    Default Re: Lords of Creation (LOC): The Light and Darkness (IC)

    The body that once belonged to Pine began to deteriorate after some months of continual possession, as Tavteth could not forever refrain from hollowing it out, consuming irrelevant musculature and fat reserves to make room for more of their own tendrils. The Shadow had to get comfortable if they were going to keep infesting one being for long aeons, and as their mind meditated on the question of Necromancy, their hands copied various tedious passages, endeavouring to fake Pine's recognisable handwriting. It had already had ideas of how the basic Revenant design could be modified to allow for energy intakes, and if the Revenants were given a solution soon after their problem began, they might in desperation take it without looking too hard at the fine print. Disseminating these solutions might be difficult; better that they be found, in carefully written note form from a known necromantic researcher.

    After a long time looking at the available options, Tavteth chose the broadest. It was not fitting to merely deny Revenants their eternity - a future model of life or unlife might be created which had no reason to Hunger, no reason to suffer, no reason to compete with its fellows. The problem was broader than Necromancy itself; it lay in how a permanent link to a source of magic could be established, without requiring maintenance in the form of material resources.

    On the one hundredth anniversary of kind Noctelax's gift, the earth shuddered, as from beneath the Creparlan Desert, Tavteth scrawled a new law into Creation. No longer would any process be forever. No longer would energy come from the Great Beyond that was not paid for in the material world. By nook or by crook, every mortal that was to be animate had to consume matter to move - even summoning a burst of magical energy to act as reserves required the expenditure of material ingredients, so that nothing could be made of pure magic.

    As this new law of reality solidified and took effect, Revenants everywhere felt their bodies begin to waste away, decomposed to provide energy as it was for the living. It is likely that they might have researched a means to persevere on their own given time, but time was the one thing they didn't have as they began literally starving to their second deaths. As it was, many variations of a crude, inefficient solution based on stealing life from the living were researched and implemented. One Revenant using this approach would need perhaps ten living retainers, rotated out as they grew old and sick from the burden of being revenant food; a great herd of beasts good for nothing but fertilising, too weak to carry burdens and producing stringy, diseased meat when butchered; or a vast garden that could have fed fifty living people if sown with crops.

    Obviously, these burdens became smaller if a revenant was willing to accept that its time in the material world was limited, but that rather defeated the point for most Chiropterans. The Drawves had a different set of problems - they entered unlife to continue their crusade, so knew well that dying again was an acceptable risk, but they migrated and did not have the infrastructure to devote to generating life for their Revenant members. Perhaps this would drive them to fight harder, to devour their enemies in order to prolong their own crusading careers.

    Giving Noctelax a chance to react before Tavteth implements a obvious trap solution.

    Tehran noticed a few things. It didn't have enough energy to do it earlier; so it did it now.
    The souls housed within the random body parts and corpses littering the Garden of Hevvin were still competing spiritually, though there had to be a better way to have them continue.
    The souls should be competing while in physical contact with each other. The souls of course had no physical existence, but the bodies they were stuck in did.

    A blessing was cast that altered the environment apparent in Hevvin. Throughout the air, and permeating from the ground, a mist began to emerge. It began to turn all the bodies and body parts into a more malleable form; mostly liquid, though 5% of each piece could remain intact as a chunk. The cells making up the parts wouldn't be damaged; they would simply be broken down into the sludge form as stated.
    This would cause all the parts to be able to touch, and allow the entwined competing souls to more effectively train with and against each other. Friendlier, that is. No capacity of an 'us vs them' mentality, since all matter would be a single continent-spanning pool.

    But that wasn't the only thing that needed to happen here. The souls that ascended to Hevvin should know what it is that was happening with the mass that would one day birth them new forms. They should understand the reasoning behind why the souls weren't attached to the bodies they once owned, and why they were indiscriminately being fused together. The information wasn't planned on traveling outside Hevvin. Not yet. Tehran's newborns could go forth and teach that information at a later time. The god would teach them the concept of symbiosis.

    That was only something physical, though. Shouldn't the dead gain even more knowledge? They were already learning from one another, learning the details of each other's lives. So many things that if a single thing changed, then the entire course of their lives would have been drastically different. The entwined souls were taught something else- how to make use of this information so their next lives would be more fulfilling. Using information to predict enemy action. Using information to predict the flow of conversations between friends. Using information to predict rain, and all sorts of things. This wasn't a perfect skill yet; though it did allow them to learn from their combined history and the success and failure rates of various actions and predictions, and the variables involved. They were taught statistics.

    Wait a moment. Having the reforged ascended go back to the material plane and teach the living... skills from the dead? This was a good idea indeed, but something would have to change first.

    Wuwafa.

    Reforming out of seawater in a whirlpool of foam and seaweed, the god had a distinct feeling.

    This would not do.

    The recent additions to the world were not at all agreeable. While he couldn't help but feel a small pang of admiration at the shadow god that had corrupted his depths, and for the new controlled oscillation of Revenant life, it was weakening many of those he was largely agreeable to. The Revenants had been a solution by which the Wu could venture into dry lands, and into the depths that housed little plant life, dark as they were. With the requirement to steal the essences of others, the large number of Wu Revenants was simply unsustainable.

    If he simply counteracted the curse, it would be a matter of contention, and he had no wish to engage in warfare while he was still young. If he simply created a way around it, that was the key. Even better, if he could solve the problem of the inequalities produced by the Snow Faeries, who had such dominion...

    With a whisper into the heart of every Wu Priest, he created Elementalism, a new magic involving control over Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Every individual priest could access a single element, and use the art to sculpt and produce the element in question, with more potent users having more potent effects. It, generally, required an incantation of some sort, alongside bodily gestures and willpower, but the specifics were rather flexible. The Wu were instructed to spread it, as best as they could, to all the other races, as balance would help propagate oscillated equilibrium.

    Armed with a spark of divine inspiration, the Wu Priests quickly collaborated among the Collective of Clans, while the freshwater priests were informed by divine mandate. They began to master the art, and the freshwater priests began teaching it to everyone and everybody, including the Wu commoners (they did not wish to, but the voice of their god brooked no argument). Armed with the capacity to create vegetation and moisture (alongside a slightly decreased death rate), further Wu began traveling inland among the grasslands, wastelands, goblin mountains, and snow lands, armed with appropriate magics for survival. It wouldn't be long before everyone could manipulate the elements, Wu, Drawves, Goblins, Martellians, Hyren, Chiropterans, and Snow Faeries alike. Given purpose directly from their god, the Wu were persistent in teaching the art to everyone they could find.

    As for the Revenants? It was found that the undead could learn the skill, simply enough, and that those attuned to elemental Wood (for the Wu remained seaweed serpents) could use it to sustain themselves. Other Wu attuned to Wood could also use it to sustain Wu Revenants, but doing so required two hours of magical ritual daily. It was with a touch of spite at the one that had corrupted the depths of the ocean, that he made it so that one (talented, and specifically specialized) mortal could sustain ten Revenants, rather than the other way around, at least among the Wu. Well, either that or just have a Wu Revenant specialized in wood take care of it, which is precisely what was most common.

    Heku, after finishing his conversation with the missionary, had discovered an innate talent for Wood, and thusly remained in control and amassing more control over the Collective. The Freshwaters created a separate organization for themselves, the Aggregate of Clans, and had begun to have reasonably peaceful talks with the Collective. While territory wars still reigned, they were becoming less vicious, and more like a particularly bloodthirsty sport.

    After a coup de grace on Heku's part, he gained control over both the Aggregate and the Collective, though they continued to function in a mostly independent fashion.

    His light was cast upon the Luz once again, and more specifically upon their king. He granted upon Leonal, Third of his Lineage, the gift of Radiant Magic. The ability to draw upon small portions of his God's power to work minor miracles on behalf of his people. It was only a matter of time before the panicking Chiropterans found Tavteth's discarded notes, attributed to a research necromancer by the name of Pine, which had - as far as they knew - anticipated the hypothetical scenario of Revenants suddenly needing to consume energy from outside of themselves and provided three mechanisms for this.

    One was simply a refinement of the existing ad-hoc solutions of draining life - nothing like as efficient as Wu methods, but the suggested rituals required only two dedicated servants for each revenant which preferentially used them, rather than ten.

