Default SWSE Placed Explosives: How do they work?

I am asking a question for a friend who runs a Star Wars Saga Edition game, and he pointed out an apparent flaw in the books:

There doesn't seem to be any rules on how placed explosives work, such as land mines and such.

Can someone help me by telling us how this works? I've tried using google-fu, but I couldn't find anything (except the equipment itself).

If you're talking about a mine that someone is going to activate, I would use them like traps... whoever places them makes a Stealth check to hide them, and that's the difficulty of the Perception check to locate them. Disarming them is 5 points higher than the Mechanics check of whoever set them... as a Mechanic, you choose your DC, and if you make it, the DC to disarm is 5 points higher.

Now, if you're talking about the rule "Place Explosive Device", that's just using your Mechanics skill to improve the damage you get from explosives. So, if I'm setting an explosive that does 2d6 damage against a wall with a DR of 10. If I roll under a 15, then I do 2d6 damage to the wall, but it gets 10 DR. If I made a 15, I will do 2d6 damage to the wall, ignoring the DR. If I make a 25, I do double damage AND ignore the DR... effectively 4d6+10 damage to the wall.

For mines, the Rules say they are +5 harder to detect than other objects of their size, so a mine the size of a grenade=tiny weapon=fine size.
For the perception check its dc 25 to detect a fine object. which means the DC would be 30 (or more, depending on cover/concealment).

That DC is a bit high, so going with what Mark Hall suggested might be a better idea.

I would let the mine (automaticaly) hit the creature that stepped on it, but require an attack roll against everybody else in range (I would go with either +5,+10 or depending on the character that planted the mines, but the books don't help much).

I would give the mine a Reflex save value, perhaps with a penalty for whoever stepped on it, and a bonus the further away one went.
