My first E-book...
...Is up in the Amazon Kindle store! Self-publishing is easy these days.
I finally got around to writing up stories from my campaign setting, like I said I would.
Just thought I'd share. I'm positively giddy right now!
EDIT: As requested, one link!

Re: My first E-book...
Morbis! Long time no see, man!
I've been... Whoo. Got a reminder last year that life's too damn short, so I've been PbPing less, and working on writing.
I do miss our old groups, but life's going well now. And I've got a new creative outlet, which is earning me a little money at the same time, so I'm happy!
Hope you like the book, and if you do then buckle in for a sweet ride... There will be plenty more to come...

Re: My first E-book...
I know the feeling, I had to take a break away this year due to the passing of a few family members not to mention starting grad school. Glad to see you are writing I always loved how immersive you made games so it should be a good read (I need to read more ) I hope your family is doing well!

Re: My first E-book...
Sweet! I'll check it out sometime. How easy/hard is it to get an ebook on Kindle/Amazon? I'd like to give it a try, once I actually manage to finish a book

Re: My first E-book...
Looks interesting. I'll think about getting it next time I'm paid.
Spoiler
So the song runs on, with shift and change,
Through the years that have no name,
And the late notes soar to a higher range,
But the theme is still the same.
Man's battle-cry and the guns' reply
Blend in with the old, old rhyme
That was traced in the score of the strata marks
While millenniums winked like campfire sparks
Down the winds of unguessed time. -- 4th Stanza, The Bad Lands, Badger Clark

Re: My first E-book...
It's actually not too hard to get an ebook up on Kindle/Amazon.
Mind you, you'll want to read up and research on formatting your document for e-book reading. And even then, you'll want to put it through their preview app, and check it page by page, line by line. If you're putting your name on something and saying "This is good, buy it!" it behooves you to eliminate all the mistakes you can find.
Editors and beta readers are worth their weight in gold, my friend. They save you a crap-ton of work later...

Re: My first E-book...
That goes without saying, but it's a good reminder.
I haven't worked with editors yet - haven't published anything in a serious way yet - but the importance of both editors and beta readers has been impressed upon me by people in the industry. I'll probably have to get around to that stuff someday.
Thanks for your experiences! And no, I haven't forgotten about getting your ebook, I'll get around to that soon :)The Heplion Contingency - Low-tech Cyberpunk with Psychic Powers!

Re: My first E-book...
In terms of formatting the eBook, there's a company called Smashwords that's kind of a distribution engine. It goes to many of the major sites and has a pretty comprehensive style guide you can follow to get the formatting up to snuff.

Re: My first E-book...
No rush! Preview when you get the time, buy if you like it, review if you REALLY like it.
Seriously though, my grand master plan means I don't have to care so much about rapid purchases, or chasing chart stats. Kind of a relief, really, that stuff's hard to do without a solid advertising campaign and invested cash.
@Cristo: Yeah, I looked at Smashwords. They were a solid option, but at the end of the day I couldn't ignore the market reach of Amazon, and the bennies to going Kindle. That's how it worked out for ME, mind you, other people are gonna be coming at it from different angles, and have their own variables to consider.
