    Losing is also part of the fun. And if you are playing this game with virtually no security for your nation, that is a very bold a risky move. You wouldn't play that way in a single player game. So sneak attacks I say are definitely allowed in this game, but they come with the diplomatic situations involved. I say, lets make this like the single player, and make it that anyone who sneak attacks another player that all civilizations that have met both parties involved know of the sneak attack style from the perpetrator and then it's up to the players of the other civilizations to decide how to act on that knowledge and decide whether they should take the one who sneak attacked on the words later in the game. And for anyone who has no knowledge of one of the nations at war, then even if you find out that there is a war going on instigated by a sneak attack, you are to disregard and not use that knowledge to any of your decision making. However, others can warn you of another's previous actions. But then again, that person could also be lying and spreading false stories. You never know how this game or the players will act.

    River valley, not much I can see yet. Hard to tell where exactly I might be on the pseudo-europa map.

    One very key thing that's missing from my immediate location is any herdable resources. Not having anything to pasture early will mean I can't use my juicy +1 production for pastures. Considering how big this map is I won't be able to be as raze-happy as you usually have to be with the Huns, so I need to use my other bonuses as much as I can.

    Here's how the world looks to Carthage

    Seems like a North African start, which is good as far as getting use out of the harbours works.
    As to the location itself it's okay. Quite heavy on gold income, rather than food, but that's workable. The Marble may be quite significant, especially given the inevitable wonder races.

    Of course, I could turn out to be bordering a land-locked body of water, in which case things will not be going so well.

    Anyhow, now time to figure out a character I can get into, and decide on another fictional religion to adopt should I manage to snag Desert Folklore (I am open to suggestions).

    Is there some secret to taking a screen shot? I would like to start uploading for spectators, but all I get is a black screen when I screen shot and windowed mode doesn't seem to help.

    +1 to no advance warning for war. If you are worried about a sneak attack, there are ways to work around that.

    Depends on what you're playing Civ5 through. Steam has a natural screenshot function (I think it's F12, but it doesn't work for me, so chime in if I'm wrong) that a lot of people use (since it both takes the screenshot and lets you link to it). I use the MacOS screenshot function and host elsewhere, I'm sure Windows has a natural screenshot function as well.

    Yeah, steam acts weird with my civilization 5. It acknowledges I'm playing it, but I can't Shift*Tab or screen shot while playing civilization 5. SO I can't screen shot it that way.

    Chieftain Siam here. With the first story of how are Empire became great.



    It started in the Northern reaches. Our people tired of nomadic life, eventually settled a city. The city planted on a hill, outside fields of untamed cotton, and unmined stone, would soon be an envy of the world.



    We find a ruin. Even though we cannot reach it, we see a label called GMR 3?



    Our people our working on an item to help collect smaller items.



    Our capital starts work on recruiting men and women to form a band that will explore the nearby lands.



    The people have been talking about organization, about trying to build a body of .... government. To become more then a chieftain and followers. So that everyone knows their place.



    The prophet say we are best in Manufactured goods. but tied for worst in GNP!

    If I could suggest something. Given that we are quickly approaching Thanksgiving, perhaps we should disable the kick feature? Because I imagine it'll be hard this coming weekend holiday for a number of us to tear away from our families.

    Find on disk, upload to photobucket, take it from there.

    Most of us upload our screenshots to Photobucket, Imgur or some other image hosting site, I believe, and then link to those. If you're hosting them via Steam instead I don't know how that works, sorry.

    I believe you need to make them public, if you want to link them directly from your Steam profile.

    We ran into La Venta last turn and they gave us a bunch of faith. And this turn we're the first to establish our pantheon. Given I have 2 stone spaces near my capital, I chose Stone circles for the +2 faith for each of those. I'll definitely be on the look out for more stone after this good start.

    Citizens, observe how the Armed Forces have guided sector PCE in establishing our expeditionary force. Currently, our plans involve searching the surroundings for viable [CLASSIFIED]. Now, perhaps the high council shall examine our findings.


    Not exactly prime [CLASSIFIED], but perhaps they can be convinced to support the complex.


    Once again, not what we are looking for in Aleph Complex. Still, it has potential if treated properly...


    Ah, this is more like we were looking for. A [CLASSIFIED] would do nicely here.

    So far, no nice discoveries of ancient ruins. Somebody's already found a religious city state though, one pantheon is on the board already. I'm looking to build a shrine and try running for Dance of the Arora. Got plenty of tundra at the capital for that to work for me.
    On another topic, the council is welcoming suggestions for future sector names. Strings of three letters are advised.