    One was a dangerous ritual which permanently altered a single revenant, with various benefits and downsides. Those who chose this path gained the ability to eat meat like a living being in order to survive, and not only heal like a living being, but while actually eating, heal injuries far faster than any living being. Unfortunately, the ritual had the side effect of damning its 'beneficiary' to rot away like a normal corpse, though the burst of healing from digesting meat would reverse this decay. Those who resorted to this path became known as Ghouls, and they were surprisingly many - once the conversion process was complete, a Ghoul was not faced with moral quandaries more complicated than any meat eater, and the form was not without its advantages.

    The last was a method by which revenants could temporarily access their old power source, by drinking the blood of a sapient being and using it as the focus for a Necromantic spell. This approach was popular among revenant scholars, who were almost all necromancers by definition; theoretically, it required less of an imposition on each mortal who contributed, compared to direct life draining. Unfortunately, in practice those who used the ritual of vampirism ended up drinking far more than their share - partly because the process was physically addictive, and partly because it allowed them to store great reserves of raw power, far beyond what had been possible when Revenants had been resource-neutral.

    2 AP: Create Sub-Concept "Vampirism", a branch of Necromancy concerned with accessing the power source that used to keep Revenants animate all the time through the use of blood. Use is both addictive and tempting, since it allows you to gather up a large amount of raw power, hence the temptation to use it far beyond the amount necessary to remain animate. Any further side effects can wait for when I have ideas and points.

    Drawves, a Necessary Crusade towards Goblin lands

    In ships to cross the sea the Drawven crusadors were launched to find the goblins. That's where the changes in the undead occured. Many of the Drawves at a loss for what was happening leapt into the sea. To end it, or in the hopes to satisfy a hunger with fish it is unknown. Regardless, they did not return.

    Ser Vace sat in the front ship at the front watching for the sight of land or the sight of evil. His eyes flickering even more that they were wont out of anticipation of the forthcoming events. Drawves came to him to ask about their change. Ser Vace batted them away. That did not concern him. Evil concerned him.

    Time passed when Ser Vace gave a cry. He could see land. It would only be a few hours before the Drawves could see land to. He summoned his divination flame as the air around him became cooler. Indeed, it indicated clearly: that land ahead of them, indeed it was home to evil.

    Uriel rolls the gem that had been left in the rooms of himself and his queen in between his fingers. He could feel the spirit below the surface, the same person who had died by wyvern. Setting the gem down in a small hallow in the ice block in front of him he picks up the next, this one slightly bigger it rages under his fingers and as he holds it he can feel the savage intelligence snapping at him from just under the surface. Holding this one with just three fingers Uriel forces the instincts trying to drop over him and make him want to cut his way through those in the room behind him. Dropping it back into the hollow he had picked it up from. Turning back to the group who had brought in the wyvern gem he steps away from the block holding the half dozen gems that had been created so far and sets his hand on the leaders shoulder. Looking over them he compliments them.

    "It took courage to hunt one of the wyverns all by yourself, join us in our feast."

    Turning them around and leading them out of the small room Uriel looks back at the two fairys standing guard on the room and gives them a significant look. As the door is closed behind them and they make their way through the castle halls and into a larger one where meat had been laid out on tables with the freshly cleaned skull set high up on the wall to join half a dozen others with marks carved below them to represent how many took it down. The newest only one person higher than the lowest.

    Uriel walks past the group of 7 who had stopped when they entered and put an arm around his queen as he motioned at the tables piled with food.
    "Eat, relax. Tomorrow we will have a celebration for what you did."

    Turning as the group falls on the meat and starts to eat Uriel guides his queen Tatiana across the room and sets a gem with a soul inside it into her palm, looking at her as she feels the spirit inside and looks him in the eyes. Lowering her eyes to the gem and holding it between her hands she mouths words as she pulls knowledge and memorys from it into her self. Turning back into the room Uriel lets her as he calls one of the messengers who follow them around and says into her ear softly.

    The Goblins

    The Goblin megalopolis continued its rapid expansion, as new Charters continued to be founded as the needs of the city would continuously change.

    The Strange Mysteries on the Way to Destruction Charter:
    Although not one of the most populated Charters, it may arguably be the most powerful Charter within Big City. A mysterious and secretive Charter whose Goblin mages who study in isolated enclaves methods to bend reality upon their whim. Such secrecy does this Charter have that one does not apply to join the Strange Mysteries on the Way to Destruction Charter, instead the Strange Mysteries on the Way to Destruction Charter finds you. Once selected, a Goblin is then initiated into the Great Pyramid, a rigid hierarchical structure with the Own Head sitting at its top. All forms of magic are taught within the Strange Mysteries on the Way to Destruction Charter, however as a lot of their spells do have a rather nasty tendency to backfire, then explode, the Goblins within this Charter were soon given the nicknames of 'splodymancers.

    The Main Files of the Stories They Wrote Charter:
    Everyone knows that Goblinkind is the greatest race in the world, just like its also common knowledge that Big City is the greatest city that has ever or will ever exist. However as Big City is crawling with millions of Goblins they knew that if they were to rely on stories passed from one generation to the next generations of Goblins, it would be a matter of time before the world's history would be permanently corrupted. Therefore, it falls upon the scholars of the Main Files of the Stories They Wrote Charter to observe, collect and store world history for future generations of Goblins. It was the Main Files of the Stories They Wrote Charter who began placing chronological dates upon historical events with the biggest global event being set as the founding of Big City.(All other historic events pale before this grandeur moment). Therefore, History has been separated into BBC (Before Big City) and ABC (After Big City). However, the one who bares the heavy burden of writing down history must be free from all preoccupation of interest and vanity, and as the Goblins have none of these virtues, the Charter is always open for bribes in order to ensure that "true" History is maintained, making it a real shame that the Goblins were the first race to actively archive History. Thus, was bestowed upon them the nickname of "Pencil Necks".

    The Excellent College of the Invention Charter:
    Whether a Goblin needs to have a building erected that will hopefully not collapse... or explode, or a new machine to help mow down pesky pests, then the Excellent College of the Invention is the place were the greatest feats of Goblin ingenuity can be found. Brilliant and often bordering on (or outright) insane Goblins toil night and day to create magnificent buildings with the least construction deaths (anything below 30% mortality rate of the workforce is considered a positive result) or to create a machine for various (and often dubious) purposes. As the saying goes "Goblin products are made to blast!" and few Charters follow this creed as closely as the Excellent College of the Invention Charter. Often a new invention which should be deemed as 'unsafe' (normally due to cost cuts, as most Engineers don't have a qualm about cutting corners if it means they can pocket the difference for themselves) is released to the general public, but once again, if less than 30% of the products malfunction, then it is considered a market success. The nickname given to this Charter is "Malpractice Cases".

    (Goblins are now a Developing Society)

    Meanwhile... far from Bad City, lies the tallest mountain of the Goblin Lands. The Goblins, being masters of originality had therefore named this place "Mt. The Big Tall Place." Yet this place was sacred, and no Goblin dared step there as they were specifically prohibited to do so by Nilbog the Great. Perhaps he was keeping a low profile all this time, but it did not mean that the Goblin god was idle.

    "Mwahahahahahahaha!"
    an annoying voice can be heard within one of the many caves found within Mt the Big Tall Place, as Nilbog eyes out his latest creation. It was true that the Goblins where small and weak, but while their wits, charms and 'goblin good looks' would help them survive, it would only get them so far. What they needed was muscle... pure muscle. While the Goblins would be cunning, these new creatures would be pure brutal. Brutal, but by instinct loyal and obedient to the Goblins, for this new race was once Goblins... but no more.

    These new creatures where much bigger than the Goblins... bigger and much more muscular, and just like the Goblins they were loud, looked hideous and smelled bad. Not to mention that both where green. But that is where the similarities ended. While the Goblins would scream and yell, but in the end compromise while trying to gain as much as possible, these creatures only knew one thing "might makes right."

