Ya know what? There's not enough Freya love and I was between three to start with; I'll amend mine to just Freya.

I'm sure quite a few people here would like to love Freya. But the OP was asking about worship.

Odin makes the most sense. Not only is he the all-father, and also the leader of the traditional Norse pantheon. He also seems to be the only god of the pantheon that isn't a quibbling child.

You are a lawn ornament? I'm pretty sure the rule was only for them.

Sure, as a beardmumbler who worships the goddess of death and disease it makes no difference how you die. But that is a odd reason to do so. Its like saying „If I jump into the toxic waste I don't have to walk the rope over it.” Even more so since the alternative to the toxic waste is a fancy dinner. Fancy dinners for the rest of your existence in fact.

Okay Hel and Thor are neck and neck; so we need a tie-breaker for third place.

Yeah, but my amendment refers to the deity worship. What now, Rogar?

Wouldn't Freya love necessitate it ending in kids?

Doesn't every parent think their children are demi-gods? But with Freya as the mother it would actually be true.

It gets kind of funny in such a context. does not being theistic mean you don't believe gods exist or that you don't worship any? Honestly, I don't know, but since TV-tropes has a page on flat earth atheists you might be right here.

Anyway, the question was "if you had to..." meaning no not choosing. ALL SHALL WORSHIP AND DESPAIR!

Also, I chose to interpret "had to" as "these are the choices presented to you." Not as in logical necessity.

This is a game. If the rules to a game say "you have to roll the dice", than you have to. If you don't you're not playing the game. Which is fine, you don't have to be on the list, but picking a god from this list is what the thread is about...

I agree with this. If you would choose to abstain, then why play the game?

Odin for me. He likes dogs and puppets, so he must have a bit of a sense of humor, and his response was the closest to being thoughtful and mysterious.

(Which is kind of surprising considering what a goofball he's been until now, but whatever. I'll still go for the one-eyed wanderer with his two ravens and his eight-legged steed.)

Probably Frigg. I'm communing with the gods for guidance, not flattering them for favors or inviting them to parties... unless flattery and partying turn out to be the wisest courses of action, naturally.

Odin or Hoder if I had to, I suppose, because both seem to have a bit of perspective--the ability to look beyond their whims or the narrow concerns of their portfolios, and appreciate a larger design. (I know I'm being generous, since all Odin did was say something cryptic and all Hoder did was talk about "seasons.")

Loki has a certain appeal because he's funny, but the alignment thing would be problematic for me.

Really, I'd hate to worship any of them--I'd much rather handle things like Roy.

Oh, there are other advantages. It's good in the breeder's business: Rabbits, horses, cows... She promises a bountyful harvest, too, I guess. The less farmers have to rely on good soil, the more they need Freya.

People desperate for kids are probably but a niche in Freya's portfolio.

We do not have a lot to go on, so any answer must, in part, be influence on real life myths as well. Also she seems nice and not world destroying, with a reason thats good (will not end so many lives).
