Well... I'm assuming it's a version of a baton...

She takes what seems to be a small flashlight from her belt and pushes the button and what seems to be a razor-thin beam of light extends very nearly silently, making only the slightest hiss. She turns it off again, hangs it on her back on her belt, then activates the lightsabre with it's trademark whoosh and hum.

Uh... yeah...

off it goes and back on the rack.

I think I'll stick with these for now. If anything more specialized comes up, presumably I'll have time to equip. If not, I'll make due.

Linda thinks she enjoys playing with kit, she hasn't seen Grant in the midst of really big weapons.

Oh, yeah. Capital ship weapons systems were the "Specialist" part of my rank, after all. Granted we're talking rather smaller, but it's closer than these tinker-toys. I don't get excited until where talking at least megajoules.

"I'm not that fragile, yeah. And besides, you're soft! That does tend to help with the not breaking bones bit." She giggles a bit, shrugging as she steps forward to hug Civvy. "Are you alright, though? I mean, I did sort of land on you a little. And the floor's a lot less cuddly than you are! Probably. I mean I haven't tried to cuddle the floor. But they usually are. Not cuddly in general, I mean, since I don't think that falling on top of you really counts for determining your cuddliness specifically?"

...Civvy may be rubbing off on her. Which is either adorable or terrifying, depending on perspective. Or maybe both; the Nexus is like that sometimes. "And yes. Let's not then! No reason he'd need to know. As for what brings me here... It seemed interesting? And the whole 'bringing help to people' bit sounded nice. But yes! A tour would be fun. As long as it's not the boring sort of tour but you don't seem like the kind of person who'd give one of those."

Civvy cheers slightly! Though if that's because Civvy's soft or because her new bestest friend isn't fragile or maybe it's just because of the hug! Hard to tell for sure. Either way she returns the hug happily! "I am totally fine!" Civvy replies, grinning. "Thank you so much for checking though! MMMM." This last was said with a tightening of the hug, before letting her go.

"All good reasons for coming here! Let's go on a tour!" With that, Civvy boldly leads the way onwards to adventure!
Around the base they go! To the rooms to sleep in, the kitchen, the pool, the training area, the kitchen, the TV room, and all sorts of other rooms HALO has that I might be forgetting! Cirae can, of course, interrupt at any time if she wants more information about anywhere!

Meanwhile

"Uh-huh." Aiden takes the phone and lifts it to his ear, saying, "Sorry, we're too busy wondering what in the world an uncle Jr. is. Talk to you later!" And on that, he hangs up the phone.

Catherine just loooooks at Aiden, her hands over he mouth in a 'You did whaaaaaat' sort of expression. "Holy crap you just hung up on him."

Aiden casually tosses the phone back at Catherine. "Course I did. I mean, what's an Uncle Jr. anyway? A cousin?"

Ross decides to follow behind Marlena and get work down taking samples from a few of the plants as he follows behind in her frolic fest.

Or maybe she should actually be made a member first. Not that there's a rule about non-members using it. Probably. Even if there is, though, she's being escorted, so that should be enough.

One would think, anyway. But it's hard to say? Regulations are weird things sometimes. Ah well. Perhaps just the kitchen instead, for ice cream and chatting. Regardless, though, Civvy will be allowed to choose their next destination, as the newcomer quietly tries to sort everything she's been told into some semblance of order!

I was just in a battle with some demons, they basically destroyed VIGIL, and I don't think they are planning to stop there.

"Youuuu're looking like that might have been a bit too fast." Civvy says, squinting slightly at Cirae. Civvy is fairly good at reading tells, the drawback is she's not so good at- "So do you want to do it again to make sure you've got it?" -coming up with solutions.

"That's exactly what I asked!" Catherine says, putting the phone back into its pocket. "And he was like Nooooooo," her impression is, of course, not very good at all. "I am your uncle's brotherrrrrrrr."
It almost sounded like she was trying to go for Super Kami Guru there.

Thanks. Had to dig through the collection here to find anything reasonable. And they're mostly nice, anyway... they both need a bit of work - mostly TLC and fine tuning, but this one's got some capacitors that really could use replacement.

I have someone people you might want to meet. The daemphages are pretty nice people.

She asks. The name sounds familiar, and she's pretty sure he mentioned them before but she just can't remember.

The Daemphages. They look like people for the most part. Designed to kill demons, monsters and other things like that. They absorb the power of the things they kill and get stronger. Ours don't do too much fighting anymore but they're still pretty interesting to meet.

Ross says as he takes a seat down next to Marlena.

Unfortunately, focusing on un-soldering an unreasonably high-capacity capacitor, Linda missed the trick

This 1500 farad capacitor is swollen and ready to fail: don't need that kind of current discharging in something I'm holding. It has five little brothers that are in various states of decay, too - they weren't rated for this sort of use. They really ought to have been solid-phase, not electrolytic, and they don't even all match. I'm guessing I'm not the first person to get this hand-me-down rifle...

Ugh.. this diode's cold-soldered, this transformer has three full coils melted together, exciter tube's got a fingerprint on it - that'll get fun after twenty shots or so... this rifle's very nearly as dangerous to the shooter as to the target.

Lucky walks over to Linda and peeks at the capacitor. Without a word, he touches each of the materials she speaks of and turns them into functioning versions of themselves. In addition, the capacitors are made solid-phase.

"Test it now."

Linda blinks, her ears fold down and her mouth hangs open in utter astonishment

You... you healed a rifle?!

Lucky shakes his head. "Atomic manipulation. Lucky can manipulate tings at the sub-atomic level." He takes out his chain and starts playing with it, as usual. He holds it up so Linda can see, and turns it into various materials.

"Dunno how, must be Lucky's genes. As if being a half-vampire wasn't enough."

Yeah... whatever... that's how you did it, which isn't what I said. But whatever.

She puts the various plates and covers back in place, slaps in a battery pack, and hits a switch

weeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

and there's the ear-splitting whine of a charge-pump filling capacitors! Linda grins

Now that's what I like to hear!

A target comes into sight, and she turns the weapon toward it... there is only the faintest "pop" and a tremendously brief, bright flash on the target that leaves unpleasant after-images for a few moments before revealing a hole burned neatly through... a way off of bulls-eye, but on the inner part of the second ring. There's no move sound effects, no visible trail through the air... just a no-nonsense directed-energy weapon doing its thing.

There we go. Little more visible spectrum than I like to see, but not bad at all.

Lucky says nothing, choosing instead to watch her as she tests out her new weapon.

"Hmph. A laser. Dose were common back in de wastes."

"De light is rather troublesome. Lucky can do away with dat, if you wished. Lucky would suggest you coming to huntside with him, but he remembers dat everyone betrays, especially foxes. Too bad, really. Lucky'd love to see de rifle in action."

"Yah! We go to Huntside, den. Test it out on a few monsters. Jus'... try not to shoot Lucky in de back."

He pockets his chain and makes his way over to the door, before turning around. "Dose ears, dat form... you some kind of fox-girl?"

Evan is in the kitchen, set up with a bottle that looks like he has been drinking quite a while. His face is pulled into a frown of utter contempt as he downs another glass and pours himself another. The rifle he has habitually carried with him since coming to HALO is resting in a corner on the far side of the room looking rather neglected, especially for someone as compulsive about weapons care as Evan.
