Re: Planetouched play D&D
So what class level do you think Kergerenko will take once she finally earns that first thousand XP? I'm thinking some kind of caster, just because she doesn't seem like someone who'd want to get up close and personal with (potentially slimy) enemies. But Tier 1 caster doesn't quite seem right either... Maybe bard?

Re: Planetouched play D&D
I'm thinking Kergerenko has a few levels of Expert on her--surviving for most of the One Year War has to be worth something, and if she only had one hit dice she'd have died back at the tavern fight.
But yeah, bard seems likely.

Re: Planetouched play D&D
Sorry folks, no update today, because writing with a hangover is a bad idea. But what I did do is edit the first post in this thread to have a proper header and a strip index. Let me know what you think.
And again, if anything confuses you, feel free to ask about it so I can explain or work to make it clearer. I'm prepared to work to fix things that are problems but I cannot fix what I haven't been made aware is a problem.

Re: Planetouched play D&D
Interesting how they can torture some poor guy without even intending to do so... Well, torture him with something they see as normal chatting.
But I have to agree with the bandit, having to listen to those guys would be torture. I think my reaction would be similar.
And I agree with Jekub, having to figure out what exactly just happened is what makes this fun to read."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Spoiler: Well, they're trying.
The Queen of Jordan is a very attractive brunette, for those who don't get the bit in the middle.
And remember, workplace sexual harassment is wrong. Except when the victim is a foul-mouthed Tiefling adventuress. Then it's just a very bad idea.Last edited by Marlowe; 2015-11-22 at 04:20 AM.

Re: Planetouched play D&D
Spoiler: Don't even get them started on double negatives.
The name "Xanslar" is a combination of Xanten (in the Rhineland) and Goslar (the ancient fortress of the Welf family in the Harz mountains).
I once had a room-mate who fancied himself as "learned" and mocked me for using the name "Xanten" in something, claiming that it bore no resemblance to any real name and was therefore "silly".
He was really annoyed when I pointed out it was not only a real place name but the birthplace of Siegfried.
He also objected to the name "Langden", implying it was absurd beyond his powers of description. I never bothered to point out it was from Jonathon Swift.
Sometimes I thought he wasn't as learned as he thought he was.

Spoiler: I'm getting rather tired of this guy
Last edited by Marlowe; 2015-11-24 at 08:03 AM. Reason: Fixed typo in panel 9, added buffer to bottom of panel 2 to avoid tangling with panel 3. Should remember by now not to have speech going off top and bottom of panel.

Re: Planetouched play D&D
Nice. I checked that song again and it finally got through. In previous times I heard it I didn't quite like it, but I "get it" now and I like it. I've found out that Mirai is the development of the song into Japanese lyrics. But Mirai has a little childish [edit, probably not the right word] touch to it that bugs me a little, while "Credens justitiam" hasn't (or I've not detected in this first time I've found I like it). [Actually, I see in Youtube there are different versions, different rhythms, different voices]
Music composed by Yuki Kajiura (See-saw, then FictionJunction (no missing space) and now Karafina (or Kalafina as some transliterate it. Karafina would be for Spanish as if it was named Thinphace for English) is highly recommendable. The proportion of songs I like is low (like 50%, compared to around 90% for other groups I like as El último de la fila, Joaquín Sabina, Dire Straits...) but the proportion of music that really delight me is higher (like 35-40% to 10-15% for music by the others mentioned). Percentages made up from what I feel they are, they may actually be higher or lower, I haven't actually made a count of each group.
There is to note that, since almost everything she composes is work for OSTs, it means she's having to match certain moods and themes and some of them aren't meant for songs I like at all and possibly you neither. I mean, if you find one or two or three songs that made you go "Yuck, this is for three year olds" or "yuck, X" don't think that's true for everything she's composed.Last edited by Admiral Harkov; 2015-11-27 at 06:39 AM.

(Ah, yes. I reread and there are some phrases that sound off. Specially that last paragraph I suspect is somewhat messy, maybe more than I suspect. But not editing now, as when I begin to edit and reedit that kind of error I usually end making it worse and I'd end with "Wraaarrrgggroaaarrr gUUuhhh-haaaaworrr". Sorry about it, at times I fumble my English)Last edited by Admiral Harkov; 2015-11-27 at 01:19 PM.

Oh, I was just joking about Yuki Kajiura's made-up language. No comment on your commentary.

Re: Planetouched play D&D
Oh, ok. I thought I had written something barely intelligible. It happens to me some times, I've twice even ended saying the exact opposite of what I intended and once of them I didn't even recognize where did it turn to mean the opposite on re-reading. So I re-read and a couple of points I suspected could have been written better so thought it might have been that
