Default Call of Cthulhu(6e) Do the rules cover Investigators cooperating on rolls?

For example, having multiple Investigators lift up something heavy that requires rolling on the Resistance Table(s?) for Strength. Or dogpiling on top of someone to wrestle them to the ground. Or having 5 people playing tug of war with a chained up crocodile.

We've ended up in situations like this twice in the past 3 sessions, the last time working together to keep a monster we were performing a ritual on chained up so we could finish and this most recent session we were trying to push open a heavy door that ended up taking the Investigators an hour in game to deal with.

For some reason, we can't seem to find the rules (if any) that address this sort of thing, so the Keeper has ad-hoc'd it as increasing the effective strength score for making the roll by 1 or 2 per person.

So if this is covered, where is it that we've missed it? If it's not, then any suggestions about how to adjudicate that would be appreciated.

I tend to be pretty leery about cooperative rolling in CoC. Usually when cooperation is called for I assign the roll to whoever has the highest chance of success. If they've got a clever way of working together, slap a 5-10% boost to the roll.

If there isn't such a rule how about D&D-style Aid Another?

One of the characters attempts the roll. Anyone who also has the relevant skill can aid and rolls against the skill. If the aid roll is a success, the one attempting the roll gets a bonus of... 10%? That's the same as +2 in D&D.

Of course, the simple thing to do would be to just give everyone with a relevant skill a separate attempt to succeed on the skill roll, at the same time. Two attempts with skills of 75% and 33% is still a better chance of success than one attempt with a skill of 75%.

If you've got multiple investigators contributing to a task like opening a heavy door, just add their Strength together and make one roll.

For the dog-piling, once a single investigator has successfully initiated a grapple the other investigators can contribute their Strength by leaping on without having to grapple themselves.

Other types of cooperation, I'd just give anyone capable of helping a chance to roll against their skill as well.
