Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
Opening Narration:
No one in the dusty town of Atreor could remember the last time that a carnival had come to town. They were out in the middle of nowhere, and it was seldom that any kind of travelers came through. In fact, no one could recall having seen any sort of flyers or news about the carnival's arrival, and no one could recall seeing them set up. The mayor could find no paperwork authorizing the arrival. It seemed as though it had popped up in the middle of the night. Curious children went to scope out the place after school, and ran home to tell their parents about the colorful place. There were clowns and cotton candy, men on stilts and ladies with beards. It all seemed magical to the young mind, but the parents had a nagging feeling about the place. Yes, no one in Atreor could remember the last time that a carnival had come to town. As for this carnival...
...No one would ever forget.
***
In the morning, several flyers had appeared throughout the town announcing one of the carnival's top performers, Quicksilver the Magician. Children flocked to the large tent and their parents followed, despite their reservations. As the crowd gathered, a man in a black tuxedo appeared from seemingly nowhere. He wore a mask that was blue in color, with a single comically large tear falling from his left eye. An announcement came over the set that the show would now begin. Quicksilver began with a few of his simplest tricks, producing several objects and transmuting them into silver. After an intense buildup, the magician released a huge flock of doves from his sleeves. As the audience roared, the lights suddenly shut off. The birds could be heard bumping into things confusedly, and the announcer came over with a startled apology. "Um... Sorry, folks, that wasn't part of the show... The backup generator should start going shortly..." As if on cue, the lights flickered on, and a low humming noise became noticeable. Quicksilver was nowhere to be seen. The announcer panicked. "Quicksilver? ...Somebody find Quicksilver! Get the Ringmaster... Get the Ringmaster!"
Although the crowd was slowly herded out of the tent and the entirety of the grounds was studied, the magician was nowhere to be found.
SpoilerQuicksilver the Magician (Penguinator) disappeared. He was a fairly dated reference.
(If anyone wants insight as to the setting, "cabalistic" means "having a hidden meaning or secret." Basically, it's the secretive carnival. For an idea of what I'm going for, see Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes.)

April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
Norman sat on the porch, surveying the town before him. He kept on making a motion to speak the passerby, but soon found that the words caught in his throat, and no sound came forth. It would appear that he needed someone to help him speak. No matter, he thought, as he rested along the porch. He'd find some help soon enough.
OOC, I vote for thematthew, for narrating the first game I was a part of here on these forums.

I'm at school and have work about an hour afterwards, but in between the two I should have enough time to RP.

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
Both of these lead me to believe that everyone (or almost everyone) was given the role of dummy.
I'll D1 claim, why not.
I'm the Dummy.
I have no voting power. At night I get a pseudoscry telling me if I've found the ventriloquist. Once I do this I gain my voting power.

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
It could be effectively an all vanilla game. Which wouldcertainly make fake claiming incredibly easy. If we assume this isn't the trick, perhaps there's a pool of puppet masters you can each link with? One ventriloquist who acts as a village power hub seems wonky.
It could also be a reverse cult conversion mechanic where a successful scry turns iyou into a wolf. Because there's nothing actually guaranteeing the ventriloquist is town.

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
And here I thought I was going to be all clever and role-play as a puppet... Yep, I'm a dummy too.
I doubt the twist is just that we're all dummies, since I can't think of a way that would actually work out and every April Fool's game except the first one has been an actual playable game. Can't think of any other ideas right now, though, and I need to leave the house soon.I'm Chaotic Good! Ish!

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
A clown, presumably with the circus (but who knows?), sidles up to you conspiratorially. He (she? it?) wears a silver jumpsuit with electric blue pom-pom buttons and a fake painted on smile that fails to hid its own rictus of muteness. He hands you a small card, on which is written in a quite flowing and elegant font the following:
You may have met my cousin with his evil, scary eyes.
No one on Earth is saddened by his spidery demise.
Robert Gray, the "It" called Pennywise, is dead so let's rejoice.
I'm the clown Pound-Foolish, the mime without a voice.
I hate to lynch this early, every death just makes me sad,
But randomness determined we should kill that guy named GAAD.
With a honk of his nose, Pound-Foolish scuttles off to parts unknown. Wherever creepy carnivals keep their creepy clowns I guess.
((I too am part of the voiceless 99%. Perhaps there is just one Ventriloquist that acts like a mason if found and passes along his vote/power if killed? Or maybe this whole game is inside the snow globe of an autistic child in an '80s television show...))Last edited by Rogue Nine; 2016-04-19 at 03:55 PM.

I'm aware that it's almost cliche at this point, but I am also the Dummy. Maybe we've all been told that we're dummies, but some of us aren't? Just a thought.
On account of having no vote, Silent Interim is a terrible person who enjoys kicking puppies. So long as they aren't associated with baskets.

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
Toddy the Teddy Bear woke up. "Oh, hello, um, Hi! I'm toddy the teddy bear! And I sure love eating pickles! Yum!" His lips moved, yet no sound came out. Children watching him whispered to their parents "I think the robot broke." Toddy, seeing the children go away, yelled "Come back, little children! We can have an adventure together!" But no one even drew a glance.
And I thought I was going to be the only person with a drawback. I'm a dummy too.
What I think is gonna end up happening is that everyone will claim dummy, and then when there is a lynch, everyone targets whoever voted for the previous lynchee. I just can't wait...

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
The pups walked through the carnival, looking back and forth through the crowds. They mapped out trash cans where they could most likely scavenge for dinner. After being rudely kicked by a Silent man, they scampered away, hoping to regroup.
