The kitsune curtsies and scurries to the kitchen.

In a moment, she's back with a plate of ham, and a plate of lobsters, and serves each person their food. "Will there be anything else?"

"Yes actually. I was just curious about this place." Vax gestures vaguely around. "The Biting Knife. An interesting name that. Not what I would have expected."

Manager's Office

"I think you'll be able to appreciate my credentials," the dark elf promised, handing a reference list to the manager.
"I am a skilled alchemist, and can brew practically anything I see. If a fight breaks out, I am well-versed in magic and scimitars. I have five years of experience at law in Drow court, which involves charisma and occasional moose-wrestling. I feel that my skills as a lawyer, especially, will help me to bar tends often." Xihirli noted that the manager seemed bored.
"I have nowhere to go right now," the drow mentioned.
"As it turns out, the drow culture is terrible. The elf who killed my grandfather got off on the grounds that it was only her allies that killed my grandfather for money from her hand, while she simply stood idly by and claimed credit for the deed whenever it was politically convenient." Noting that the manager did not seem to understand how the drow was not bagged, Xihirli hastily added;
"This counted as defending him under drow law. Or at least the jury thought so, after I was done with them. Those are the skills I could bring to this bar."

"It's new right? Just started?" Zhareen asks on her side of the table. "I heard you focus on a special kind of clientele."

The scorpion looks confused.
"That sounds difficult. I guess this Sweet Spring created you for some kind of task?"

Dark Dreams closes her eyes briefly

Not precisely: I was part of a group that kidnapped an avatar of the goddess Inari. As you might expect, that did not turn out well for us. My friends and I ended up fortunate in that our sentence works out to Community Service.

Jinkei curtsies. "Well, the owner, Mr. Ezra Sharpe, is a blade vampire. He feeds on metal and lubricant oil. Also on blood, but via stabbing. That's where he got the name, since that's how he turns people too: by stabbing them in just the right way."

She nods to Zhareen. "Yes, that we do, miss. A place where non-humans can come and have fun without fear of prejudice."

[Vamptok's Offer]

Ezra just laughs.

"Prevent conflict. Hah. Stop trying to act so noble... ah, there it is. A show of disgust to get a rise out of me. Something one who truly has conflict prevention in mind won't be doing now, isn't it?"

"I'm sorry you feel that way. Bye now!"

Without looking back, Ezra heads back to the bar.

Here's Tavlii, outwardly human (well, except for the wings), leading Katrina and Caroline into the club and towards the dance floor. Of course, she can't come here dressed like in that picture. Though I'm not sure her current suit and tie is an improvement, exactly, it's certainly a different direction.

"So here we are." Flashing lights, pounding music, danger all around you. All the excitement they came for.
"A bit too brightly colored - and think of those poor Vulpans with their inability to distinguish blues - but I can't expect it to be perfect."

Archibald Sharpe approaches the ladies. The windpire is basically a floating cowboy hat and glasses on an invisible head, and there's the sound of rushing wind around him. Those who can see invisible will find that all they see is rushing wind in a vaguely human form.

Good thing, too, because if he were without the anti-invisibility rune, his sanity-rending form might damage the three's minds.

"Evening and welcome to the Biting Knife, ladies." He says in a tinny voice.

Yes, it is bright... and louder than I'm used to.

Katrina is digging it

Mind-damage, not likely. Tavlii is partly here as a reminder for how to relate with normal people. Not that either of Caroline or Katrina are exactly normal, but they're the next best thing.

She nods to Archibald, spreading her wings slightly in something of a reverse-bow.

"Oh, eh.." Tovpir is not sure what to say. He got no idea about Inari so he can't say if the kidnapping was a good or evil act. (Likly evil cause good normaly don't kidnap people.)
"I'm sure it could have come worst then that."
By now the scorpion stands up, shaking of the last bits of the fly. He appears ok right now.

The three are led to a free booth, the booth where Ezra and Vamptok sat... the booth that happens to be close to our presently deadtimed vampire ladies.

"So, is there anything I can get for you ladies?"

Then she slips into the booth, smiling.

"So that's one Cosmo, one Moscow Mule and one Emerald Eye coming right up!" Archibald waves Jinkei over and relays the information to her. "I'm with the vampire ladies with the cute whimpering girl. Wonder if she's single... Anyway, serve these ladies, please."

Jinkei curtsies and waves to the trio before going to fetch their drinks. At the same time, Archibald returns to the vampires' side.

She returns rather quickly and sets the drinks on the table. "So how're you finding the place?" She giggles. "It was scary to work here, before I discovered my kitsune side!"

"My drink is worth something, since those humans would die when they drink it. I just hope it's not my fault they don't serve you."
The stoen scorpion still stands in front od the stone like platform. He hasn't made a step on it, maybe he fears another mishap when he goes up their. With his sting he grabs his glass from the table and takes a sip of the lava he ordered.

Jinkei smiles and bows a bit to Caroline. "Thank you!" Then Katrina adds her bit, prompting Jinkei to smile. "Won't!" She winks.

"You have no idea, Tavili. Vampires playing on my fear of them... putting gruesome images in my head, then she summoned that... that crime of nature!" She shivers.

Of course, she's referring to Cora.

"Someone else made her scared, though, and it feels good."

Jinkei will wait for their answer, then quickly curtsy. "Sorry, girls, but one second." Then she'll scurry over to Dark Dreams and refill her cup.

"Would you like anything else, miss?"

When Jinkei leaves, KC moves in to attend to this trio. 'Hello, do you need anything?'

Vax raises an eyebrow. Not quite the response she had been expecting. But more on the second part, "Without fear of prejudice? I wasn't aware that was a huge problem here. I've yet to experience it myself." In fact, she gets more of that from people from her own world. Though all things considered, she doesn't blame them all that much.

That was straightforward. People sure didn't sugarcoat it around here. "I've experienced the complete opposite actually." Zhareen says, having more experience with the nexus than her wife. "Compared to our homeworld the nexus is really open minded about non-human beings. I was quite amazed actually in how little prejudices there are around here. But I suppose it can't exist for long in a world where all realities go together like this."

"Nothing else for me."

Tavlii shakes her head and takes a deep drink.

"Katrina has the right idea; it isn't time to sit and talk yet."

While Jinkei's wondering exactly what to reply, Ezra heads to their table.

"Hello ladies, and it's a pleasure to see you again, Zhareen. I'm sorry we met under such circumstances. My willingness to help those in need tends to get the better of me!" He chuckles and scratches his red hair. "Learnt my lesson, though." His face turns sour and he sighs.

"But enough about sad matters. You asked about why this place exists? Well, for one, I thought the Nexus could use a place where non-humans could be free to be themselves while having fun. It could also help spread awareness about Malechenar to other vampires... something Rhye should appreciate."

As Ezra speaks, Jinkei takes the opportunity to scurry away.

Jinkei scurries over to the kitchen to get Dark Dreams' order, then returns to serve it to her. After that, she rushes over to Topvir's side. "How can I help?"

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of questioning why this place should exist. I was just a bit surprised by the explanation." Vax sips her water, though she doesn't remove her unblinking stare from Ezra. "My name is Vax, before I forget to mention. I'm Zhareen's wife. I never knew you two were acquainted."