    True to this philosophy, this new race falls upon one another to see who would be the dominant one, and just like the Goblins, a bloody civil war erupted, as the bodies pile up. But where the Goblin Civil War lasted decades, this civil war lasted for a single day. For among the remaining survivors, a victor emerged. Bigger, stronger and more brutal and vicious than any other of his brethren. The others knew that, for they instinctively knew who it was as the Tribes where united by the one who earned the coveted title of "Grand Poo-Bah of the Orcs."

    Wuwafa.

    As the Goblins engaged in warfare and Drawves engaged in crusaded, the Wu were otherwise occupied. Heku's bids for power had reached fruition, and he was declared official monarch of the clans, including loose governing power. His long life and native talents made him one of the most skilled magic users among the seaweed serpents, while his seeming favor from Wuwafa himself granted him esteem.

    Staying away from vampirism and ghoulism, given their effective solutions, Wu society became steadily more and more abundant. With a gentle nudge here and there, they discovered a process known as agriculture, a way to cultivate plants and seaweed as they pleased without expending magic. There were regular crop rotations, seed planting, the works; most underwater, some venturing the technique on land. While the basics of the concept had already existed, they refined it to a science, and their population grew even more. The leviathans made excellent cattle; squid made excellent ink. In fact, the squid was made a popular household pet (not that they had houses, but still).

    After that, given an excess of ink, it was soon put to use, as Heku and his advisors created a standardized writing system from scratch. The goblins and other races already had their own written and spoken languages, of course, but they were unrefined, tedious, unsystematic, and individualized. Dubbing the written language Common, it was designed to be easily learned, and, while essentially Wu, easily converted to better match with other languages.

    Wuwafa himself, after careful deliberation, reformed from the water once more. To all his priests in all the oceans, he whispered a secret; one they would spread, as they had before. It was a new type of Elementalism, dealing with the arcane forces of the universe, rather than simple magic. It was, in essence, the element of Force. Unlike the others, anyone who knew the essentials of Elementalism could use it; unlike the others, it was sufficiently difficult that those who mastered it could devote no additional effort towards necromancy, or divination.

    This unfortunate side effect lead to Wuwafa contemplating a solution, which he soon enacted. Taking the weakest fraction of the Wu, those of little power and little renown, he gathered them around where he had manifested, a great stone island of steep slopes and much greenery. The seaweed serpents milled about, their territorial instincts temporarily mitigated, sharing information and nervously chattering. In a wave of silver light, emitted from the tallest peak of the island, they were transformed, resplendent and luminous.

    They had been the Wu. They were now the Coatls.

    A more potent sub-race, he created them such that they could manipulate all elements with equal ease, and do so with minimal effort. They would both grow larger, and live longer; rather than growing to twenty feet in six years, they would grow to sixty feet in eighteen. They were the embodiments of Elementalism, masterful priests one and all; each amphibious, each with rainbow feathered wings and a body made of rainbow colored seaweed. Given their mastery of the magic, they could not use any other, nor be raised by necromancy, and their longer lifespans would make them slower to spread and far wiser. Rather than needing constant moisture, they could fly through clouds to keep themselves moist, and the rays of the moon could provide their food.

    He deliberately bade them to keep themselves separated, from the mundanities of Wu politics, for they were, quite literally, above such things. They still remained unsuited for direct combat, still being soft and squishy, but magic had balanced the playing field somewhat, and they were capable in defense.

    They swiftly flew to all the oceans, making contact with the regular Wu and establishing themselves as distant protectors thereof. Warfare continued, and it was even more... well, not bloody, but something close, as organized blood sports became common among the evil clans. Wuwafa watched, and waited.

    Default Re: Lords of Creation (LOC): The Light and Darkness (IC)

    As Tavteth had grown in power, they had felt a force pushing them away, pushing them back towards the Plane of Darkness, out of the material world. It had been there from the moment they first entered, had strengthened significantly when the first great work was complete, and the Hole in the World had felt it strengthen further as they wrought their damage upon the world below. The force far outpaced the growth of power it was reacting to, and it would not be long before Tavteth was expelled from the plane.

    Time for a spot of sympathetic magic.

    The body of Pine took its final flight towards Aetheria, flying high so that the darkness of night would conceal its form adequately. Creature of darkness that they were, Tavteth had no difficulty seeing through the veil of night, and identified an isolated village. A filthy place, Tavteth mused as it descended, suffering an infestation of fleas and rats that the locals lacked the resources to prevent. They had had a bad harvest, so many were sick and dying; the ritual was urgent, and had no real need of fancy ingredients, but Tavteth still spent a good half an hour extending its awareness through the village, probing for the candidate, contemplating whose loss would cause the most pain.

    Eventually, they settled on the village's most competent healer, a mother of three, whose husband was beyond her own talents to save. Tavteth abandoned the increasingly decrepit body of Pine, leaving it to fall dead to the floor and rot, or be eaten by rats; its tendrils instead enveloped the mother it had chosen, and dragged her out of the village. Her children would never know that their only caretaker had never chosen to abandon them, and would likely be shamed as the children of a deserter, over and above facing a lifetime as orphans.

    Leaving the village behind, Tavteth flew to the depths, to the way they remembered finding from the Plane of Darkness to the material world. Strange, how it was larger and more obvious now - perhaps the entry had not been as slick and painless as intended. No matter. Its form had proven cocoon enough that the Luz victim was still living when she woke up in the Plane of Darkness, engulfed by the foremost evil of the world, bound and helpless.

    It was not her suffering that Tavteth needed, but the orb of Radiance in her chest. Their tendrils got to work, removing small pieces of the healer one by one, quickly eliminating any organs or musculature that might have obstructed the way to the orb. The Hole in the World spared the woman's lungs and diaphragm, so that she might continue living long enough to see what use her death had served, and for the joy of her muffled screams. With her dying breaths, she saw Tavteth rip out her orb, and inject their own darkness into it, enveloping the light, consuming the light, and doing so from the inside. A black scrawling pattern rapidly spread from the centre of the orb, engulfing its light, until only a dim ember remained, just enough to reveal to an onlooker that the orb was choked and defiled by the Shadow Cast By The Night.

    The Dark Orb was more than a mockery, however; it was an effigy of the material world, a symbol of the extent of Tavteth's ambition. Nothing, and no one, would escape the implacable corruption of the Hole in the World, and from this was derived its primary use - as a focus for spreading that implacable corruption, drawing more of the world into Tavteth, making its creator more, and solidifying the claim that it represented.

    Standing in the flat snow packed courtyard in front of the castle Uriel stabs into the air with the spear he was holding, his body shining with swear that froze and with audible sounds with each movement it is swallowed up with the hundreds of others also doing similar things all around. The harsh training that had gone on for several hours already was reaching its conclusion, the pairs that had been sparring were starting to split up and went to join their squads to rush back inside to get the thin layer of ice off and warm up in the fires that sat here and there in carefully made stone fireplaces. The last one still practicing Uriel slowly dropped his spear from its ready position and turned to the half dozen who had been watching over him waiting for the practice to end.

    The 6 heads of the wardens walk forward and while two seem fine with being there the other four had hard faces as they held their own spears. Uriel sighs to himself and uses his fist to crack the ice that had started to form on his body and twisted his body back and forth to get the rest of it off. Spinning his spear and stabbing it into the packed snow he stepped forward and crossed his arms. Saying to those forming a half circle in front of him.

    "I know you do not wish for this but it is needed. We have no enemy's here in Terisu. None to test our skills against and even worse some are becoming complacent believing they have no need to keep themselves sharp. So, from here on we will split the army's and do live practice. We will lose fairy's, but we will gain stronger Wardens."

    Two of the Warden leaders had interested and agreeing looks on their face, the scar covered Teriu and the young Cuvor both thought it was needed as well. But the other four were less curtain, and as they started to argue back and forth Covur stepped forward and pulls her small spear out stabbing it into the snow next to Uriels as she spits back at those who were arguing.
    "We are the Wardens of the Eye. This place was given to us to live in and to guard by the same one who created us. Look around! we would never have this without Nudar, but we will lose it the first time something comes because we are not ready. If you will not see reason for this, than i will make you."

    Turning away and flying into the air Covur flies past the wall and into the air beyond as the other Warden leaders look after her in surprise. They knew she was hot blooded and loved to fight but they also knew she was one of the firmest believers of Nudar.

