Not sure how he could be. They definitely were cloned by Ben Franklin's clone, Ben Franklin's clone definitely did live to a ripe old age before being murdered by ninjas (with no sign of clone degeneration in sight) and it definitely would be stupid for him to use inferior technology in his experiments.

It was a good point from the doctor, the clones had to last for several years on their own doing god knows what, it really would make sense they had been made by the highest quality Ben had available.

What, you don't call a clone that's able to be murdered by ninjas a defective one?

In my day, we had standards.

They might not be of the same quality as the Ben clone due to the whole huge amount of them thing, quantity and quality and all that.

And more importantly, the whole "merging back together as one and fuse all experience gained by every one of them" might require to use an extremely different cloning technology. I can't help but think that whole "inferior" stick is a weak argument.

Well.. Old has lasted fine for some 10 years though, lasting though several tough fights and clearly not being any less duable than the real doctor.
I do think its a bit of a stretch that Old suddenly would start falling apart after that time had passed. It certainly sounds like it would be more work to arrange that, than it would to make sure he were a perfect copy of the Original.

Could it be that the universe turning on the Doctor means that his clone develops a 1 in 1,000,000 case of degenerative clone disease?

Then again, isn't Doc a, well, doctor? Old could have just gone to him and gotten any disease cured.

This was funny. He starts freaking out over something that never happened. Like after hearing of Malaria carrying flies, and then starting to write your will after stepping on a sharp branch.

I mean he is a farmer not a doctor after all!

Yeah Doc, it would probably be a wiser decision to find a bypass, or at least make your own door.

If Rad really wants to hurt Doc, he should be focused on destroying Doc's self-perception as a hero. Bring in family of the Doctor's victims, like the family of that guard he randomly murdered.

Did the wizards create a massive pocket dimension, route the maze through existing ones, or just setup an impressive illusion? Regardless, King Radical is wasting some pretty radical potential just for revenge.

I dunno. Hastings is certainly very unpredictable and good at subverting expectations...but he does usually follow story structure. It doesn't make a lot of sense for Dan to reappear so quickly.

The entrance marked "The Boy" lead to a door that led to the President, so Dan assumed that the entrance labeled "The President" leads to a door that leads to Gordito. Dan is making a several questionable assumptions.

Actually the door marked "The Boy" led to what appears to be an unresolved trap

Apparently that wasn't a trap. Based on what Dan said, there was a portal there that took them outside to where the President was.

Or it was a trap, and this is also a trap. Dan also said Martin bolted when they got outside, but that is basically a contradiction to what we saw in their last comic.

It certainly looked like a trap with that iron door slamming shut behind them.
And Martin suddenly bolting does sound a little strange, he has generally been rather helpful. That this is a trap do sound more likely than him quitting in the middle of everything.

And Doc and Old looked right at Martin on the previous page so there should have been no way for them to believe what Dan said, nor was it reasonable for Dan to expect them to believe it. And several other things that Dan said earlier didn't make much sense. I'm not sure why Doc and Old were playing along.

Well, they look very sad, so apparently they were very much forced into this. Perhaps Smoke Puncher was taken as a hostage.

Maybe the bad lie about Martin was intended to warn Doc that something was wrong? To me, it's unbelievable that Doc would have fallen for it, but maybe we are supposed to believe that he did? I don't know what we are supposed to think.
