Spoiler button.

Don't know if it's just me or what, but hitting the spoiler tag button crashes Safari on both my iOS devices. One is running the mobile site version, the other isn't.

That's really weird, since the Javascript that toggles the spoiler is incredibly simple code - find the related spoiler box of the button, check its state, and then apply the classes for the other state. Safari does use a separate JS engine from everything else, but I doubt it can't handle slightly cavalier approaches to DOM manipulation.

Can you see what it says in the inspector console when you click the button?

I've used various versions of iOS and Safari on this site, on various different Apple devices, and I can honestly say I've never had this problem. It definitely works on iOS 6, 7, and 8 (just tested).

What device are you using? What version of iOS? What version of Safari?

Have you tried clearing Safari's internet cache?

I'm using an ipad(2nd generation) with version 8.3. Not sure which version Safari is.
Also, my iPhone 5c is at version 8.3 as well.

Also, I realize I should clarify this, but I am talking about the button in the toolbar for me to insert spoiler tags into a post. Not to read something in a spoiler. Sorry this wasn't clear before.

This is definetely a problem. It does it to me as well iOS version 8.3 iPad Air. I also posted about the same problem when trying to use the hyperlink button.

OK, that's even weirder, since that button works exactly like all of the other buttons in the editor: It inserts a string of text in front of the selection, and another string at the end. Do any of the other toolbar buttons do that for you?

I've found that it's those ones that open a dialog box - spoiler, image, link. (Remember spoiler asks for a title now) I'm in the same situation - iOS 8.3, safari, Ipad 2, site in web version - and all of these buttons crash Safari.

They also in some way don't work in mobile chrome - but i can't remember how, and don't have my device with me so can't check. I think maybe they open the box but you can't type in it or something?

Ah, that's a little different to how you explained it, and totally impossible as initially explained. The mobile site does not have a button to insert spoilers (or indeed, any buttons at all to insert any bbcode) into a post you are composing.

With this new information, I have confirmed that the issue exists and have reported it both to vBulletin and to Apple.

Thanks, Rawhide. I was just gonna bring up the same issue (iPhone 5s in my case, also iOS version 8.3).