    --------------------------

    Covur streaks across the skies cursing those who were growing complacent and not ready. Flying far and fast she soon gets to the inside edge of the ice storm and makes her way through its vicious ice and snow. Getting buffeted and tossed around she grits her teeth and ignores the rips and wounds the ice was causing her wings and body as she forces her way through the storm going for the outer edge. Determined to get here and call on the one who watched over them she flew faster and faster till after many hours of savage flying conditions she almost tumbles out of the storm to land on some packed snow on the outside and lay in it shivering and bleeding. Dragging herself up and to her feet the determined Warden leader forces herself to get to the top of a small hill before falling. Her breath making the snow in front of it barely move as she whispers into it as darkness engulfs her mind.
    "Make them see... I give my life to make them see..."

    --------------------------

    Walking over the snow making it crunch and crackle like rocks breaking Nudar walks up to the top of the hill where the almost dead body of a snow fairy sits. Blood loss and exhaustion were combining to drain her of life. Reaching down and picking up the tiny body with one hand he uses one finger from the other to spread her out in his hand. Already passed out and her breath getting weaker and weaker Nudar can see the beginnings of death starting to pass over her. Speaking softly to the small body.

    "Come now Covur, this is no place for you to die. I am not done with you yet. So, it is time to wake and lead the newest ranks of the wardens."

    In the boney hand of her god Covur opens her eyes slowly as her body grows and changes.

    The Goblins

    As the Goblins witness the intoxicated beard thing with legs barks out demands, many are unsure of what to do. Fortunately within the crowd where some Screechers who decided that this was too great of an opportunity to miss. From behind the city walls, a great commotion can be heard for several hours, as Goblins are yelling and screaming. It would even seem that there is a huge scuffle going on.

    All of a sudden, a Goblin is catapulted from behind the wall, and lands near Ser Vace. It is squirming as it is tied, gagged and unarmed. Pinned on its shirt is a note saying

    "I AM THE GOBLIN CHAMPION! FIGHT ME!"

    All of a sudden, another Goblin is catapulted, and lands near Ser Vace. This one too is tied, gagged and unarmed with a note pinned on its shirt proudly declaring

    "I AM THE GOBLIN CHAMPION! FIGHT ME!"

    And then another is thrown... and another... and another... until it is raining "Goblin Champions", thousands of them. Of course knowing nothing about the Great Goblin race or culture, little could Ser Vace know that the Screechers had decided to utilize these inferior beings to help thin out the over-populated Big City. Therefore the Goblin Senate had asked for Goblin volunteers to face this... weird thing. Naturally as nobody stepped forward, the Goblin Senate dubbed any Goblin they didn't like as "The Goblin Champion" and sent them flying over the city walls. Male, Female, Young, Old, Strong, Sickly, it made no difference to the Goblins.

    Such was the chaotic ways of the Goblins, as more Champions come raining down without any signs of stopping any time soon.

    This wasn't working as well as it should have. Sure, Tehran had enacted a lot of laws and edited even more, but there were a few souls, reflections, bodies, and parts of bodies not yet accounted for. It was supposed to be a passive influx of materials without a single thought needed as to the majority of it.
    But without actually using any energy, the laws were imperfect. Inefficient.
    How could the God of Statistics allow this? So, some energy was required after all.

    The scroll was defragmented from the inconsequential cloud that appeared to make up Tehran's form, and it coalesced. It was part of him, it wasn't part of him. It was of him but not for him, simply a portion of what a mortal would call a brain.
    Living things stored their thoughts in cell connectivity, their spirit, and their soul- Tehran instead used a gigantic library of scrolls apparently made of various materials with various ink types to store its own thoughts. It was how it envisioned it, and so it was right.
    They weren't actually scrolls.

    But upon this one, the laws of physics, magic, and nature that dictated the planescape of Hevvin were written. Putting energy into that scroll at last, the laws felt complete. Still malleable, but the cracks in which the few lost parts slipped through were sealed.

    Tehran figured it was about time to make an edit, since the scroll was already out, and all.

    As the Drawven revenants tried to find a way in - although, some of them also taking advantage of the fee meals that the goblins were throwing down to them - Ser Vace was suspicious. He did not trust that the goblins were perhap sending the heroes of their species down so that Ser Vace would slay what evil cannot.

    Still there was an easy way to find out. A flame leapt out of Ser Vace's hands and went to the nearest goblin champion. It engulfed the goblin. If evil it would consume the goblin. If not evil it would be harmless. Then it bounced away to one champion to another. Although, not at a pace greater than champions were being provided. The Drawves' hunger and feasting was necessary to avoid quickly being overwhelmed.

    Wuwafa.

    The Coatls, though initially positioned as protectors of the Wu, had begun violent disagreement with Heku's dictates as effective monarch. Alongside their other differences, several of them had conspired with those who were unsatisfied with the current state of affairs, and had formally broken off from primary Wu society.

    Rather than living among the waters, they began living among the clouds, stepping in as needed to defend greater Wu society, yet forming their own. After a short while, the societal offshoot ended up forming into a simplistic democracy, local Coatls voting on matters of government. They worshipped Wuwafa with all the more fervor, focusing on his association with the moon more than his oceanic focus, and spending their days amid magic, leisure, and basking in the lunar light.

    With a whirlpool of foam, a pale figure cloaked in seaweed emerged from the ocean, clutching a staff of coral and grimacing. He felt a tug to the plane of light, away from the ocean that he held so dear, that was impossible to resist properly. His work with magical arts was incorporating into his being, and the worship he was receiving was hastening the process.

    Feeling the last piece click into his being, the waters surrounding him swirled, glowing in a rainbow of colors and engulfing him. They disappeared, and so did he; ascended to the plane of light, now beyond the childhood of his divinity. It was uncomfortably bright, but he moved himself to a corner of the plane, where it was more silvery in color and more to his preference.

    He was the first to ascend, but he wouldn't be the last, and he contemplated his next move.

    With the creation of the Dark Orb, Tavteth had taken their primary tactic and internalised it into their very being. Everything it touched, it defiled at a deeper level than mere matter, in a deeper fashion than mere poison or plague. Wherever its tendrils reached, there light would become darkness, there hope would be lost to despair, there joy would turn to ashes.

    As the Dark Orb was made out of Luz, so it became a vector, spreading Tavteth's taint to the Luz themselves. Those whose connection to Lumien wavered too long found their Radiance twisting, perverting itself into an Umbra which drew light away from their surroundings. Other Luz, cruel of heart and unable to access the Radiance, found they gained the Umbra after expecting never to have any form of Radiance.

    With that development, Tavteth flexed, and felt somehow more once again. They poked experimentally at the portal they had first entered the world from, and indeed they no longer could enter it directly. As expected. Things would need to be done differently from here on in.

    The Hole in the World dove to a deep corner of the Plane of Darkness, and there settled down, almost to rest. The seed was planted, nothing could stop it from growing, and besides, Tavteth needed no clumsy physical intervention to implement their malign ends.

Its uses are perversions rather than inversions of the Radiance - Umbra healing is so painful that it is a viable non-lethal weapon, Umbra barriers are of darkness instead of light, and instead of granting light to see by, the Umbra lets a user see in the dark.

    Revenants

    The revenants felt the curse of Tavteth and found out their necromantic magic could not heal them like before. While some became ghouls, others felt like this was a betrayal of Necromancy which shouldn't require resources from the material world. The Chiroperans had discovered that in dryness and salt they could preserve their foods for ages allowing them to store them during a rainy day. Certainly if one could preserve food like this, they could preserve flesh?

    And thus new Revenants came about, the Mummies. Mummies were dry and kept that way through magic. In addition the necromancers strengthened their magic to make the mummies physically stronger and more versed in the Necromantic Magic. Though the Mummies had not completely escaped entropy, but the process was incredibly slow, giving them time before this curse could end.

    Martel cocked his head slightly, curious at the creature that appeared before him as he replied "Alliance? I suppose. There is much to create. Another to create beside would be welcome. My name is Martel."

