It was in the W&XP guidebook excerpt, though - I was thinking maybe it didn't count because it's only a "historical" location.

I have other names in the list that are not current names of countries or whatever. For instance, the former names of the Empire of Blood that Tarquin listed. I probably didn't have Ancient Empire because I had no idea what to write about it. Either that or I missed it totally. Anyway, now we have a better idea what it was.

Expanded descriptions of a number of entries, especially those on the Western Continent. Added T.B.D. (also on that continent) which I'd overlooked before. Didn't add the place marked "???"; not sure what to do with that; don't really want a non-alpha section.

Yet more changes, although nothing major this time. The big thing is that I noticed in DStP at the beginning of Round 4 (just after strip 550), there's a map showing the travels of the two subparties. As far as this gazetteer goes, the main thing is that it shows that Greysky City is close to the eastern coast, rather than the western coast as I had thought. That also moves Lair Island to that coast.

Any reason why the locales on the map of the Greysky City region are not in the gazetteer?

    Specifically:
    Barrier River
    Cove Bay
    Division Mountains
    Here
    There
    This River

also, the entry for "Tunnelsburg" is missing the "s".

OK, found the map of Greysky City area. It's on this page oots.wikia.com/wiki/Greysky_City (although I don't suggest anyone go to that page; it locked up my computer for a while). It claims it's from War and XPs (no page number given) and I'm fairly sure it's not in that book. It's done in more-or-less the same style as the Azure City map, so it looks fairly authentic. But it's the wrong book for such a map; all the scenes from Greysky were in DStP. In fact, I don't think Greysky was even mentioned by name before strip 531, which is in DStP.

    Conclusion: it's probably fanwank.

I flipped through both W&XPs and DStP to double check things, and the closest I found was a map on the cover to Round 4 in DStP that shows Haley and Belkar's journey from Azure City to Sunken Valley and then up to Cliffport Greysky City that could have inspired the fan-map.

Yes, I just recently noticed that map (see post #65 of this thread). And you mean Greysky City as Haley's final destination on that trip.

BTW, if anyone wants to see the oots.wikia Greysky map without going to that page, do a google search for >>Greysky City map<< and look at it with Google's image viewer. For me, it was the first image in the row.

    It's from the

digital edition of DStP, page BMii, above the entry on Beige Dragons. There's a section called "The sourcebook that never was". There's two other maps, the first showing the nation of Uptharnorr, which lies north of Cliffport, and the other detailing the Undescribed Country.

I could write entries for the Gazetteer for the locations from that bit if you like.

I didn't buy the digital editions, figuring there wasn't enough new stuff in them to make them worthwhile. Now you're making me reconsider that.

OK, got the additions from DStP Digital Edition. I didn't add entries for the "places" in the list below because, well, too vague. If anyone has an idea of what to write for them, make a suggestion.

Glad to have you aboard. This thread doesn't get updated very often, although every once in a while I find something new. Besides the stuff from the digital edition, I also recently added a town in the "insufficient data" section at the bottom. At least I assume a place that "sells" bridges to low Int/Wis yokels is a town.

The most recent change was in the post I'd reserved for future use (3rd post in the thread). I'd like feedback on what everyone thinks of it. What I did was slightly experimental, so I'd really appreciate responses. (Actually, on thinking it over, I should expand the bare outline with text, but different text than in the other list.)

I think that the outline is pretty cool, and also potentially fairly useful if someone wants to get a better sense of the geography, but doesn't have all the maps in front of them.

Are you sure it's an actual place in-universe, rather than just a reference? I would assume the joke works better if Terabithia does NOT exist, at any rate, since buying a bridge that leads to a fictional place shows your gullibility better than buying a bridge that leads somewhere. I mean if Redcloak had said wardrobe and Narnia instead, I wouldn't assume there is a Narnia in OOTS.

I was unaware of the book. I just assumed the author was making a bridge to Brooklyn joke with a made up name instead of that city. OK, I guess I'll remove it.

For the same reason I wouldn't have the equator (if that were marked on the map) on the list. It's just a usual and expected part of a spherical globe. Now if it turns out there's a colony of toymaking elves run by a fat guy in red fur-lined clothes there, then I'll add it.

Isn't the North Pole where Kraagor's Tomb of monsters is that Serini made? Could be getting that wrong...

That's already listed as its own location under the alternate names "Kraagor's Tomb" and "Monster Hollow". And, while it's pretty far north into the glacial region, I don't recall seeing any mention to it being actually in the North Pole.

That's when they were approaching the Gate area. In 1050 they've told Haley that they're at the north pole. I'm inclined to think that they're at the pole, or pretty much right next to it.

Oh, I missed that. Yeah, from the dialogue it seems like Monster Hollow is actually on the north pole.
