[FS2] You All Meet In A Nightclub...
The atmosphere in Drop is more relaxed on Thursday than it is most nights of the week. There's still a good crowd out on the dance floor, but most of the regulars have filled into the booths and tables lining the side walls, just looking to relax, and drink, and listen to the music. Even on a night like this there's a real energy in the club, reverberating off the mirrored walls, a current that feels larger than Drop's small basement space.
Jung Wei has yet to show, but Jackson Lau is on hand, ensconced within the VIP section as usual, and the bartender has assured Tommy he'll tell him everything he knows about Jingfei just as soon as business slows down enough to give him a chance to talk.
After a little while, those watching Lau see him take a phone call. He doesn't look too happy with what he hears, but he doesn't argue, he just waves over the VIP section bouncer and whispers a few words to him. The bouncer nods and heads straight out an employees only exit. Almost immediately, the rest of the club's security staff disappears.
No sooner has the last guard ducked out of sight than the body of a woman comes flying through Drop's curtained entryway, landing with a crash at the foot of the bar. Her lab coat is torn and bloodied, and she's barely moving. Red Tooth Lam, an Eight Petals Red Pole and a martial artist of some note, swaggers into the club behind her, picking dried blood out from under his sharpened fingernails. At his side is a man Jung Xiao recognizes: Lee Ching-Wan is in plain clothes tonight, but he's supposed to be a police officer, and he's got no business being anywhere near an undercover operation. Flanking Lam and Lee are two men Tommy knows all too well... Lightning Chen and Thunder Wong were the two enforcers who came asking after his latest gambling debts, threatening to introduce his kneecaps to Thunder's crowbar. A mob of street thugs, around twenty or so in all, files in behind them, brandishing an unfriendly-looking mix of knives, pistols, and Mini-Uzis. Jackson Lau stands from his table.

Ying stands there on the dance floor, the smooth unending beat of the night brought to a halt by this strange confrontation. Inwardly, she sighed; for the first time in a few days she'd managed to find a little peace on the dance-floor, calming herself down before the meeting with Lau. And now, the Eight Petals have decided to bring some kind of brawl to Drop. A very one sided brawl, judging by the number of thugs that were filing slowly through behind that red pole. Trixie's eyes linger on the woman in the labcoat for a few seconds: no visible armament, no signs of injury to Lam or his men, nothing. This was a debtor or something that Jackson had decided to make an example of. Right there, in the middle of the club. Trixie glances across towards the VIP booth, taking in the White Paper Fan as he rose to his feet.
No. Not right now. I don't care what you know, this is not worth it.
With a rather pointed grin, the red-eyed assassin begins to dance across the now thinning club floor: eyes closed, head bobbing and hands twirling around each other. She's moving in time with the beat, seemingly not paying attention to the growing Eight Petals mob, or the panicking murmurs of civilians but somehow the oblivious dancer is making her way towards the bar, coat-tails flicking behind her as she twists through the remaining crowd.

Tommy was nursing his mojito morosely, looking up to check whether the bartender was free yet every other second, when the commotion started. The woman in the lab coat landed just a few feet from where he was sitting at the bar, startling him from his half-drunk stupor. He turned to look at her, noting how badly hurt she seemed and then up at the men entering the club.
His eyes narrowed when he recognized Chen and Wong. The man they were with was someone he knew by reputation too. Triad business. His lips curled in disgust. It was Triad business that had taken Jingfei from him. Whatever this was...he was not about to run away from it. Not when he might learn something from the bartender about his wife and not when a defenseless woman seemed about to be beaten down by a gang of thugs.
Tommy tossed back his cocktail and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. He pushed off of the bar stool and on to his feet, slowly and deliberately, not moving away from the growing mob as the other patrons were. Slowly, he pushed his hand into his coat, his fingers wrapping around his Beretta.