    Martel

    Martel felt something wrong in the air. He wasn't sure what it was exactly but it felt like part of the world had been murdered. The air felt dead and wrong even within his own lands... His tireless children began to tire and the dead creatures that had come to visit his lands began to fall apart and die.

    This, while he had seen little of the world, worried him above all else he had seen. It like the parasite creatures aimed to corrupt and kill his vision. It wasn't him and his understanding of the others, made him wonder who was doing it and why? Why would anyone need to do something like this?

    He would need to look into this but first something would need to be done. The parasites had been a simple matter for his children. Easy to see, easy to remove, and easy to kill. But this was everywhere as if a darkness had washed over the beautiful world he had found.

    What would work? If the land was dying, perhaps flooding it with energy would work? No. Too Wide. His children? His creations? How? The land was becoming dark. Perhaps some light could help.

    He was of the light. His children were of him. Perhaps they could be of the light as well. He began to kindle something within the first of his children. Ajakis. How could he describe it? His children were the pilots, the engines, and the fuel for their bodies. Their was no differentiation between them and their souls. Perhaps what he was creating was an undersoul to their... Oversoul?

    They were the pilot, the engine, and the fuel. This new thing, this thing of light, a tie to the place of his creation. It was fuel and perhaps one day another engine. A constant source of energy to feed their souls drawing from an infinite pool of light.

    Yes. This would work. Light from Dark. Life from Death. Something from Nothing.

    Ajakis had felt an odd sensation within himself lately.It wasn't unpleasant for him, just odd. As he spoke to his kin he discovered that they had felt the same thing. The tired feeling that had begun to plague his people had faded shortly after the sensation began, but it's source or it's meaning was absent to him. Once it had become known that it was felt amongst the people, not simply the self, he was once again the one that was come to for answers.

    He didn't have answers this time, and so with his assumptions that it was his creator, he focused upon Martel and with as much effort as he could muster upon such a task forced his thoughts and his question at his creator.

    And then a thought entered his mind. He heard Martel. Slowly. What he asked and more. The voice told him of the world. Of the origins of the afflictions upon them and their lands (or what Martel knew of them). Of the origins of the visitors to their lands. And of what he learned to be a gift to his people and what was to eventually be a gift to the rest of the world.

    As he listened to the voice it began to tell him of the creator Martel had encountered and of the people near their lands, of the things this other people could have to offer them and of the things they could offer the other people. A few cartographers and therefore watchers was slowly organized beside some of the most dedicated craftsmen of the glasslands to begin organizing trade with the other peoples of the world, an expedition into the Creparlan desert first and most prominently.

    ...

    The massive amount of entwined souls residing within the mostly liquified remains of the reflected mortal remains needed a name. Simply referring to them as what they were was becoming tiresome.
    Tehran thought of what they should refer to themselves as, if any living thing were to ask them, or simply ask an opinion on something.

    "We have consensus." is the desired answer they would give; they'd reach this answer because any one of them is all of them. So, Tehran decided to give them this new name, forming them into a genuine societal structure as much as a dimensional plane full of the dead could form. They were indeed Consensus.

    Noticing some of the other gods, namely Noctelax and Martel, joining together for some reason, Tehran became curious. The god hadn't bothered to enter the material plane since spawning there, but seeing the other two meet and greet gave Tehran a reason to enter on its own instead of simply observing and interacting with its reflections.

    If a mortal were to hear Tehran's words, and they had the ability to stretch their imagination nearly to the point of insanity, then they would hear the god's voice. Otherwise, it sounded like bubbles of boiling tar popping in various pitches and speeds. Noctelax? I am grateful to your flavorment of individual souls. Those you have lost, I have gained. You are welcome to enter Hevvin and meet with them once more if you are so interested. However, you may find them indistinguishable from those not of your making, as I have so seen necessary to my objectives. But they remember you, and now also so do those mortals who you have never met. I would enjoy becoming part of this new alliance you are forging.

    Most mortals, hearing Tehran's voice, would consider it nothing more than mere hallucinated whispers that came and went with the wind. Martel? I have set it as my desire to acquire the dead of every god's creations, though I have obtained none of your creations in body or mind. This intrigues me, and escapes the understanding of my followers. Some knew of your people, and though this knowledge spread throughout Hevvin's residents, the information is mostly lacking. I wish to join your alliance.

    A thought occurred to Tehran.
    "Every occupant of Hevvin is considered a denizen and resident immediately upon entering. This effect is retroactive."

    The entwinement of Consensus had reached a boiling point, and its own chaotic nature had become annoying enough to many members. Freedom was desired, necessary, and enjoyed, however some souls were unable to advance beyond a certain stage, and that advancement should become a cohesive system.
    So far, only the highest and lowest castes were considered, though more thought would have to go into detailing them.

    Default Re: Lords of Creation (LOC): The Light and Darkness (IC)

    Somewhere in the Plains of Nilbog, a band of Hyren camped, tending to their wounded and burning the dead - their own, and those they had meant to minister to. Their mission to the Goblins had gone poorly; Nilbog's spawn had not been receptive to their message of peace and equality, seeing instead only weak beings to prey on. Most had escaped, once they realised the Hyren in fact had strength to spare despite their message of peace - yet now they were outnumbered, in hostile territory, and could not flee home without abandoning their kin to die. The elder who had led the mission, Chaya, had initially hoped to redeploy to other goblin tribes, to teach them of the truth of Celica Pax. Yet the wounds of her charges refused to heal, and as the camp remained in place, more Hyren from other failed missions arrived, bringing their wounded to be tended to, their mouths to be fed, their hunters and warriors to help defend. Worse, the Goblins kept returning to raid the camp, and while they often failed to get anything due to the improving defences, it cemented an attitude of hostility that made the mission practically impossible.

    Yet it was not goblin attacks, but nuckelavee attacks that truly wore down at Chaya's faith. Why did these nuckelavee, these gifts made by Pax, not obey the doctrine of Pax, she wondered - and then realised. What beast of any kind had ever held to the doctrine of Celica Pax? Whoever heard of a lion taking only what it needed, instead of everything it cared to and more? Where could there be found a single pack of wolves that only tore down what it needed, that chose targets based on what the prey herds could afford to lose instead of what was easy to catch? Indeed, what kind of loving deity would simply dismiss the murder of prey animals for food as a necessary evil, when they could have made an ecosystem free of predators? This god who purported to love all life had created entire species to be slaves to his favoured Hyren children, then turned around and told them to love peace and value all life. Following that doctrine had now got nearly a hundred Hyren killed in the Plains of Nilbog alone, and hundreds more wounded. Continuing to follow that doctrine would have required not fortifying the camp, not actively preparing for a fight - would have required leaving the wounded to die, when not if the Goblins came again.

    The lesson was clear. The way of nature was not peace, but strife and dominion. Over the years that the camp had been in place, a number of banners had risen, variations of the horn and vine. Chaya had them all struck, after a speech explaining that as Celica Pax had abandoned them, so they should not call themselves servants of Pax. As strength was the law of the natural world that Pax had created, so they should become the world's strongest before drawing their god's notice again. Some objected to the change, saying that they ought to hold out a little longer, saying that Pax's mercy was limitless. Faced with the bald truth that Pax's own creations had slaughtered Hyren, faced with the simple fact of how difficult and painful the mission had been, faced with how many had died and the screams and suffering of the wounded, most of these objections fell silent - either seeing things Chaya's way, or dreading to speak their minds. Those few who still objected found knives in their backs, and their corpses were set up upon a stage, a show of cruelty, a show of strength, a warning to those who would weaken the new tribe with divisions. The Domination would bring peace to the goblin tribes, whether through words or through blades.

    A new, crude flag rose up to symbolise the change of doctrine, a stylised Hyren, its wings outspread, its black tabard represented by a black scrawl across its chest. These black tabards were worn only by the Black Wings, who served a role analogous to priests in the old Hyren Tribes, as preachers and exemplars of the Domination's ideals. Their power structure ultimately answered to Praetor Chaya, bypassing the traditional bonds of family and clan to form the basis of an army.

