Re: D&D Demotivators X: X Never marks the spot
I've watched some of it. Looks like it gets a lot darker, from the demotivator quote!
Didn't recognize the character. Is she the one in the wheelchair?

Re: D&D Demotivators X: X Never marks the spot
Yeah, the series starts off light and fluffy before taking a very dark turn in the second half. To be honest, though, if you gave it three or four episodes and didn't like it, I'm not sure it's for you. The purpose of the first half is to develop the characters and their everyday lives, to get you invested in them. If you found the opening boring and you aren't invested in the characters, then the second half is probably going to feel melodramatic to you.
If you bailed after the (awful) second episodes, on the other hand, then maybe give it a couple more episodes. It gets significantly better from there.

Magical Girl anime that starts off light, makes you love the characters, then takes a dark turn? Does this remind anyone of anything?

Aw, see, now I have to make a demotivator because you forgot the true hero of Skullgirls. Sadly I'm at work so I'll have to do it later, but prepare youself. We're about to step on board the AROOO train!

Re: D&D Demotivators X: X Never marks the spot
The more you have to bargain with, the more likely it'll be a success. When you have eternity to bargain with, I'm not sure you even need to roll.
Also, I had a great idea for a demotivator, but I honestly can't remember what it was going to be anymore. Was it something about Bluff checks?

Re: D&D Demotivators X: X Never marks the spot
You really need both.
High-int-low-wis understands the situation, but lacks the ability to practically apply that knowledge. This results in difficult situations that could've been easily avoided. An example would be knowing that a certain dish can be toxic if not prepared well, but failing to realize that maybe a shady third-rate restaurant probably isn't able to do so.
High-wis-low-int is the other way around: a good understanding of what is sensible, but a lack of analytic capabilities to ensure this judgement is based on facts. To use the same example, such a person would get that the restaurant is shabby and ill-equipped, but without knowing about the potential toxicity of the dish figures it's safe to order.Creator of the LA-assignment thread.

Re: D&D Demotivators X: X Never marks the spot
Got those the wrong way around. You can tell because you use know and realize in the wrong order.
High-Int Low-Wis can tell that you shouldn't go to a shady restaurant for a potentially poisonous meal, because the meal has the potential, and realizes the restaurant probably lacks the ability.
Low-Int doesn't know the meal is poisonous, but realizes the shop probably isn't a great place to eat.
Low-Wis knows the meal is potentially poisonous, 'But it's still open, so they must be fine.'
So depending on how well the familiar and sorcerer communicate, they might be able to make things work... And communication is something high-Cha characters are good at, the question is if the Familiar has a decent charisma.Originally Posted by Me
