From what I've found, the photo is actually from lake Erie.

    Yeah, Erie.

All the Great Lakes will eat you if they get a chance, but Erie's *special.* Shallow. Small. Part Canadian. Really, nothing to worry about, right? Look at a map. Look at how Erie's looking at Buffalo, NY. Now Google Buffalo's annual snowfall. Erie's a troublemaker.

I grew up on the Great Lakes. I love them. I miss them everyday. But I know they want me to be their friend. *Forever.*

They're just socially awkward by human standards. Not needing to breath with lungs, they just can't fathom that a friendly embrace will kill your average land dweller.

Oceans are kind of jerks about it, though. They'll get rough with you without a second thought or any warning.

We've all had campaigns like that- you know what I'm talking about. The setting is in the desert, every important character and plot point is in the desert, you'll probably fight a mummy at some point, etc. And then the GM buys the Stormwrack supplement and a session and half later you're on a boat and no one is quite sure how you ended up there.

That would be called Al-Qadim. Seriously go from fighting the Flamedeath Fellowship in the heart of the Genies' Anvil to sailing the southern seas in search of Fate.

I'll say. It's a little disheartening to know when people mention the name of the city you live in (or in my case near), they're talking about the lake. Erie is a pretty terrible place though.

I wish I had some demotivators to offer.
Where's what's-her-name, the chick with the pigtails?

    No.

Really? You're just going to ignore two puns like that?

Also I probably taste more like fish than chicken. And the Bering Sea doesn't think you're yummy, it just hates you and wants you to die. Like I said, it's one of the jerks. Ah, good times fun times on the ol' commercial fishing vessel.

Eventually I'll pay my tax for derailing. in the meantime I'm gonna need an extension.

    Yes.

Puns I didn't think of get ignored. I'm not gonna dignify that with a response.

Point taken. Protein source is important.

See www.windytv.com with the wind overlay chosen. Move to your hydrological location of choice to see just how much it hates you. The whole north Pacific is feeling angry right now. And the Horn and the Cape just hate everybody.

    Poor Pennsylvania.

Coasts on the Great Lakes and river access to the Atlantic. It really should have had more trade from the Midwest. Is the Susquehanna River even commercially traversable any longer?

Most of it isn't, AFAIK, nor has it ever been. The west-branch certainly isn't- it's wide and shallow. In the wet season there are way to many rapids and in the dry season you'd be lucky to get a canoe down it. I think the North branch is similar.
