    Default [Base Class] Priest

Okay, we've all seen ClericZilla bust out with everything a Fighter can do, only everything else a Cleric can do as well. This is my attempt at balancing him out a little, based on WoW priests. Remove Divine Favor, Divine Strength, and Righteous Might from the spell lists, otherwise, casting like a Cleric

    Weapon and Armor Proficencies:
The Priest is proficent in all simple weapon proficencies but no armor proficencies or shields. Priests with the War domain get one free proficency in the diety's favored weapon.
    Aura (Ex)
A priest has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the deity’s alignment (see the detect evil spell for details). Priests who don’t worship a specific deity have a similarly powerful aura of their own alignment.
    Spells:
As per Cleric, although remove the following spells: Divine Favor, Divine Power, and Righteous Might. They also get two Domains as per a Cleric, although they cannot take any domain with any of the above prohibited spells. They may spontaniously cast any Cure OR Inflict spell, reguardless of alignment.
    Turn Undead
A Priest will either Turn Undead just like a cleric of a Good alignment of the same level reguardless of his alignment.
Bonus Feat At 1st level, a Priest gains a bonus feat. This must be either a Divine feat (including all Turning feats from the SRD) or a Metamagic feat. He gains another bonus feat at 5th and every five levels thereafter.
Inspired Metamagic A Priest does not spend extra time casting a Metamagic spell which is cast Spontaniously as a Priest.
Spontanious Domain At 13th level, a Priest chooses one of his Domains. He may now spontaniously cast from that domain. At 18th level, he spontaniously casts from both domains he started out with as a Priest.
Enhanced Metamagic At 11th level, the Priest may reduce the total number of additional spell levels a spell gains from the use of metamagic feats by one, but cannot reduce the number of additional spell levels below zero. Thus a Still and Silent Hold Person would be a 3rd level spell, but an Energy Substitution (Acid) Sound Burst would only be a 2nd level spell, since it cannot be reduced below it's original spell level. At 16th level, he may Empower Cure and Inflict spells for free, if he has the feat. At 20th, he reduces the total of additional spell levels a spell gains from the use of metamagic feats by two, but cannot reduce the number of additional spell levels below zero, and also gains the ability to Maximize Cure and Inflict spells for free, if he has the feat.

Questions? Comments? I specifically didn't give him any of the really nifty abilities until AFTER 10th level to discourage PrCing

I applaud the attempts to minimise the clericzilla tactics, but you have unwittingly made it easier for other forms of Divine Metacheese to be employed. Any priest with the Planning domain could start play with Divine Metamagic (Persistent). This allows them to make any of their buff spells last all day where they used to be rounds/level, at no extra spell slot cost (uses 6 turning attempts). The metamagic improvements need a rethink, but at least without heavy armor the priest will persistent buff the tank, not himself.

Fine. This requires him to blow three feats too, and I really have no problem with the cleric Persist-Buffing the tank. This makes the tank useful, rather than replacing the tank. Good. Besides, you can ONLY persist PERSONAL effects, which means he can't, in point of fact, persist buffs on the tank.

My bad. In that light, I like it. It helps that the healer now does not have more hit points and better AC than a ranger of the same level. And the name of one of the spells you want to bar them from is "Divine Power".
Oh, and you can persist fixed-range emanations, like Bless or Prayer, which buff the entire party, but not that efficiently. Certainly not worth 6 turn attempts.

    Ahh, yes... thanks.

And really, I have no problem with them persisting the fixed-range emenations. They'e generally not game-breaking like Divine Power and Righteous Might...

    Just one question:
OLV? Dunno what that means.. Could be something important.
Other than that: I like it a lot. Perhaps scratch some offensive spells, or make them domain-only, like linking fire spells to fire and destruction domain priests only, but that just complicates things, although it does reduce it's power slightly..

Me likey verry much! Yay for an end to clericzilla!

Although I must say I rather enjoyed the inspiration system in WoW d20.

Where did you find OLV? If it is in there, it's probably a typo or something.

And really, I have no problem with leaving the remainder of the spell list as-is. World of Warcraft was my inspiration for this class, and I have no problem with a Priest being able to blast, although not as effectively as a Wizard or Sorcerer could. Blasting is generally considered less effective anyways.

Glah, I forgot to put in the bonus feat at 10th level. Text said at 1st, 5th, and every five levels thereafter, I just forgot to put it in the table.

No one has any other questions, comments, compliments, or criticisms?
