Son of a bitch. Sorry guys, my GMR didn't boot up on restart for some reason, idk why. Probably better if I do drop, though. Work is pretty hectic right now and taking my turns is taking a lot longer than usual, I don't want to slow the game down.

If nobody else steps in and the drop actually occurs I'm willing to. Though I'm in the somewhat unusual position of knowing about all of your civs except the one I'd be taking over.

As nobody else has mentioned interest, and I got a bit of an update from TheOneHawk I'd like to take Persia sooner rather than later, to keep the AI interference minimal.

If there are any other takers, say so now and I'll make way. If not, full steam ahead.

The oracles today. They told tales of another peoples in the world. How they worship the pastures that we ourselves use to tame the sheep.

    We do not believe them.

Having invented a way to measure the seasons and years, we try to invent a way to escape our watery prison.

A scouting band is sent up north, to help fight off the barbarian menace.

Chieftain Ramkhamhaeng is pleased with our progress.

But directs us to build a great monument. So as to honor our gods, for generations.

The elite have gained even more power under Ramkhamhaeng guidance.

The priests have told us, we are still not the best or worst at nothing.

Our scout band advances. However there is no record of it. Chieftain Ramkhamhaeng murders the record keeper and installs a new high family.

But there is joyous news. For the settlement of Si Satchanlai is settled.

The orcs. The green skinned have no respect for cities, born of darkness, it is our people's duty to show them the final light.

But our work band completes valuable work back home.

    As does our warriorband.

This one, by the grace of Ramkhamhaeng heals up.

Our scout band merely holds the line.

Ramkhamhaeng is displeased with our lack of technological progress. For what are we, if barely better then the orcs.

Our capital. Still working on the things that'll make our island great.

And here we see our new settlement.

Ramkhamhaeng has not changed our government either, in the short time we've been here.

We are best in land, worst in nothing!

Greetings from the new governors of the Persian lands. Due to Barbarian raids upon our famed quarries, we have lost access to decorative materials and our people have grown dissatisfied.

We ask of you a loan of a bit of your excess Gold, to keep our people's spirits up in these times of trouble. In return we will send you the Marble from our mines once they are running again, we estimate only a single council session, as engineers and masons are surveying and rebuilding even as this message travels to you.

OOC: Barbs raided my Marble and so unhappiness just killed my growth, if you start the trade a turn or two early we'll offer Marble for your extra Gold once the tile is fixed up.

Here we see the most recent sector, HIL, that we have founded. While it is somewhat uncomfortably close to our seemingly antagonistic neighbors, the high council believes that it has been constructed in a defensible enough position to protect it from treasonous assaults.
Not shown on our map is our second construction squad which shall be ready for deployment in the next cycle. After that, we shall begin preparing for the defense of our sectors.

    Alright, all set. Thanks again.

Also: The gods will feast on Iroquois blood. We intervened and saved their settlers as they were about to be captured by barbarians, losing many Aztec lives in the process, and allowing other tribes to ravage our countryside unchecked. But to then attempt to use those very settlers to found a city half as close to Tenochitlan as to their capital, and as close as they possibly could? This is an insult that cannot be tolerated. We had hoped for peaceful coexistance, but the Iroquois clearly see us only as marks to be exploited.

Given that the Aztec settled a city the same distance away from our capital without informing us, the Iroquois have deduced now that the Aztec Covet all Iroquois land. We thought, given that you settled a city a mere moments before we could establish right next to the Iroquois borders along the Iroquois river, we reasoned correctly that it was in our right to due the same. Apparently Aztec's don't want to share.

A bald-faced lie, that cannot be allowed to stand. The distance between Tenochitlan and Teotihuacan is 5 hexes. The distance between it and your capital is 8, specifically so that both cities could grow fully with some buffer in between. Meanwhile, your settlers were captured 7 hexes from your capital, and only 5 from ours. If we didn't "want to share", as you claim, we could have simply allowed the barbarians to capture your settlers and claimed them safely, or even killed their almost-dead escort at any point while they were circling around and slowly inching closer to our territory. We restrained our warriors, for a city in any other location during their journey would have been acceptable, even if uncomfortably close. But you would not be happy without attempting to exploit precisely our willingness to share, and now your avarice will be your doom.

You did not inform us of any concern with our settler and thus we felt free to settle. We wanted our city on a river but apparently that was not acceptable for you. And your previous city settlement was exactly where our previous settler was moments from settling. In fact they would have gotten there before yours if not for even more barbarian interference. But it is quite clear that the Iroquois will not be allowed to grow through all the barbarians in the land.

Power Services has completed the construction of our newest sector, GEM. Unfortunately, due to treasonous settlement decisions by the previous high council, it appears Aleph Complex may be trapped at three sectors for the foreseeable future. Power Services is currently evaluating the vast tundra to our west. Although the inhospitable environment would be a breeding ground for traitors, it may provide vital access to iron for our cause. Meanwhile, the Armed Forces shall begin mobilizing for defense.

Aleph Complex has reached a slight crisis. The high council believes that we require more sectors to become a fully effective complex. However, with our potentially hostile neighbors to the south, we have very few viable areas left for future sectors. Therefore, in an act of benevolence, the council is seeking the advice of our citizens.

Here we see the only remotely viable construction zone with access to iron. Do the citizens of Aleph Complex believe it is safe enough to risk further expanding into the tundra even though there are no luxuries out there? The council also believes that secret societies may be able to form more easily due to the harsh tundra.

Another option would be to construct a boarder sector here and use it to springboard into the desert gold further south. However, we still have no sign of iron to our south. Therefore, Aleph Complex looks for the voice of the people to guide the high council in its decisions.

It is the considered opinion of Citizen #4519 that the maintenance of internal security is more important than the slight military disadvantage of having little iron. Viable alternatives to swordsmen exist and can be used without iron. Furthermore, having land capable of supporting growth in this early period of history will be a boon in later years, whereas a city founded on tundra will always struggle. This fertile land is moreover more likely to be seized by external foes than the tundra, which can be settled later if the iron shortage becomes a particular problem.
