Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
I'd go for Bragi but sadly he wasn't in the voting room.
With the given choice? I'd probably go with Njord. I'm interested in seeing what's the new coastline is all about :)

Mani. I don't think he would expect much from his followers.

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
I study, and like, economics, so I would worship Freyr. With Odin or Frigg if Freyr was not possible.
I will also say that I was a bit disappointed Bragi and Idun did not make the list. Bragi would obviously be god of music, while Idun might be god of youth/aging.

Ever wondered how many games are mentioned in the comic? I have listed them all in a geeklist: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/2...es-order-stick

Sünna. Because excessive force is fun, slaying undead parasites like vampires is most certainly a good thing, and the sun is one of my favourite celestial objects.

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
Spoiler
So the song runs on, with shift and change,
Through the years that have no name,
And the late notes soar to a higher range,
But the theme is still the same.
Man's battle-cry and the guns' reply
Blend in with the old, old rhyme
That was traced in the score of the strata marks
While millenniums winked like campfire sparks
Down the winds of unguessed time. -- 4th Stanza, The Bad Lands, Badger Clark

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
Thor is the obvious choice, seeing as he's already my fultrui. I enjoy his portrayal in the order of the stick.

Tyr. It takes a special kind of badass to let your arm get chomped off by a wolf.

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
I would love to go to the beach, but the sand gets in my keyboard.
Thor has now pulled ahead of the crowd and is in a clear third place.
So now Tyr and Fenrir are neck and neck; or should that be hand and paw?Last edited by Mad Humanist; 2015-09-05 at 01:54 AM.

I wonder what the Giant himself would answer?
I am a Neutral Good Elf Druid/Wizard
: "Disintegrate. Gust of wind. Now can we please resume saving the world?"
: "Your approval fills me with shame."

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
What makes you think he would consider this a fit topic of discussion. For the health of the thread I'd like to keep the Giant out of it, and anything related to that question.
On a happier note I have been wondeing what to do if we get a partial list of demi-gods. I propose running two separate polls: the current one for gods and a new one for demi-gods. But because these are demi-gods you can split your vote into two demi-votes if you wish. Also we may never get a complete list so you can write in any divine or semi-divine figure from Norse mythology. If at some point we got evidence that a certain figure was not a demi-god votes for them would be declared invalid. You can change yor votes at any time.Last edited by Mad Humanist; 2015-09-05 at 02:41 PM.

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
I see the original question as a corollary to the inferred "if you lived in the OotS world," which would mean we're free and clear of real-world religion issues. After all, we're not discussing Norse gods; we're discussing Northern Pantheon gods, as they exist in the comic.
My interpretation may not be shared by mods, of course.
That I do agree with, since I think the most likely reason he would jump in would be to disagree with my interpretation.Last edited by Peelee; 2015-09-05 at 03:11 PM.

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
On that basis we can already begin compiling a list! (I'm actually a little surprised a thread for this hasn't already started, but I guess it would immediately be derailed by Banjo/Giggles/SSGoW claims)
Bragi and Idun have already been mentioned as missing from the current list of Norse gods.
Jormungandr? Surtur? Ymir? (Easy to see why Hel would get the advantage!)Geez, what is it with that guy and needing to figure out all the fiddly little details?
I know, right? It's called "Suspension of Disbelief"...

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
I want to wait for some hard information. Partly so it is about OOTS and not Norse mythology, and partly to see a resolution of the speculation over non-Norse demigods. If you want to vote for demi-gods now, fine, but I won't compile a list until the comic gives us a decent amount of hard data.

Re: If you had to worship one god of the Northern pantheon....
It's between Odin and Freyja for me.
Odin because of knowledge and magic, Freyja because I love cats.
I guess if worshipping Odin meant I'd get a raven familiar, or would have to lose an eye, I'd go with Freyja, because I'd want a cat familiar or animal companion - preferably a big one. A tiger like Veldrina's would be nice.
I guess I'll vote officially for Freyja in the poll, because she seems to need the votes more than Odin. If it were possible to worship more than one of them without messing up my afterlife or losing clerical powers, I'd probably revere both of them, and also pay respects to Thor, since after a few drinks, I start getting a bit more like him, in my own mind, at least.
