I don't see why this would get much of a reaction from Coyote.

The image on the chapter page could be Coyote as he already appeared on the bottom here, but as a side view, though. That wasn't pretty.

I'm assuming you didn't mean this page; that seems uninteresting and we already saw it from a different angle here and here and here. EDIT: On second thought, based on your spoiler text, maybe that's what you did mean. We know that the flames can't actually burn physical stuff, though. Other than being cool looking, I don't know if they could do anything at all anymore, unless she somehow reattaches the fire elemental part of her.

It seems you were correct there, @Mith. Friday should prove to be really interesting.. This comic really reminded me: For all of his problems, his self-perceived weakness and Coyote's meddling, Ysengrin is still far above mortals in general; he is indeed a god. Actually, this comic made me understand him better, i think.

I would say his argument is that "you should not suffer the opinion of fools, no matter who the fool is". He is breaking the bind that Annie made because it is not healthy for her well being.

Anyways remember Jones and Kate's Mom explain how blinker stones works from a while ago... it's just a lens that helps people with ability to focus. I think Annie is/or will be strong enough to focus her powers without the stone... eveuntually.

From what Ysengrin has said, I get the impression that Annie should already be powerful enough to focus without the stone, but hasn't been doing so because she's using it as a crutch. Using it to separate her Fire Elemental side from her is sort of the ultimate representation of that.

Kicking the crutch from under Annie was kind of what I expected Ysengrin to do. I did not expect him to then feed said crutch into a wood chipper.

It's exactly what Annie needed though - a harsh kick up the backside from someone that isn't willing to pander to her self-loathing. Still, it's kind of a "kill-or-cure" business that could yet go horribly wrong.

Considering how blinker stones work, feeding it into the metaphorical wood chipper was pretty much the only way he could go about it without it just returning to Annie in the next panel or something.

Um, Rabbit Boy, it might not be wise to approach the raging fire elemental until she calms down a bit. And stops attempting to incinerate Ysengrin.

(Although this does explain why he was making strange when Annie came to him before. His memories of her from his/her jackalope days didn't match what he was seeing with human eyes, so he had no idea who this strange woman was.)
