I'm kind of getting the sense that Jeph is a bit of an arachnophobe himself, given the repeated emphasis on him being a big robot spider.
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.

I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that.

He's obviously got your place bugged with listening devices and hidden cameras, Hanners, and knows all about you.

Also, there are more devices hidden in the fruit basket. Better throw them out. Or send them to me.

Scrubbing won't be enough to cleanse Pintsize. Even nuking the site from orbit isn't enough to be sure.

I feel she's serious. Which kind of makes me like her less. I mean, sure, personal preference for anyone but thinking "reading is frivolity" is something that easily makes me dislike you... sorry, Bubbles.

She's not a person except possibly in the legal sense. She is a robot. It is entirely possible that robots (or just her model of robot) are not capable of the sort of flights of imagination that make reading an enjoyable experience and not just absorbing an account of a made-up event.

In fact, I can think of several logical reasons why a combat droid's personality software would be disinclined for the sort of flights of fancy or spontaneous imagination that make reading enjoyable.

While this embarks far in the territory of speculation... I don't think that's how AIs work in QC verse. Otherwise what was the inital thought behind Pintsize' programming? Or May's inclination towards crime? I feel the AI are not/can not be made with such predispositions, or whoever made those two is really bad at their job.

We might be looking at a chicken-and-egg issue here. Are AI's grown to fill specific roles, or are they grown 'blank' and assigned to or chosen for jobs that fit the personality that develops? And is that a universal rule, or variable depending on circumstances? Pintsize seems very well suited to his role, he just has some unusual Quirks. May might be bad programming, but she could just as easily have been a mistake of job placement - she's not inclined specifically towards crime, she has 'poor impulse control'. Bubbles could have either been grown specifically to inhabit a combat droid chassis with the appropriate traits, or maybe she just came out that way and was selected to be a combat AI because she fit the parameters desired for a robot soldier.

Yes. In fact, as a combat droid I would assume she's programmed to absorb massive amounts of data very quickly, process it immediately, and act within seconds. Given those parameters, reading WOULD be frivolous. An unacceptable waste of time when as an AI you can mine the Internet for information as fast as your connection allows. Indeed, anything like looking at the sky just to look at the sky or winking would ALSO be unacceptably frivolous, when she should be laser focused on the task at hand. That she does those things anyway shows she's growing beyond her programming...

If Marigold still has Momo's original chassis I wonder what transferring Bubbles into it would do to her point of view.

I know I sure wouldn't be comfortable trusting say, a death laser or a minigun to someone who is prone to flights of fancy or day-dreaming. Also if a combat A.I. shoots me I'd like it to be the best way to save the day and not something they've been fantasizing about for a while.

Pretty sure they're all blanks who pick a chassis and job after a personality develops. Wasn't that mentioned earlier? I'm sure I remember reading it somewhere in the archives.

I do seem to recall though that many of them change occupations for various reasons, and change chassis to match.

Possibly because time passes a lot more slowly in comic considering we can have entire weeks worth of comics covering a single discussion.
