Not everyone that commits a crime goes to jail for it, but some do. Also Manny's dad was physically abusive to him where Mary Weers (as far as I know) was only emotionally abusive, which is harder to prove. I could be wrong about the reason, I'm just putting two and two together. Manny's dad physically abused him (which is a crime)+Manny's dad is in jail=4.

Heh. „In my dreams? Wow. If I can take out you in my sleep you must not be that scary after all”
    That's a good one.

Also Allie's new dice were literally a part of her.
If that doesn't sway the Heart of the Dice in her favour I don't know what would.
Good that she found a worthy successor to to the Shiny Shines without betraying the way they represent her.

More importantly, Steelleg Set sounds way more awesome than Vorpal Pinks.

And unliky Mac I think a Slice-of-life campaign is a great idea for this group.
    Especially Mackenzie...
But seriously, stepping away from this cursed setting for a while can't hurt those guys.

Finally I guess that flashback happened during the tournament with the stupid rules and the tongue-breaking name?

    Ouch.
I mean we knew already that Mac lost, but if her opponent was Mika?
She stood even less of a chance than I thought.

On the other hand, boasting she saw through the d-∞?
    Calling it a scaling trick?

Pride before fall dear Mackenzie, pride before fall...
And what a impressive display of pride it was.
    Lucifer couldn't have done better.

On the gripping hand there's a tiny chance she won.
Which would only make her fall harder.

I'm not entirely sure how Mac's time in the Muda went, but I really get a Gaara vs Rock Lee vibe there. She probably would have made it further if she wasn't immediately up against THAT.

This just isn't Mac's season! Someone should really get her a stress ball or something.

So I have to wonder, how exactly the Shiny Shines can possibly physically work the way they're described.

A critical glitch requires half of your total dice to come up 1s, as well as getting no successes.

I could understand it if Allie was consistently rolling 2-3 successes, but the numbers involved in this campaign are wildly inflated from any variant of Shadowrun I've heard of. When you have people rolling 20+ successes without blowing Edge, you're looking at a base pool of like 60 dice. Even going with a conservative estimate of 40 dice, rolling a critical glitch is supremely unlucky. If the dice were balanced wrong such to make rolling ones more likely, I could see it... but in that case I'd expect Allie to constantly be stuck rolling significantly fewer successes than anyone else. Like regularly getting just 2-3 successes, but instead she vascillates wildly between performing exactly as expected and rolling a 1.

Unless I'm just overthinking it, and it should just be treated as a badly weighted d20, where the way the dice are working actually makes sense.
If my text is blue, I'm being sarcastic. But you already knew that, right?

The shiny shines aren't at a physical state of bad luck, it's at a metaphysic level:
When Allie rolls a handfull of dices, if the first die that stops rolling end up on 1, it tores up the reality frame of probabilities and other dices have therefore like 50% chances of ending up on a 1. The more 1s appears, the more reality is broken and chances are upside down.

A prophecy says that if Allie roll a critical glitch exactly when the lottery draw starts, the lottery numbers will be all ones, even if there's only one ball 1 in the jar.

Gosh, I nearly had a stroke this morning... I'm used to directly go to an adress like dandaangvanced.tumblr.com/pages/3 or /2 to get at the point I left the day before and this morning it saids : This silly Tumblr hasn't posted anything yet.
For a few seconds, I thought the autor were erased from tumblr for good.
Eventually, I get to the prime page and found out the move of the comic on another website.

I've no problem now. At the moment, I was just scared this comic were taken out for some reason about copyright or something.
But everything is fine, so I'm fine

The double pages on Lex were really a great rollercoaster.
Rick being a pushy (close to villatic) psy-DM... Then everyone being so nice and warm.

It nearly broke my heart to read Lex said that his character deepest fear was to be him. It's kinda a big chunk of self-depreciation and self-loathing.

    Aww That's sweet Allie.
I see only one problem with your plan.
    And Manny too I guess.

I don't think Mac wants to be happy.
Wether you win or loose there she'll take it as a reason to keep wallowing in misery.

Either she beats you and mopes because she is too good and the group can't keep up.
Or she looses and is miserable cause she isn't good enough and lost to a (relative) newby.

    Yes, they just did...

When I read the #1677 title, I was wondering if that was just a coincidence or if that was a reference to Moana. And then, Lex started a sentence with "I know a girl who" and I just broke!

Allie : "88 hits. Unarmed. Who knew."

That looks like some grudge between Allie and Mac... Direct reference to the battle scene in the first appearance of Amon, the second strip evoked when the Unamon battle started.

It's a bit weird because Allie and Mac seem to like each other, but their rivalry goes a bit far from time to time and they can be really harsh to each other.

And as I'm looking at the details of this page... Anyone else is a bit scared by the fact that Rick has a couple of drug's bottles and a book opened a the page of Stelazine?
    Why would he need anti-psychotic?
Is it for him (anxiety disorder, first sign of schizophrenia) ?
Or will he be "mannying" things up, by druging his player(s) for the sake of the game?

At least Manny knew he was a terrible person. Rick is slipping away and doesn't get it.

Having Simon help GM might just work though.

Most likely not, but that's just because of the narrative themes of the web comic. This comic is all about the unhealthy mindset of the various players at the table and not only has this arc just started there is still one more after it.

I haven't follow all the cristal DM's comic, so I don't know well Simon. We'll see how it goes... But my hopes for happy ending in this arc are low.

Oh, and Shelby, well done : you turn the whole "Airbending is coming back in the world to make it healed and balanced" to "Airbending is a creepy mind control disease that can put some crazy despotism at the top of the world."

Mac seems to want to be happy. She's not and the past campaigns were some bad moments, but it looks like she's started to enjoy the game anew. Allie brings her hope.

Finn has a role in this arc?

That raises the chances for a happy end.
    That boy is magic.

    So all will be well.
Well, either that or Finn's positivity and the negativity of the table neutralize each other in a huge matter-antimatter-ish reaction, causing the end of the world as we know it.

Or... this mess of a gaming group and their cursed campaign prove too much for Finnie and utterly crush the little guy's spirit.

But I'm gonna be optimistic. Finn will lead drag them, kicking and screaming, on the path to salvation.

"Red" to "Blue". The table is playing minigames while Simon's setting things up to move the Queen. It shouldn't be long at all until they spring the trap! At least Manny's paying attention. I guess he's good for something after all!