Dan had plunked himself down at a spot in the bar carefully chosen to maximize his line of sight to the VIP area and minimize the chance that he himself would be noticed. Not that he didn't stick out like a sore thumb in a place like this. He barely passed muster to be let into this place with the slacks and leather jacket he was wearing, and if he didn't look like a cop he was easily pegged as someone here for business instead of pleasure. He was contemplating exactly how he was going to get to Lau over a Jack and Coke when he sees all the security make themselves scarce. Could it be too much to hope that this is his chance to make his move?
Yes. Yes it is. The sight of the unarmed and apparently defenseless woman crashing into the bar set his blood alight with fury. It was all he could do to not pull his own gun and order the thugs at the door to drop their weapons, but the HKPD and their watchdog had made it clear that he wasn't going to get any backing from them without hard evidence. So, instead of grabbing the now undefended Lau, or getting the drop on a pack of punks, he was left with only one option: the woman. Lau could almost certainly wait, but she looked like she wasn't going to make it through the night if nobody helped her, and without the ability to take these punks in he did the only other thing he could think of. He slid off of his seat at the bar and moved to kneel down by the woman, trying to remember his first aid training and see how badly she was hurt.
"Miss, are you all right? " he asked her, trying to appear to take no notice of the thugs menacing her. When in doubt, play dumb.

To be perfectly honest, Mark hadn't really been sure how he was going to return that bracelet. Well, it also seemed like a watch, but it wasn't a working watch by the looks of things, so very fancy bracelet it was. Not that Mark understood jewelry. Just that some things looked nice, and this one did. How she didn't notice was beyond Mark. Maybe it was the rest of her fancy stuff. He didn't really know. Just that he was going to return it to her. And strike up a conversation. Something over candle-light or something. With violins playing in the background. Or something. Man, this was harder than he remembered. It would be so much easier if he at least knew her name!
So far, Mark'd just been following her around, trying to find the best time to return it to her. For some reason, he couldn't get her out of his head after they bumped into each other on the train. It wasn't often that a girl left him at a loss for words. But something about her just... Mark couldn't describe it. But he noticed she'd dropped her bracelet, and knew he by hell he was going to return it to her. And maybe get a date. And who knows what'd happen after that! Good things, Mark hoped. Which was why he was on the dance floor, trying his best to be a decent dancer in a nightclub in Hong Kong. Which wasn't actually half bad. To be honest, Mark was a little hesitant to try Uncles "moves". He didn't want to show off right now, and the music was all wrong. So... he kinda just danced like a normal person. Not too bad, but not too good either. Just trying to find the right moment to walk up to her and say "hi again". Seriously, why was this so hard? It wasn't like he hadn't tried pick up lines before.
And then a woman gets thrown through the curtain at the entrance, and a bunch of thugs walked in. Mark swung his head to see the hooligans just piling in. Great. Just great. Hong Kong gangsters. Just like back in SanFran, huh? And then he saw the guns. Well, hell. The gangers back in the states didn't walk around with that much heat. Jesus, was that an Uzi? Mark'd only seen those in movies! What the hell did he do now? On the one hand, he couldn't bear to see a woman being mistreated like that - the bastards! Mark knew he could teach those punks a lesson. Sure, if Uncle were here, Mark'd get a flick to the forehead for forgetting about all those guns. Other people could get hurt! Like the girl from the train...
Hey, where was she? There she was, moving through the crowd. Damn, he had been sure to keep a slight amount of distance between them on the dance floor - to be casual and stuff - but now how could he keep her safe from those guns? Swearing under his breath, Mark grit his teeth, fists clenched at his sides as he moved through the crowd on the dance floor after her. Once he was sure she was safe... those gangers were going to be on the receiving end of an opened can of whup-ass!

Dan glances from the woman to her bag, and then back to the woman with a puzzled look on his face. He had no idea what she could possibly have in that bag that was going to help her with the Triad thugs filling up the place unless she happened to be stashing a high caliber firearm in there. Of she did, all the better for when Dan would inevitably need to draw down on these punks. So he grabbed the handbag and said "I'll get that for you." before pulling the bag open to take a look inside.