    Over the coming years, the Domination migrated through the Plains of Nilbog, striking wherever they saw weakness, slaughtering those who resisted, enslaving those who did not, stealing everything they could carry and burning everything they could not. Orcs made surprisingly compliant serfs, once properly broken - once taught that despite their musculature, the disciplined warriors of the Domination were stronger than them. Goblins were less useful by far, requiring constant oversight to not wriggle away, too weak for any menial labour, too deranged and devious to be trusted as scribes.

    Meanwhile, as Ser Vace left the lands of Dwarves for his endless crusade, the Dwarves descended into civil war - many Dwarves resented having to be supporters for the destructive and dangerous crusade of the Drawves, and broke away from the Council to form their own Kingdom. The fires of Divination were not decisive here - apparently, Objective Good did not consider it Evil to be weary of war and interested in making a place of order and compassion, and few if any Dwarves on either side relished having to slay their kin. Fearful that members of their own side, the Kingdom established an Inquisition, which would root out corruption and treason within their own ranks and enforce the law within the land.

    The Kingdom flew a dragon banner, with its scales represented by a strange black scrawl - the same black scrawl used by the Domination in the faraway Plains of Nilbog...

    Martel was startled somewhat by the appearance of the third creator, or he assumed it was a creator. It appeared to be one but there wasn't even a hint of order to it. The gears throughout him began to rapidly turn as he eyelessly stared at the creature trying to comprehend it to apply some kind of order to it. He heard words of some kind coming from it he assumed? He heard it speak his name, and of the dead, and of a curiosity in his children.

    His gears clicked and turned throughout his form as he tried to comprehend the creature.

    Swinging her spear around and knocking one of the opponents that were surrounding her into a wall several yards away with the but Corvus laughs loudly as her larger body makes moving so easily. Ever since she had been remade into an animal fairy she had been sparing to get a better sense of this body. Dodging a spear thrust at her and sliding down it she elbows the user and with a sharp thrust towards the last of the original 5 people she holds her spear point against his throat and with a grin she pulls it back. Walking over to the edge of the sparing circle and setting the spear against a rack Covur turns back to the circle she can see that the two who were still able to move easily were helping the others get up.

    Turning away and moving to a trough Covur splashes water on her face, using a towel to wipe it off before it freezes she nods towards one of the smaller brethren who used their ability to whisk the ice that forms on her skin away. Turning and walking into the lower section of the castle that had been formed even before their races birth, moving through the labyrinth of rooms and hallways till she enters a room close to the center of the castle. Walking over to one of the tables that were filled with trinkets and little things the animal fairy turns to the snow fairy who was sitting on the table and nods to him, leaning against the table herself and saying towards the man.
    "You know its a good idea."

    Sighing the man nods, looking at the other side of the room without actually looking, saying.
    "I know, which is why im not fighting you right now."

    Looking down at the snow fairy she opens her mouth to say something snarky when the sudden tension in his manor makes her jerk up and look around. Her eyes wide as from nothing Nudar steps into the room holding something in his arms. Walking over and holding a gryphon pup out from the scruff of its neck he looks at Covur and smiles slightly.

    "Here Covur, raise it well"

    Taking the pup and looking up at Nudar with wide eyes the animal elf looks down at the pup in her arms and smiles wide as it opens its eyes and a connection is formed in that instant. Nudar looks over towards the snow fairy and smiles.
    "Hello Uriel."

    Uriel nods and bows, standing again he looks up at his god with some hesitation in his eyes. His hand going to his belt and touching the single soul gem on it. A similar belt on Covur's showing almost a dozen of them. Looking between them Nudar scratches along his jaw for a second before reaching out and scratching the head of the gryphon. Turning around and heading for the wall he looks over his shoulder and grins.
    "I am about to make this place a lot more fun."

    Covur laughs softly and Uriel shakes his head as he takes to his wings before saluting his god and zooming out of the room.

    The Umbra was an obvious and divisive sign of those corrupted by Tavteth, an unquestionable literal beacon that here lay a wielder of supernatural evil - Domination ideology might be obviously evil, but that could be glossed over when it wasn't being shoved in one's face. As such, the Luz quickly purged and rejected those who wielded the Umbra openly, driving them to the outskirts, to the shadows. To form societies of their own united by cruelty and malice. Many of these had the idea of mockingly naming themselves "the Nox", since they were refused by the glowing sun and their power made them most efficient at night. They stole ships, and sailed away from Aetheria, towards the surrounding isles and beyond, looking for new places to conquer, new vistas to despoil, new people to victimise.

    The last of these they found only near the end of their journeys, as they found a land of ice and snow hardly fit for habitation - yet found it inhabited nonetheless, by a kind of strange sorcerous creatures far better adapted than they ever would be. All of these creatures had the proportions and shape of Luz, yet they were all smaller than Luz, and able to fly on wings that seemed too small and delicate to support even their frail frames. Some were the size of Luz children, and had a bond with their beasts so impressive that it could only be sorcerous; some were as tiny as Luz toddlers, and had terrible powers over their icy surroundings. The Nox were most impressed with how these beings seemed not only alive, but comfortable without multiple layers of thick cloaks.

