    Neat! Like a modern day legend. A boogie man come from the woods to take you... or something like that. If he turns off his light you probably couldn't see him for the trees.

    Progress is good! I've been doing faces primarily because they're the most fun, but I've also been doing bunch of body-shapes. But hands! Hands are a great idea to focus on the bus! I did eight pages of hands since you ask me and am going to do more - I'm trying to mentally break them down into component shapes and circles. It's hard, but this is the best time and place to practice!

    I'm actually convinced that hands are impossible to draw accurately. Even the greatest artists, if you stare at the hands in their pictures and really inspect them, all end up being just a little off or unnatural.

    Welcome to being an artist. Reality is weird and things don't look like the things they're meant to be.

    Pfft, I've been an artist since age five. Everything is always weird.

    I just happen to be pretty good at installing filters so I can do my desk job without freaking out, cause wow you ever try to do Excel pivot tables without filters? Well that and you know how it is when you're staring at the world sans filters-- you end up with way more ideas than you have time to work them. So... I guess curses on Anarion for remotely turning off my filters. ^^;

    You know what else bugs me? Never fails that as soon as I start working on some art and get into a grove, my body tells me I need to eat or pee or do something that necessitates I get up. Do you get those moments?

    Ditto on the lifelong artist bit, and the way more ideas bit too. But sorry no, I don't have the body-interrupting dilemma. I'm a procrastinator and I have trouble starting. Once I do start though, I can work for 10 hours straight with out sleeping, peeing, eating, or hearing the phone ring. It's scary.

    Day 1823: Closure

    So year in review.

    I got a permanent job. I purchased my very own house and moved out of my parent's place. I've been eating healthier and more varied foods, I've been learning to cook, I've been exercising better. I've finally stopped obsessing about saving money and started to get the things I've always wanted. I've constructed a healthy social network online and offline. I've been keeping my place meticulously clean and have avoided any hint of clutter. I've been reading a huge amount.

    I'm almost always happy.

    I've been on a sustained positive note for almost this entire year. It's been a year where all my goals have been met and I've just been soaking in the sensation of having everything that I want and need.

    What I haven't done is made huge progress on writing or art. Writing, I don't think I've done a single serious piece of sit down solo writing - or even planning for solo writing - all year around. Couple of drafts, some good stuff, but nothing complete. Art's also suffered. I've had to adjust a lot of habits and routines to the new demands on my time and mental energy. I can't say I'm happy with my visual output this year; I've produced less digital art pieces this year than any other. Unemployment had benefits, I guess. But I'm doing some solid stuff with my sketchbooks and I'll try and get some photos up tomorrow.

    I haven't missed a day. The will remains; bus sketching isn't glamorous but it keeps my hand in and exposes me to all kinds of challenges I don't have when working from my computer. I still have 8,177 days to go, there's still lots of time. But I'm really out of practise with colour and haven't fully mapped out the way to approach Corel again, though I am a lot more familiar with it than I used to be.

    But to be realistic, this is probably the level art will remain on for another year - firmly as a hobby, with 30-40 minutes invested a day. I've got some leave coming up and I plan to get as in depth as possible during that time but this all isn't quite normal yet. I think if I can pick away at the basics day to day, the intractable problems like hands and stances and facial expressions, then I'll have a much stronger foundation in the future.

    And hey. Giving randoms on the bus sketches of themselves always makes their day.

    If "++" means Fusion Dance, and "+++" means Potara Fusion, could you draw some fanart of [(Kaioken x10 SSB Goku) +++ (SS4 Vegeta)] ++ (LegendarySS3 Broly)?

    I'm well aware that there are three different, mutually exclusive, continuities involved. I don't care, because it still sounds awesome.