The woman's handbag is filled to bursting with an odd mix of modern scientific supplies and the kind of stuff sold by the most old-fashioned vendors of "traditional" medicine. Stoppered test tubes, bottles of chemicals, packets of dried herbs, a small precision scale, bits and pieces (some dried, some floating in liquid) of what were probably once an exotic array of animals, a bunsen burner, a couple prescription bottles filled with empty two-piece capsules... the list goes on, adding up to a veritable pharmacy in a bag.
"Thank... you," she says, leveraging herself up onto an elbow with a wince, "If you'd please just hand that here..."
A cigarette-flavored voice interjects, "I heartily encourage you to step away from that lady."
It's Lee Ching-Wan, the cop. He's trying to play it cool, but there's a hint of nerves in that voice. He steps forward, a pair of handcuffs dangling from one hand... and a snubnose revolver waiting in the other, ready to answer any sign of resistance.
"She may not look it, but she's a dangerous fugitive."
He inclines his head, indicating the gang of triad ruffians gathered 'round him.
"If it weren't for the generous assistance of these civic-minded gentlemen, I wouldn't have had a hope of apprehending her."
Spoiler: OOCMark's up next, then Lee will actually do something, rather than just mouthing off. I'll let Dan hand off the bag as a 0-shot action, so it won't stop him from doing something else on the same shot, but he'll still have to wait til Shot 10 to do it... unless somebody stunts a transfer from his hands to the woman's before then.Current Games:

The plainclothes policeman hauls the wounded woman to her feet, heedless of her pained groaning, and none-too-gently leans her up against the bar. He's trying to get her into those handcuffs, and she doesn't have the strength to fight him, but she is squirming enough that he needs both hands... that gun is off her, and he could be taken down without risking him taking her with him.

Okay, that was it. He glanced over to see that the woman from the train was close to the bar where the "cop" had just shoved the lady, but still safe within the crowd. Good. Mark didn't want her in harm's way. And whoever this jerk was, Mark was certain he was really who he said he was. Cops didn't wave guns around and hang with obvious gangsters. What were they called here again... yakuza? No, wait, that was Japan. Right, China had triads. Man, there were just way too many different ways for scumbags to be scumbags around the world, weren't there?
Nevertheless, the young man was incensed, and he really didn't care for the "officer's" tone. Besides, didn't cops have to read a person their Miranda rights or something? Or was that just in the US. Mark didn't know if Hong Kong cops had their own version of Miranda rights, but they certainly didn't hang around with obvious gangsters to do their arresting. So obviously, this guy wasn't a cop. Which meant that this woman was being beaten and handcuffed against her will, and nobody was doing jack! Well, Mark Shao wasn't going to put up with it!
"Hey, buddy, that isn't how you treat a lady." Mark spoke up, stepping over to the man with the handcuffs as he had the woman in the white coat up against the bar. Laying a firm hand on the man's shoulder, and another on his arm, Mark shoved the man off her, trying to push him away from the lady, foot subtly placed so the cop would stumble back and away, hand firmly. "At least buy her dinner, first. Or get her flowers." he said with a cocky grin.

Lee stumbles back from the bar, shoulder aching even from Mark's simple shove. His eyes widen as he realizes what power the young man must possess.
"Th-that's no way to treat an officer of the law!" he stammers, then seems to regain some of his composure as he turns to Red Tooth Lam. "Why don't you teach this kid some manners, Red Tooth? Make it a lesson he won't forget."
The burly martial artist steps forward, cracking his knuckles in anticipation.
"You're gonna regret that, kid," he assures Mark, then adds, with a smile, "But I won't."
His grin is equally mirthful and predatory. His dark eyes glitter in the club's multicolored light.
The clubgoers' stunned silence breaks. Restless murmurs wash through the crowd in waves, rising here and there into the first notes of panic. The mood shift reaches the DJ booth, and the tempo of the music escalates. The bartender, nearly the last symbol of authority on hand with club security gone, disappears beneath the bar. Drop stands poised on the brink of chaos.
You won't be talking it down from this ledge.

A white man who'd been sitting closer to the end of the bar dropped down to his feet in a show of concern for the injured woman. Tommy glanced down, just to make sure the woman was still alive and then back up again at the massed thugs once it was apparent she was and that the man was helping her. His eyes lingered on Chen and Wong. Last time hadn't been the first time they'd threatened him; not by far. With Jinfeng gone...maybe it was time to cut the cords for good.
He was momentarily startled when one of the men came forward, declaring himself to be a cop. Accompanied by a bunch of Triad goons? A dirty cop, if true. Tommy stepped forward, face darkening as the cop began to manhandle the injured woman. But before he could act, a kid stepped in, bodily pushing the cop away.
Calling on Red Tooth Lam for support. Not just a dirty cop, but a cowardly one too. Tommy glanced back to see the bartender hide under the bar. Good. Be safe. I still need to talk to you. He thought. The music rose up, as if in anticipating the violence about to take place. He smiled.
Tommy pulled his Beretta out of his coat, taking the few steps forward to stand beside the kid (Mark). "Lots of Good Samaritans here today." He said nonchalantly, glancing at the kid. "Guess I should join the party."
Tommy Cheung lifted his gun in one smooth motion and pointed it at Red Tooth Lam. "Chen. Wong." He called out, eyes fixed on Lam. "I'm reneging on my debts." He said calmly and pulled the trigger.
With a cracking noise, the bullet sped towards the Triad martial artist.

