Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
Wow…. I was at what I think was the first one, maybe I should see if I can make this one.
North, South, East or West I don't mind. What do we need from a host? Has there been an East Anglian meet up yet?

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
Datewise I can have any day off from work given a couple of weeks notice. I probably won't make it to anywhere too far from London though...

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
Long time no see Adlan! I believe you were there at the first one that LR33 ran in Leeds.
Think there's been a couple in Peterborough. For hosting, you need time, the ability to find a place for us to play games (potentially with easy access to food), and the ability to book said place. And the ability to get others to go "YES PLEASE HOST US ALL THERE"."I'm just going on motive and opportunity here and the fact that if the earth got swallowed by a black hole, I'd look suspiciously in your direction first."

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
and has peeps willing to do the legwork
Elan, I feel old now...
Devmaar, we have had several London meets including the most recent one, next winter will probably have to be in London as we should be expecting some transatlantic visitors.
So we are trying to keep away from the capital to prevent London Fatigue Syndrome. Glasgow & Aberdeen aren't too far from london (thanks to the airports) on a global scale anyway :p

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
I should probably point out that I'm not living in Aberdeen anymore
That said, if it is desired, I'm pretty sure I could find a place in Inverness without too much trouble. Prices would probably vary, but I can look into that if we do indeed decide on Inverness - we do have an airport with regularly scheduled flights to and from London!

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
I'm going to rule myself as unlikely to attend this time through- saving up towards a trip to Canada next year.

*raises hand*
Could you send some winter my way? I'm starting to believe that 22*C is cold now. And that rain is only allowed to happen at night.
Now. I'm halfway across the world. Don't make me get out my Poking Stick and start poking you all to make decisions tout de suite. It's Hallowe'en dudes. You don't even have a location yet.
So you're all going Oop Norf unless someone from Dahn Saaf offers up something in thirty-six hours.
*starts putting an extending handle on the Poking Stick*
Don't make me come over there . . . *shakes fist*

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
Hi guys!
I'm afraid I'm unlikely to make this one again. It feels like a long time since the very first meetup. Still, the good news is that if I'm not there I won't be able to inflict my current book on any of you. Be thankful for small mercies!

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
OK, so I summoned the energy to PM a bunch of people in the hopes we could get more attendees. And if we're lucky, maybe one of them might even be able to host, since we haven't progressed particularly beyond square one in that regard. It really is like herding cats.
In the circumstances, I think we'll have to be looking at a (probably late) January meetup, because I really don't think we're getting things sorted in time for anything sooner.
Come on guys. Don't force me to just declare the meetup in Newcastle again."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
I've sent an email to the place in Bournemouth I had in mind. There's a number of Premier Inns/Travelodges near by, the location in on a major bus route with a direct bus from the train station and a boardgame shop about 5 minutes walk away. Just waiting to hear if they have a function room and what kind of prices/availability they have.

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
I thought I'd posted earlier regarding my comment about hosting, cannae remember. But in any case, I've too much going on IRL to do much more than say yea or nay to whether I'm coming. Which is looking like it'll be nay, depending on how much energy I have after finishing my exams for third year, as well as working out if I'd be able to leave my work behind when I come to said meetup, rather than bringing my third year project notebook for the logics.

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
I've got too much going on at the moment to be much help with hosting (and I'm based in London in any case), but I'll try to turn up - no fixed commitments at the moment, but there's always the chance of something turning up.

Re: UKtiP XIIX: finally old enough to drink!
Seems to me that the Trogland way of doing the scheduling of the meets are looking more and more sensible.
Just pick a date, or a set weekend, then make that a static date for each year.
That way, people know well in advance if they can make it or not, and if they can't make it... well, too bad.
Also, stopping the ambulation of the meetup and just find somewhere where we can return to time after time, seems good, as it helps with organising hotel stays as we know where the hotels are in relation to the venue and how to get there.
