swashbuckler has taken a bunch of Dex damage from poison or a spell etc such that his Dex bonus is lower than his Str, can he use his Str bonus to hit with Swashbuckler weapons and still get the benefits of the various class abilities (eg Weapon Training or Precise Strike)?

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A386: Yes - Weapon Finesse (and therefore Swashbuckler's Finesse) is optional, you can for whatever reason choose to use Strength to hit even if you have it. As for the other abilities you listed, they only care about what type of weapon you're using, not the ability score you're attacking with. You don't even need your Dex to be lower than your Str, so the dex damage/poison part is unnecessary.
Note that light weapons gain no additional benefit from strength even if held in both hands, whereas dex has many benefits (e.g. initiative, AC and reflex saves), so you have good reason to get your dex score healed up and go back to using it.Plague Doctor by Crimmy

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A387: It's vague whether you can activate a scroll defensively (I lean towards yes), but assuming you can, the DC would be just like the one for a spell, 15+(2x spell level).

Q 389
Does Sneak Attack damage apply when attacking with spells such as Acid Arrow?
If yes, is the extra damage applied on the second round?
Also, what if it's a Chill Touch and the damage in question is Str Damage? Is there extra damage at all? If so, is it applie to Str, or HP?

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A389a: Yes, sneak attack applies to spells with attack rolls.
A389b: No, the sneak attack won't repeat on subsequent rounds of the spell because there is no attack roll associated with that damage, just like a physical attack that causes bleed won't repeat the sneak attack damage every round along with the bleed either.
A389c: It only applies to hit point damage.Plague Doctor by Crimmy

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
Q 390
a) How long does a Bloodrager's Form of the Dragon last? Minutes per level or until they stop bloodraging?
b) What about Dragon Disciple Form of the Dragon, it states "His caster level for this effect is equal to his effective sorcerer levels for his draconic bloodline" and the only thing caster level affects in this case is spell duration.
c) If you have a Bloodrager 13/Dragon Disciple 7 whose Bloodline allows for Form of the Dragon II (assuming Dragon Disciple levels stack for the purpose of Draconic Bloodline) and Dragon Disciple allows for one Form of the Dragon I per day can they instead use Form of the Dragon II? Or would they need to be Bloodrager 10/ Dragon Disciple 10?

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A390
a) "Unless otherwise specified, he gains the effects of his bloodline powers only while in a bloodrage"
b) Dragon Disciple was written before other classes with bloodlines were considered. The only official "revision" is this FAQ.
Going by the intent of this FAQ, the Spell-Like Form of Dragon ability should have a duration of your total effective Bloodrager levels for Draconic Bloodline (so Bloodrager levels + DD levels).
c) based on the FAQ Dragon Disciple levels will still progress your Bloodrager Bloodlline.
You are mixing abilities here. Bloodrager Form of Dragon does not combine with Dragon Disciple Form of Dragon.
Assuming you have 15 levels total, but less than 10 levels of Dragon Disciple you have 2 options:
1) Bloodrage, and gain Form of Dragon 2 bonuses as per 'normal' Bloodrager
2) Use the Dragon Disciple ability to gain Form of Dragon 1 bonuses (regardless of Bloodrage or not)
Note that if you activate the Dragon Disciple Form of Dragon and ALSO Bloodrage, that the Bloodrage Form of Dragon 2 would effectively overwrite the Form of Dragon 1 bonuses, but when you stopped Bloodraging you would (likely) still have the Form of Dragon 1 bonuses.

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
Q391 Are creatures immune/not-subject to ability damage immune/not-subject to ability burn? The reason I ask, is that ability burn is listed as a special type of ability damage, but I just want to be sure.

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A391: I'm pretty sure that ability burn doesn't exist in any official Pathfinder rules, just the DSP Psionics 3rd party. Because it's a core balancing factor to those rules and always self inflicted (as far as I know), I'd say you can't become immune to it, or if you are you can't benefit from or use the ability/power that would otherwise inflict it.

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
Q391 How does the combination of the two mythic abilites "Limitless Range(Ex)" and "Unstoppable Shot(Ex)" work. Limitless Range multiplies the range increment of your ranged weapons by 5' and they no longer have a maximum range increment, while an unstoppable shot continues to the maximum range of the weapon. Does this in fact mean that the shot will continue until it encounters "any barrier the attack couldn't penetrate". which leads me to
Q392: How is "any barrier the attack couldn't penetrate" defined, does this mean that it did not destroy the target, or that it failed to overcome DR or hardness, or something else?Last edited by Darkon47; 2015-12-03 at 11:19 AM.

Re: Simple Q&A by RAW for Pathfinder 4
A391: Yes.
A392: Like most other lines, this would be a barrier that blocks line of effect, like a door. The easy reference would be the classic Line, a Lightning Bolt, which states: "If the damage caused to an interposing barrier shatters or breaks through it, the bolt may continue beyond the barrier if the spell's range permits; otherwise, it stops at the barrier just as any other spell effect does." So just apply that definition to Unstoppable Shot and we see that yes, things like DR and HP of the barrier all matter.Plague Doctor by Crimmy