As soon as Tommy draws his gun, Lam's eyes lock on his trigger finger, and the stance of his body shifts, tension building like a coiled spring. As the gambler fires, he leaps aside, far swifter than one would expect from a man his size. The bullet ruffles the unruly mane of his hair before punching a neat hole into the plastered ceiling.
With an animalistic grunt, Lam leaps again, lunging forward, muscles rippling with power as he delivers a rending blow to... the thin air where Mark used to be. He swipes at the lithe young martial artist again, but he's just too slow; Mark dances away from each strike, leaving Lam's hands whistling through the breeze.
His eyes flash, and a guttural growl rumbles deep in his throat as he backs a half-step away, letting up on the futile onslaught. Pure anger has replaced his sadistic glee.
"All gonna pay," he swears under his breath.

As the Eight Petals thugs started to move forward in support of their leaders, two more shots rung out above them, the bullets whistling through the air before impacting on the wall with a dull thunk. The woman in the coat who'd been dancing towards the bar was now facing them, a pair of pistols resting in her hands. Her fellow dances take a step back from the strange assailant, as do the assembled footsoldiers.
The gunwoman barely seems to be paying any attention to them, however. Her eyes are half-closed, and she still seems more focused on the music than the growing confrontation, Grinning to herself, she twists to the side, nodding in the general direction of Jackson Lau before continuing her dance, stepping from side to side, bobbing her head and twirling her hands. Only this time she is juggling the two pistols between her hands, and both are lingering over the assembled Eight Petals goons. Seeing Lee go flying into the bar thanks to Mark's hard shove, he looked up and said "Thanks kid." to the empty air, the young martial artist already having danced away from Red Tooth Lam's assault. When bullets started to fly through the air Dan decided the time for pleasantries was over and shoved the bag into the woman's waiting arms without another thought. "Here you go. Keep low and head for the back exit." he said as he let go of the bag and reached into his coat to pull out trusty Sig.
Rising into a proper aiming stance he trained his gun on Lee. "A word of advice. Next time you want to arrest somebody, try doing it with other cops instead of a pack of lowlifes." he said, lower the barrel of his gun and taking a couple shots a Lee's legs.

Officer Lee stumbles backward again with a pained shout, a hand going to his thigh... dumb shock spreads across his face as his palm comes away coated in his own bright red blood. He raises his revolver in one trembling hand; his answering shots are wild, streaking past Dan to terrorize the crowd. Someone in the VIP goes down with a grazed shoulder, and screams rise above the pulse of the music.
While Lee panics, Thunder Wong remains an image of calmly considered contempt.
"Boss ain't gonna let you walk out on your debts, Tommy," he growls, closing the distance between himself and the gambler. As he readies his signature crowbar to swing, he chuckles and amends his statement, "You ain't gonna be doing any walking at all."
The shaft of steel swings in low and fast, too fast to easily evade, threatening to sweep Tommy's legs out from under him. On the ground, little would protect him from a merciless, bone-shattering beating.
Spoiler: OOCDodging isn't going to save Tommy from this one, but Stack The Odds could. I would honestly recommend using it, because he's going to take a nasty hit if he doesn't.

The panic and screams across the dance floor flow past the sleepy looking gun-woman. Even if the speakers stopped playing now, she would likely still be wrapped up in the beat. Her eyes no longer waver from the assembled thugs, even as her head bounces to and fro and her twin pistols twirl through the air. She barely seems to be paying attention to any particular member of the Eight Petals' troupe, as though she'd forgotten this was a battle entirely, smiling serenely to herself and shifting from one stance to the next.
But then another report rings out above the beat. The former assassin's eyes open fully now, as she takes in the men she hit. Two are already on the floor, gritting their teeth and trying to pull themselves towards discarded weapons, even as their consciousness begins to slip away. One is laying against the wall, gun discarded, more focused on trying to fashion his dirty red shirt into a makeshift sling. The last is still standing, a smug grin on his face. The man has his Uzi trained on the dancing Ying, but as he takes a step forward, he falls into a screaming pile of pain and blood as his leg gives way.
Four men with two bullets. Not bad, even for Tsang Ying.

