And before the comic started, he was a secret member of an underground organization, so there is probably nothing linking him to any other crimes he may have committed.

In the end, they didn't have much to put him away on, so whatever charges they could bring up wouldn't have had a long sentence, anyways. He was probably originally only given a few years, at best.

Yeah, I agree with you here. It would have been better if he was released after doing something to demonstrate his reformation, like helping to uncover and put a stop to this slave ring. However, Mookie is the master of C- storytelling, so it's too much to expect him to do the smarter choice.

At first it seems really coincidental, but it has a very boring explanation- Danica met Grex because she was the local expert on Void Angels who stepped forward when 'how do we defend against them?' came up. Grex got sent to Burke because she's still the local expert on Void Angels.

1 to 1 odds that she has a freak out for one panel and then spends the rest of the arc mildly upset.