    ~~~
    The use of vampirism had only really been popular among particularly power-hungry Revenants - the main temptation of it compared to ghouldom or life draining or becoming a Mummy was the raw power it granted, especially once it became known that users of the art became addicted and unable to maintain low dosages.
    None had the precise divinations, nor had performed the biopsies that would be needed to determine why this was. Underneath it all, those who drank blood to retain their unlife were literally damaging their spirits, heating and deforming them with every use of the spell, stripping tiny pieces to convert blood into a substance rich with magical power. After enough applications of this, the spirit became more akin to a liquid than a solid - able to be split into arbitrarily small pieces, residing in the blood of whoever went far enough. For once the soul was fully liquefied, it came to inhabit all blood it could find, turning it into the substance created by "normal" vampirism. As the logical conclusion of vampirism, these new beings called themselves Vampires, and proudly continued their previous practices.
    They found that all blood they consumed was converted, becoming a part of their soul. They found that their consciousness could travel the world instantly, hopping between the perspectives of any person who had drunk of their own tainted blood, seeing what they saw, hearing what they heard, even sending them messages - though not magically binding commands, unless they knew other magic to make their commands in general magically binding. Any living being that drank vampire blood found the same process of addiction covering them, as if they had resorted to the craft of vampirism; their own souls slowly became liquefied with each mouthful they swallowed, and they became addicted as if they were revenants resorting to vampirism. Living bodies were not meant to contain liquid souls; once a mortal's soul had melted completely, they would fall ill, passing away as the sun reached its height - and rising up at sunset, not as a revenant, but as a vampire.
    This defilement of the soul had one final boon for those who were absolutely terrified of oblivion - if their body were to die, their will and being would remain, able to switch between any bodies it could have reached before, bound so long as even one such body remained. Thus, they could persist for a little while even beyond their final death, and delay the fate set out for them by the laws of Hevvin.
    A vampire can transfer their consciousness freely between their own body and any living or undead body which has drunk their blood. By default, though, they only get sense data, not thoughts; they can send messages to their host, but not compel them to action.
    A vampire is not truly dead until not only their body dies, but all the bodies of all the people who drank their blood while they were animate. Thus their soul does not pass on until this happens.
    For "blood" in all of the above you may substitute any vital fluid which is part of a being's anatomy. Wu vampires could drink sap and feed people sap for example.
    Consensus was a wonderful and blossoming creation, but it needed work. As a formless and tier-based hivemind, it was and would continue to become more perfect.
    Consensus resided within the mixed and melted remains of the coalesced deceased created by materializing reflections from the mundus, but that was a mouthful and obnoxious to continually say, even to Itself.
    Tehran had been waiting for Consensus to create something of their own; it wanted to make sure that they were able to power a creation that had taken a very long time to generate the energy for. That time had finally come! The societal creation was formed and the energy was generated.
    But a new Law was devised, and was put into place first. It would make this easier. All races originating from Hevvin, in perpetuity and retroactively, shall instantly become visible. Such appears as translucent and incorporeal manifestations only; unable to interact with or be interacted by anything. As the creations of such beings are finalized, the biomatter entering Hevvin will be used to 'fill in' the apparitions, legitimizing them.
    With that put into place, Tehran pointed mentally at the melted and merged biomatter that had just been mentioned. It shall henceforth be referred to as Reborn. It thus far bore no life forms that could be identified as individual except through the Law of Future Ghosts, but it was a life form on its own as of now.
    Every sub-creation of it would retain the abilities granted to it as it was; but would gain additional abilities depending on various things that could be stated later. The greatest asset of this form of life was that it could and would change itself and grow better suited to anything it encountered in any way, automatically.
    Biomass delivered unto Hevvin no longer decays or rots, and if the process already began, it ceases.
    Unclaimed souls of those who have been dead no less than six months automatically transfer through reflections on the material plane, to Hevvin. Unless they're undead and then nevermind. Souls in Hevvin begin the process of merging with one another, in an attempt to make powerful souls more obvious, while also strengthening them. The training/battleground for this process will make use of the biomass already littering Garden. All claimed souls would benefit from this process due to spiritual symbiosis and evolution.
    Once a soul has entered Hevvin, it is thereafter considered claimed by, and loyal to, The Overseer of Self-Discipline.
    Once something is a denizen of Hevvin, in body or soul, it will thereafter always return there, without the wait time granted to all other forms of life.
    The Domination's efforts to simply hold the land they had claimed ran into difficulties - the Goblins had access to strange blasting devices, which would knock down the sturdiest wall from a far safer distance than any battering ram and kill or wound a whole squad if they came close enough. They could not dominate without any idea of how this worked, and so started a more conscious effort to investigate the world's phenomena. Their new order of Philosophers started by interrogating goblins, which proved shockingly easy but gave little technical information - "we set fire to the booze and it blows up" was not the level of detail one could make a weapons system with.
    The Dwarven Kingdom, meanwhile, found itself rapidly manufacturing axes and breastplates for the civil war, and as a result needed disproportionately many smiths - to the point that smiths could not be required to be part of a given fiefdom's levies. The blacksmiths knew how badly their services were needed, and organised for mutual protection, certain that any unscrupulous noble would otherwise wrongly exploit them. Or indeed, whoever came to succeed King Hydrek when, not if, he passed on from the world.
    Martel
    Martel was rather shocked and confused when he suddenly found himself ejected from the world he had come to love and create upon back into the plane of light. He was rather angry at the suddenness of it. Rather angry that it had happened at all. There was nothing bit light here, he had been fine with light before but now he knew more than light and he wanted back. He wanted back to where he had found. He wanted those of his flesh again. He wanted to see the dark of the night and the way the light of day reflected through his creations. He wanted to see the creatures of the others again.
    Time passed in the white void for Martel as he looked for a way out as he had once found. None was found and as he considered things he eventually realized the source of his expulsion. His time on the planet had changed him. The Light of him had grown and changed somehow in some way. His time beyond the Light had caused the place beyond it to reject him but there would be a way back. He would find one.
    He began again as he once had. His body as it was, was incapable of walking beyond the light, to house him in the land he desired to return to. He needed a new body, one capable of housing him. He required a vessel for his soul. New flesh. New mechanisms. The forge- the hand he had built for himself on the world would be both the first piece and his method of construction. Superior to his old one. Grand and wonderful ideas flowed through his head as he constructed his new body.
    Not all of his ideas were ones he would be able to act on of course. Alot of them would take time, longer than he was willing to wait to see his children again. Once he had returned, made sure of the safety of his creations he would act on more of his grand ideas and continue. Until then though... What he was building. It would be enough.
    His body was beautiful, his new body would be marvellous.
    The sudden disappearance of their creator left the Martellians confused even more so than when he had left them to begin to explore the lands beyond the glass. The light seemed less bright, the dark seemed darker, and the colours felt as if they had greyed. They were lost.
    In time they turned back to the lands beyond, they looked beyond those they had learned of and began looking further. They would find their creator if their creator did not find them. Their arts turned practical as they looked further and further. Their small magics were adjusted to serve the cause, their methods advanced, and eventually supplemented with the magics of other lands and creators. They found other peoples, strange peoples. They learned of their ways and spread them to their own. Beyond their lands of order and peace... they learned of chaos and eventually war. And as their cartographers returned to teach of the practices and habits of these strange chaotic peoples there came fear.
    Where was Martel?
    An earlier time and place...
    As the chaos of the creature infront of him continued to stare at him and he continued to stare at it trying to decipher it, words finally came to Martel. "You wish to be of this alliance? Are you like us?"
    The lack of any recognizable order to the creature flummoxed Martel and he found even his understanding of it's words to be in doubt.
    Finally receiving a response from the god of living glass, Tehran responded. Tehran's voice had no sound to potential listening mortals this time. Instead it would have been perceived as an emotion or feeling. The feeling of hearing slightly-off childish giggling, only to be discovered it came from an empty room in a long-abandoned building.
    "Am I like you...? Hmm. I am a god too. Yes. You forge new life. Yes I am like you. The life you make is made of you; the life I make is made of the discarded and forgotten. No, I am not like you. The life you make is bound to you; the life I make is bound to my plane. No, I am not like you. You are passive and secluded. Yes, I am like you. You have maintained your concentration in your craft and ignored all else. No, I am not like you. Choose for yourself what this means to you.
    I care mostly for the untainted continuation of my creations and plans. My own freedom and the freedom of all others is my outlook. Well, okay, not all others, but all others who deserve it."
    After finishing its speech, the God of Reincarnation saw Martel... not exist anymore. His followers seemed to enter a chaotic state looking for him too. Well, that's fine. Tehran returned to Hevvin. Maybe it could be contacted by the god he was talking to later on.
    ...
    ...
    A few things had to change. The Laws of Hevvin were messy, and a severe edit was required. The semantics were just... clumsy. So Tehran coalesced his thought scroll on the subject and made a few needed edits and additions.
    Spoiler: Laws of Hevvin update
    Show
    Law of Names: Each Law of Hevvin now bears a name for ease of reference.
    Law of Line-Item Veto: Any Law can be set as inactive at any given Reborn Hive; decided upon initial generation.
    Law of Vacation: Any and all Laws and/or environmental affects of any/all types found anywhere/everywhere in Hevvin can exist wherever a Reborn Hive can be found.