The flashing fist of Red Tooth Lam whistled through the air. But Mark wasn't there to receive it. To Lam's surprise, the young man was but a little bit off - his aim had been horribly bad, and his strike had only hit the air beside Mark's shoulder. Mark smiled a little smile. A smirk, to be more precise, and that was what Mark was, wasting little movement as the older man swung quickly and furiously at Mark as Mark dodged, evaded, and parried each and every punch. Well that was until Mark instinctively ducked the moment the bullets started flying.
Letting out a low yelp, he turned to find himself unable to see further than a few feet in front of him as the entire club was suddenly in motion. People were running for the doors, and bullets screamed every which way, each one accompanied by an deafening clap of sound. Lower to the ground, Mark tried his best to look about him to find the girl from the train. But with all those people... he couldn't quite make her out. She was probably in that crowd of rushing people heading towards the exit, but he couldn't see her from where he was.
"Come on!" Mark complained mostly to himself. Now that was going to be a problem. How was he going to find her now?
Oh, and then there was the kick coming towards his face now. Rolling back and out of the way, Mark planted his hands like a trained acrobat and leaped into a kip- up, a wild kick thrown at the triad ruffian to keep him off guard while Mark found the footing needed to launch into a blinding flurry of motion, hands moving quickly as lightning to slip past Red Tooth Lam's guard to lay a rapid fire barrage of light strikes to build up motion towards a final hard strike right to the solar plexus.
Lam's face was contorted in a grimace of rage as he lay in with flashing fists and low kicks, but the criminal's grasping hands were easily turned aside by Mark's own deflecting talons. Simple steps bringing Lam into the proper zone as Mark whirled his arms and twisted Red Tooth Lam's arms out of the way, exposing his chest to attack. Lam's eyes went wide as Mark's fist rushed in like a torpedo to impact with a mighty blow to his chest. The Eight Petals Red Pole shut his eyes tightly and grit his teeth, waiting for the big blow to strike.
It never did.
Surprised, Lam opened his eyes and looked down at his chest. The young martial artist's fist has stopped mere centimeters away from his shirt. Looking up Lam grinned, believing the young man had overjudged his distance. Mark merely smiled back. Extending his other arm back, then bringing close to hand, Mark focused his breath, and realized his own inner strength, channeling the breath into power. His body pulsed in that instant, a rush of inner energies surging through his form as the young man merely twitched. A twitch was all it took, and Mark's knuckled fist touched Red Tooth Lam.
There was an explosion from the center of the bar unlike anything any of the clubgoers had ever seen before. Flung free as if caught in the blast of a bomb made of air, Lam shot backwards, feet having left the ground as his body flew backwards across the entire length of the nightclub. From the bar to the wall, Lam's body shot like a rag doll on a rocket, crashing through strewn chairs and over a table before smashing into the wall. A massive cloud of dust and debris shattered from where the man impacted the wall, spreading into the face of all the triad goons nearby. When the dust settled, all could see Red Tooth Lam's body half visible through the shattered drywall, flecks of paint and plasterboard still falling off as the man groaned in pain from the strike.
All eyes in the club were then turned upon the young man by the bar, who was still in his low horse stance, fist extended. In the background, the record scratched, and the music paused. Some might have sworn they saw light smoke come off the man's fist, the force of his one-inch blow had been so great. And then, after that moment, Mark straightened up for a moment, standing tall as there broke a lull in the gunfire.
"There, I paid." the young man smirked, a hand quickly reaching into his pocket. Something silver flashed through the air as it was flicked over where Red Tooth Lam lay in the shattered drywall, where it spun on the ground before settling. A small, 50 cent coin. Then in his best Clint-like deadpan, he snarled, "Keep the change."
Then Mark settled back into a more martial-ready posture, eyes glancing all about him, bobbing slightly as he lightly bounced on his feet like a boxer ready for another round. Then the fight resumed in earnest.
Spoiler: OOCAttacking Red Tooth Lam with Martial Arts in a more normal fashion: "Fist? Meet Bad-Guy. Bad-Guy? Meet Fist."

Edit: the exploding positive die was re-rolled in the OOC thread for an additional 3 to the Swerve. Total Swerve is thus 6 + 6 + 3 - 5 = 10. Total Action Result = 25. Outcome is thus 12, for a Smackdown of 21. So, I spend 1 Fortune point to use Stack the Odds against Thunder. This should allow Tommy to avoid his attack.

This should allow him to hit Thunder Wong back, if I understand correctly.

Tommy bit out a curse as his shot missed Lam - or rather, the man somehow dodged his bullet - but he didn't have the opportunity to linger on it. All hell broke loose immediately after, with the young man who had stepped in to push Lau going toe-to-toe with Red Tooth Lam and with Thunder Wong making a beeline for Tommy. Someone was shooting from behind him, attacking the mooks, making an impressive mess of it. In short, it was pandemonium.
Tommy grit his teeth as Wong came right at him. Beyond the enforcer, he could see Lam fighting the young man and it was an impressive sight. The speed and grace with which the boy fought was terrifying. Who was he?! But that was something he would have the opportunity to find out only if he survived Wong.
That crowbar of Thunder's -one he had known intimately before - came sweeping low and fast. There was no time to dodge. If it hit, it would break bone. Tommy acted on instinct, trusting to his luck. He pulled on one of the bar stools beside him, the one that he had been sitting on moments before, and pivoted around it in one smooth motion, just in time to have that crowbar crack against the wooden legs.
There was no time to waste; he couldn't lose this chance. Pressing his weight on the tool top with both his hands, Tommy rotated on it, lifting his legs together. Like a spinning pendulum, he swung up and smashed both feet into Wong's face, fast and hard.

Thunder Wong stumbles back, nose bloodied, maybe broken, but as Lightning Chen steps past him, he's still grinning. The wiry enforcer nimbly twirls a butterfly knife between his hands, showing off for the (screaming, fleeing) crowd.
"So, Tommy, you and your little friends can fight, sure. But you're lousy with numbers. There's waaaay more of us than there are of you."
He lunges with his blade, jabbing straight for the gambler's chest.
"I don't think you brought enough bullets!"
Red Tooth Lam pulls himself out of the crater his body left in the wall, battered, bloodied, but still unbroken. With a snarl, he tears off what's left of his shirt and launches back into the fray, bounding toward Mark. His mounting anger is doing nothing to improve his form, though; he's still moving much too slow to catch the nimble martial artist.
Jackson Lau was already unhappy when the fight first made its way into Drop, and as the chaos has unfolded, his unhappiness has only deepened. With a scowl, without a word, he straightens the lapels of his suit, swivels neatly on the heel of his patent leather shoes, and proceeds toward the same exit the VIP bouncer disappeared through.
Jackson Lau is leaving the building.
Spoiler: OOCLau is Cheesing It. Any one of you can take a standard action to make a Speed Check against Difficulty 6 to stop him, but if that one check fails... or if no one attempts it... he gets away.

Jackson's escape seems unbarred, most combatants occupied dealing with their Eight Petals counterparts and the club's patrons shrinking away towards the walls. Before anyone else could persue him however, there is a whirl of coat-tails and fabric as the strange woman from the dance floor vaults above the battlefield, falling into a rapid shoulder-roll across Drop's now vacant floor. Within a second, the fast moving assassin is on her feet again and leaning beside the VIP door, with her two mismatched guns trained on Jackson. She shook her head in the Straw Sandal's direction, a smug smirk on her face.
"Mr Lau. I thought we had an appointment."

Dan had lost track of Lau in all of the excitement, he was too busy worrying about his own hide and the woman. He looked back at her and saw that she hadn’t moved and was still rummaging around in all the weird stuff in her purse. “Hey lady. I don’t mean to be rude or anything but I’m sure whatever’s in there can wait until after you’ve gotten out of here.” He said before popping up to fire a few shots back at Lee. Dan’s shots flew almost as wide as his opponents and he ducked back down and kept talking, “So why don’t you get moving?” he asked.
He popped back up to look for Lau, firing a few more shots to keep Lee’s head down. He caught sight of him at gunpoint, apparently heading for the back exit but cut off by some woman packing serious heat. That was good and bad, and Dan needed to get over there to make sure his snitch-to-be didn’t bleed to much before he talked. Turning back to the woman a third time he said, “Follow me.” He said and started to make his way towards Lau, moving from cover to cover.