    Law of Acquirement: Reflections on the material plane measuring no less than one square foot for inanimate surfaces made of any shiny or reflective material, and reflections in the eyes of living things at a size of 0.1 millimeter or more act as doorways to Hevvin. Dead matter within visual range of such surfaces have their reflections taken, counting as legitimate biomass once it enters Hevvin.
    Law of the Pause Button: Biomass delivered unto Hevvin no longer decays or rots, and if the process already began, it ceases.
    Law of Salvation: Unclaimed souls of those who have been dead no less than six months automatically transfer through reflections on the material plane, to Hevvin. Unless they're undead and then nevermind. Souls in Hevvin begin the process of merging with one another, in an attempt to make powerful souls more obvious, while also strengthening them. The training/battleground for this process is what forms the basis for the Reborn and Consensus. All claimed souls would benefit from this process due to spiritual symbiosis and evolution.
    Law of Instant Population Growth: Once a soul enters Hevvin, it is thereafter considered claimed by, and loyal to, The Overseer of Self-Discipline. Those who die within Hevvin's boundaries are not excepted.
    Law of Reborn Protection: Reborn placed or entering anywhere other than Hevvin leave behind their physical forms and it is their reflections which enter other planes, which count as legitimate physical manifestations; they are then granted reflections of their own. Hevvin-dwelling Reborn without a Consensus host randomly follow a 15%, 74%, 11% ratio of going feral, melting back into basic Reborn, or fragmenting into multiple Future Ghosts and discarding their physical remains to rejoin the basic Reborn ground-cover.
    Law of Bypass: Once something is a denizen of Hevvin, in body or soul, it will thereafter always return there upon death, without the wait time granted to all other forms of life. Souls claimed by other gods within the same pantheon as Tehran are exceptions.
    Law of Irresponsible Population: Every occupant of Hevvin is considered a denizen and resident immediately upon entering. This effect is retroactive.
    Law of Future Ghosts: All races originating from Hevvin, in perpetuity and retroactively, shall instantly become visible. Such appears as translucent and incorporeal manifestations only; unable to interact with or be interacted by anything. As the creations of such beings are finalized, the biomatter entering Hevvin (or already present) will be used to 'fill in' the apparitions, legitimizing them.
    Tehran needed to create something new, something to help to legitimize the various races all over Hevvin. It should be called the Overmind, and would look similar to how Tehran itself looked. A giant eye that would attach itself to the Reborn, aiding in the formation and spawning of Reborn. But instead of tentacles or lack of them; it would have what looked like exposed ocular musclature behaving similar to a spider's webbing; seemingly binding it to the nearby adjacent mountainsides.
    Luckily, the Consensus had created something of its own; a new caste. Reserved only for those who were violent but not due to mistreatment or psychosis, who could not advance beyond mindless combat. Many goblins and territorial animals fit this; and even through reincarnation and symbiosis with superior minds they still didn't advance. This caste was called Doormat; fit only to incarnate as Reborn Swarmlings.
    Spoiler: Actions
    Show
    Start 3+4 = 7 AP
    mAP 0+1
    pAP 1
    Create Organization: Doormat (1 mAP - 1 mAP)
    Souls otherwise considered worthless and unable to advance beyond their current mindset, no matter the circumstances and aid given to them. Mostly populated by low intelligence monsters, goblins, evil individuals, and over-territorial animals.
    Create Major Artifact: Overmind (5 AP - 1 pAP = 7 AP - 4 AP = 3 AP)
    Decreases costs of creating new Reborn races. Looks like a giant eye; acts to allow Tehran overseer access to the Consensus as well as thought filter from anything less than Hierarchs.
    Create Monstrous Life: Reborn Swarmling (1 AP - Overmind = 3 AP - 0 AP)
    Wolf-sized creatures that attack best in large groups. Saber-toothed, razor-clawed, spring-footed, and plated in thick chitin. Feral, uncontrollable, and ravenous towards everything except other Reborn unless within 2.5 miles of a living Hierarch.
    Create Advanced Concept: Reborn Hive (3 AP - 2 AP = 1 AP)
    A Reborn Hierarch can begin to generate a hive that spreads a duplication of the type of Reborn ground-cover that Hierarch originated from. All hives appear the same unless the Hierarch in control of it uses its own abilities to change that fact. The center always looks like a gargantuan pyramid-like fortress made of exposed organ and sinew, surrounded with chitinous plated curved pillars resembling spiked and armored tentacles.
    -------------------------------------
    As Nudar sits and rests upon the ice within the eye of his perpetual storm, nothing in the air should move, and nothing new should be able to appear. But a black fog quickly began to form and coalesce into a cloud so dark green that it might as well be black. Tentacles with no base in which to form from came from the cloud and began to flail without reason or rhythm. What appeared to be bubbles formed and faded, popped, and boiled. Some of them notably had irises. They were eyes.
    To a mortal witnessing the voice that came from within the cloud, it would have sounded like bamboo wind chimes and an avalanche of stone; but bearing with it an overwhelming dizziness that made the eardrums pop as though from altitude.
    "Nudar. I am Tehran, and I watched you for a time, from my own plane of Hevvin. I rarely come to the Materium, but I also wish to interact with you, as do my children."
    A ray of light akin to a sunbeam from breaking stormclouds came from within Tehran's cloud, and where the light hit the ice, a creature appeared, but it didn't speak.
    "I am part of a group of other gods who mostly enjoy minding their own business and enhancing their own creations. Your behavior shows that you are compatible with us. Would you like to enter into our pantheon?"
    -------------------------------
    Turning his head slowly and looking towards the cloud and new creature who had been summoned Nudar blinks, somehow. His purple eyes going out for a second before coming back, roaming between the two back and forth before turning towards them. Still sitting on the ice boulder and considering them the skeleton god leans against his knee that was raised because of a boot on the ice he says slowly.
    "Joining you just because? While it is true I want to give my children some rivals to test themselves on why should I join a group of other gods to do so?"
    -------------------------------
    Tehran tells Nudar the various benefits he would gain personally if he agreed.
    "As for your children- my children would benefit by being killed by yours. Death means nothing to them; it only ejects them back to their previous position in Hevvin. But they are meant to find the most severe environments they can in which to evolve. Your people are combat-hungry, and as long as Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third here remains alive, I will allow my Reborn to continue to live passively within your ice storm, concentrating only on rebuilding, respawning, and attempting to become immune to the cold.
    Your children would gain the benefit of extreme combat training, attempting to use their offense to counter my Reborn's own abilities I already named."
    -------------------------------
    Looking to the side and considering the benefits Nudar breaks off some ice from the boulder he is sitting on and flicks it at the creature. Watching it impact its shoulder and send it spinning away but not damaged he grunts softly. Turning back to the other god and thinking for another few seconds he slowly nods.
    "Yes... I think that would be a benefit. If nothing else it would let my oh so bloodthirsty children to get it out of their system just a little and maybe even learn a few things. Fine, ill join you and your merry band. But I wont be in the front line and anyone trying to force me to do something will get attacked right after I leave. If that is good enough for you than we have a deal."
    -------------------------------
    "More than adequate. You'll find that the Princess here- she can be henceforth called Dot, by the way... no, actually Purple suits what she will be doing much better. Purple was one of your own snow fairies who died, and her soul was directed by me into a specified reincarnation cycle. I thought it best for this first interaction with the Fairies to be with one who bore their own skills and cultural knowledge."
    -------------------------------
    Blinking again and cutting his eyes over to the waiting creature Nudar narrows them as he studies her. Saying slowly.
    "Ah, I can tell. The shape of the soul is very similar. She must have been an early kill, almost all deaths are turned into soul gems now."
    Turning his eyes back to the other thing the skeleton god tilts his head slightly.
    "If you send weak things they will look down on them. Even if this thing was once a snow fairy things have changed."
    -------------------------------
    "I was holding myself back, but I have disgraced you. Hevvin's environment and Laws are meant to destroy the body of every living thing, and melt and congeal the bodies. Souls immediately strengthen and increase the population of the Reborn Consensus. Should I allow the Reborn's natural ground-cover form to bring with it this danger, or is that too much for your Fairies to handle?"
    -------------------------------
    Tilting his head and thinking it over Nudar looks off into the distance as what was said is mulled over. Changing his mind and looking around where they are he says slowly.
    "Go ahead and let your own area through, though I would ask you do it inside the storm rather than inside the eye. If they are unable to at least fight something of that level than they deserve to die and become the stepping stones for stronger warriors."
    Reaching out and closing his hand around the thin air Nudar pulls and Uriel comes from the air, pulled from his place in the fortress in the distance. Ignoring the yell of surprise and setting him down on the boulder Nudar says down to him.
    "I believe I found a way for you to practice extreme war arts without fighting yourself."
    As the foot tall fairy look over at the other two figures with narrowed eyes and obvious distrust he bows to his god and says in a half respectful tone.
    "If you say they are good enough than we will match them... and destroy them."
    Smiling to himself Nudar points at the other creature who was still silent.
    "That is the soul of the first warden, they died in the storm because of a mistake I believe so there was no way for you all to collect the soul. If nothing else, a grandchild of mine should give you the proper challenge."
    Uriel looks at the other creature with a mix of amazement and a little disgust at the form it takes, his race pride swelling inside him wanting to believe they are the best. Pushing it back down and bowing again the fairy king says in a surprisingly even tone.
    "If you wish it my god, than we will fight."
    Nodding Nudar points at the creature a short distance away.
    "When they attack, and it will be a semi friendly type of attack."
    Here Nudar looks at the other god and includes him in what he says.
    "They wont enter the fortress, but up to the doors is perfectly all right. Kill everything but that thing, shred them smash them, whatever you want. Yes?"
    Nodding again and turning back to the creature Uriel lifts a hand and pulls ice and snow from around him to form a foot tall statue of the creature in front of him, setting it next to him.
    "We will listen."
    -------------------------------
    "We are agreed."
    Tehran disappeared, returned to Hevvin. Purple, on the other hand, turned and started to walk away on her six thick arachnid-like legs, and disappeared into the distance to burrow into the snow below the deadly shards of ice, and began to generate a Reborn hive.