And I have, after some fails. Astute readers will notice that with my exploding negative I have a mighty 2 as my swerve, so I shoot a lot and hit nothing just like in the movies.

His feet smashed into Wong's face with a satisfying crunch, but Tommy didn't have time to celebrate. As soon as he landed, he saw Lightning Chen making straight for him. Tommy grit his teeth as the knife flashed towards him. Thinking on his feet, he pulled the bar stool up, hoping to use that as a makeshift shield against the knife hit.

"Ah... just... just a moment," the woman in the lab coat assures Dan, "I'll be right behind you"
That's all he hears before he loses sight of her, but he can't help but notice that her voice seemed stronger on those last words than it has been in any of his (admittedly brief) conversation with her. He doesn't have time to dwell on that, though, he has... more pressing concerns.
"Ohhh, stop him!" Officer Lee snaps, pointing out the Westerner, and wild gunfire rings out above Dan's head even as a trio of cleaver-swinging thugs appear in his path. He dodges the first two knife-strokes, but the third catches him, and he barely has time to register that he's been stabbed before the world spins violently around him, and he finds himself staring at the ceiling. Thunder Wong has caught up with him, and it's going to be a while before he can walk without hurting.
The Triad footsoldiers are everywhere now, and pandemonium reigns as wild bullets scythe through the crowd. Bottles burst like liquid fireworks over the bar behind Tommy, and gunfire shatters the wall mirrors beside Ying, showering the floor in broken glass. Officer Lee himself joins a pair of shooters trying to pin down Mark Shao, but the nimble martial artist proves as hard to catch with bullets as with fists and knives.
"Trixie Tsang," Jackson Lau greets her, his voice calm despite the chaos, and despite his lingering frown. "Surely it can't be good for the public image of a woman of your standing to be seen with the kind of people in whose company you've been seen lately... much less in a public nightclub with smoking guns in your hands."
His concern sounds very nearly genuine.
Spoiler: OOCDan got hit twice there. Once by a mook, for... 2 wound points, but what's really going to hurt is that hit from Thunder Wong, which hit for... 10 wound points. The wound points aren't the worst of it, though. Given that Outcome... Thunder Wong's Kneecapper foe schtick is going to drop Dan's Speed by 3 for the rest of the fight, which will slow him down to Speed 4. Oof.

A look of incredulousness crossed the young martial artist's face as the Triad thug managed to pull himself up from that resounding crash. This guy was insane! The smart thing to do was to just lie in the rubble and pretend to be out of it! But no, this guy just came right back, ready for round two! Didn't really do much for his reflexes, though.
"Really? Back for seconds? Geez, what a masochist." Mark said, partially in disbelief, and partially in jest, not really sure how someone would willingly come back for more punishment. Then again, the guy had some degree of skill. Just wasn't very good at using it, now was he?
Wait a second. He'd almost forgotten about all those idiots with the guns! Eep! Hop, hop, hop! Mark grit his teeth as he ducked and weaved, twisting his body out of lines of fire as Triad gangsters shot bullets everywhere. Ducking one spray of gunfire, Mark yelped as two blades sliced down at him. Spinning horizontally in a mid-air roll, Mark avoided the cleavers as he found his feet once more and launched back into action.
Clearly, this now-shirtless Triad gangster wasn't going to let bygones be bygones, so Mark clearly couldn't run away from this fight to go after the Girl From The Train. Which was really worrisome because Shao Zhen really didn't want to lose track of her. He'd been kinda stalking her for a while, and it'd be so much harder for him to do that if he let her get the sleep. But from the looks of this guy's eyes, Mark would have to fight this guy or be chased by the lunatic Triad-leader.
So, Mark had to knock him flat again. Parrying the maddened gangster's fists, the young martial artist allowed himself the fighting retreat for enough space to make a leap amidst the chaotic fight. In that instant, he miraculously avoided the hail of gunfire aimed everywhere throughout the nightclub, whirling in mid-air to make a spinning blast of a kick to the shirtless man's abdomen, crying out, "No shirt, no style - no service!"
Spoiler: OOCOkay, so Red Tooth Lam ain't gonna leave Mark alone until one of them is crying "Uncle"... So Mark's gonna have to make him really want his uncle. Attacking RT Lam...

Mark's foot lands squarely and firmly in the center of Red Tooth Lam's chest, forcing the breath out of the big man's lungs, but as it lands, Lam's hands close around his leg. The Triad bruiser heaves and swings the lighter martial artist, throwing him bodily into a nearby table, knocking it winding and sending a forgotten round of drinks crashing to the floor.
Standing over Mark, Lam bares his teeth. It can't properly be called a smile.
"No more running."
Meanwhile, Lightning Chen steps back, leaving his butterfly knife embedded in the bar stool Tommy blocked with. He half-bows to the gambler, as if acknowledging a worthy opponent... but as his back straightens again, it becomes clear that the motion was just a cover for his reach for a new weapon. He now holds a matte-black Glock, its efficient killing power a far cry from his knife's theatrical flourish.
"Okay, playtime's over."
Spoiler: OOCLam hits Mark with a Smackdown of 14; should be 6 wound points.Only 3, with the upcoming Dodge.
Switching from a melee weapon to a gun costs the number of shots it takes to reload that gun; 1 in an autoloader pistol's case, so Chen will act again at the end of next shot.

"Oh, crap!" Mark exclaimed as the triad's bruiser and trained martial artist managed to bait him so easily. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Mark could hear Uncle's voice now. He winced at the sound of that sigh of disapproval that Uncle made as it sounded in his head. "Aiyah! Don't make careless mistakes!" It was like he was right there, with Mark in the chaos of the nightclub, amidst the shouts and gunfire.
As the Triad gangster tossed Mark with obvious strength, Mark managed to gather his wits about him, noticing immediately that he was heading right for a table. That would leave a mark, and the young martial artist certainly wished to avoid that. Curling at the last second he hit the ground before he slammed into the table, rolling across the ground into a three-point stance like a judoka coming out of a fancy ukemi. Having transfered the brunt of the kinetic energy from being taught to fly for a moment into the ground out of the roll, Mark knew that his training had just saved his life from having his head crack on the table. Which was all well and good, but it certainly didn't stop Mark's arms from feeling sore as hell from having to take the brunt of the fall, and the young man could still feel the ropeburn-like twist on the calf of the leg he had used to kick the triad fighter.
And there were bullets still whizzing all around him. Muttering to himself, Mark grimaced, ducking some more gunfire. "Dai pinchu..."

Tommy hissed as the knife sheared across a couple of his fingers, though the stool did the job and kept it from plunging in to his heart. Though his hand was now bleeding, he clutched the stool tight in that hand, while his other gripped his Beretta. His jaw tightened when Chen pulled out a gun of his own and he lifted his gun to point at the Triad enforcer.
"Just like in those Old West movies, huh?" He quipped, but he couldn't deny his fear. He didn't care to die before he found out what had happened to his wife. He didn't wait. Trusting to his aim, he pulled the trigger.

Lightning Chen's shoulder jerks with the impact of Tommy's bullet, and his return fire goes wide, painting a new line of bullet holes across the club's increasingly damaged ceiling. Chen remains remarkably steady on his feet, though, despite having been shot, despite the bullet in his arm and the fresh blood staining his sleeve.
"You still don't have enough bullets," he repeats, almost like chanting a mantra, "Still don't have enough men. This isn't a fight you can win."
Meanwhile, Jackson Lau takes a single precise step to the side of the employees only exit, and then his entire demeanor changes in an instant. His poise is wiped away, replaced by shock and hysterical fear. He raises a trembling hand to point at Trixie, and shouts to the crowd in a loud and clear (though panicked) voice, "Look! She's blocking the exit! We can't get out!"
The crowd's focus shifts on the word "exit," and in that moment a subtle sign from Lau cues up another round of inaccurate uzi fire behind them. The crowd surges forward, toward the door, toward Trixie, in a panicked stampede... and then quails at the sight of her own weapons. Their charge is checked, the force of the human wave dissipated just short of its goal.
"She's got guns! Somebody stop her!" Lau theatrically wails, trying to regain control of the crowd, but the deadly aura Ying exudes is too great. No one steps up to play the hero, not in the presence of a trained killer.
Lau sighs in frustration and lets his affected character fall off him. On to plan C...
