Silly Plots 2: Electric Boogaloo

[Recaiden]

No answer is immediately forthcoming. But the orb spins and shrinks faster and faster before evaporating with a 'pop' and dumping all sorts of things over the floor. Ice, snow, rocks, plants, a tiny waterfall that soon stops flowing, a treasure chest, some ropes and beams, and one confused cyborg pirate catgirl.

Clara's Flat

Clara blinks, but she'd rather have this stuff than an unstable death-balloon in her house.
"Hey, uh, are you okay?" she asks the cat, really unsure of what's going on.

[Recaiden]

"Woah." She says, blinking. Winking? What's the term when you have one ever-staring robot eye, but open and shut the other one to clear dust away?
"I guess so? I think I was trapped in there - what's the date today?"
She picks up one of the volcanic rocks and turns it over.

Clara's Flat

Clara tells her the current date on the Nexus calendar.
"So uh, who are you and why did a death-ball spit you out in my house?" she asks, trying to be polite about it

[Recaiden]

"And my familiar agrees. So we didn't get lost in time, and it's really just been a few weeks!"
Dropping the rock, she gets to her feet, metal-striped tail swishing back and forth.
"I am -" A brief pause "the Dread Pirate Omiko. As for why your house, idk. It's magic."
"Who are you?"

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Flat

"My name's Clara. I'm an actress. Uh, who's your familiar?" she asks, looking around. She doesn't see any tiny animals walking around. "Wait, familiar? Are you a witch or something?" she asks.

[Recaiden]

"Oh, cool. What were you in?"
Omiko holds out a hand, palm up.
"Dot. Only I can see him, silly. Unless he wants you to." And maybe not even then.

"I'm a lot of things. Did you need a witch? Hide your heart away? Learn your fortune? Build a gingerbread house?"

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Flat

"Uh, Showdown at Horn Rock, The Flying Fox, Wagner...I don't think I need a witch, though I'm always open to free offers." she says with a smile.

[Recaiden]

"'Showdown at Horn Rock' was good."

The witch-pirate smiles thoughtfully.
"No, I don't really do 'free'. How about 'you help me find my ship' and I'll see what I can do for you? I'll even throw in 'not turning you into a newt'."

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Flat

"Oh, you saw it? I was the minotaur with the six-shooters. It was a-" she stops, staring at the cat.
"You wouldn't really do that, would you?" she asks quietly.

[Recaiden]

Omiko considers for a moment.
"It's traditional."
"But I don't really care about that. So it wouldn't be a newt, per se."

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Flat

Clara gulps.
"I can lend you my computer to get info? I don't have any starting point so I don't know how useful I'd be finding your ship." she says, trying to reason with the cat.

[Recaiden]

"Girl, do I look like someone who doesn't have a computer?"
That's probably a rhetorical question, actually.

"Let's go."

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Flat

Clara panics, backing up and grabbing her jacket off the wall...and also her rapier. She doesn't seem like she's planning on using it on Omiko, just sort of clutching it.
"I mean...if you have one why don't you just call your crew? What do you even need me for?"

[Recaiden]

"Doesn't seem like they've got phone service right now." The sea is a vast and unpredictable place.

Omiko grins and holds out a hand.

"It'll be fun."

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Flat

Clara grimaces.
"Well, I guess it's better than you stabbing me or giving me a tail. Gods know I'm sick to death of that happening. I still don't know why you need me. I'm useless to you as myself." she says, gingerly giving the cat her hand.

[Recaiden]

"Oh? Maybe you'll have to be something else. Gotta work on that self-esteem, girl."

Out the door they go, down towards the sea!

[Deathkeeper]

Clara's Street

"I can only change with a role and that's not until next week. I don't have any say in it. And it's not self esteem, I just don't have anything that's useful to you. I could poke someone with this sword but I think you know more about fighting than me." Clara grumbles, being pulled along.
"We're not walking all the way there are we?"

[Recaiden]

"Despite appearances, I'm not actually perfect, nor do I have everything that might be of use. But it's simple economics. Even if I'm better at you than absolutely everything, as long as the ratios of our talents differ, we can accomplish more by working together."
Omiko shrugs.
"Why not? There's no hurry, is there? And walking is good for you."

[Deathkeeper]

To the Beach

"Sorry, I just thought...well you're a wizard, I figured you'd be able to zap us there or fly or something. Though, I guess if you could fly you'd have done it. Easier to see a missing ship from high up. Can your uh, Dot do that?" she asks Omiko.
Clara still wishes the cat would leave her behind, but it seems the cat is far too reasonable for Clara's insistence to win.

[Recaiden]

"Flying is hard. Lots of energy. More than I generally have available. And Dot's more about knowing things than doing things. Right?"
Omiko looks to the side of her Clara isn't on, asking it of the empty air.
"Exactly. See, what I do have is all the time in the world."

[Deathkeeper]

To the Beach

"Yeah, I get it. I guess it was a bit of a stupid question. If you could fly you wouldn't need a ship. "
They should shortly arrive at a beach, or at least a sandy place with water, as distance in the Nexus is quite convoluted.
"Okay, so what are we doing exactly? Are we just going to walk along the water until we find a clue? Your ship is definitely in the water, right? And not where you left it?" she asks the cat, a bit unsure of all of this. The waves lap at Clara's shoes. And probably Omiko's paws unless she moves out of the way.

[Recaiden]

"Well, I don't know about that. One can walk and still want a car."
Hey look, here they are at the shore.
"Oh yes, it doesn't come out of the water. Well, it isn't supposed to. We're going to check the usual places for clues.
Omiko kicks up the waves, happily splashing in the water.
"Keep your eyes open. Its..." A description of her more-or-less-typical wooden sailing ship follows.

The Beach

Clara nods, looking out on the horizon.
"Okay. So where are the usual places? And how are we going to check? Look for bottles on the sure? Swim around and look for things in the water? You lead the way..." she says to the dread pirate, whom she should probably be more afraid of.

[Recaiden]

"Well, first is the place we came to unload near Inside, then a little fishing village north of the city, treasure island...
"Bottles are good, and parrot feathers...I'm pretty sure there was at least a parrot. Probably nothing worthwhile underwater, but it can't hurt to be thorough."
AT that, Omiko dives into the surf and swims out a little ways to look around.

The Beach

"Okay, I'll be here. I can swim if you need me but I don't think I've ever gone into deep ocean water. Probably would be dangerous, especially wearing this stuff."
Which by that she means it might be slightly dangerous but she doesn't want to really try it with a shifty pirate.

[Recaiden]

A little while later, Omiko swims back in to shore and tosses a moderately large fish over to Clara.
"Catch! I didn't find them, but I did find a message in a bottle bobbing out there." She shakes the green glass which indeed has a rolled-up scroll in it.
"Whatd'ya think it'll say?"

[Deathkeeper]

Beach

Clara barely manages to catch the fish. By the looks of it, she'll probably not be able to hold on to it as it squirms. She tries to hobble out of the water to keep it from swimming away if it escapes her grasp.
"I dunno. Probably an ad for rum. What did you catch a fish for? We can't stop looking for your ship to cook a whole fish."

[Recaiden]

"Why not? If your life is too rushed to cook a fish, that's just a shame. Not that you have to. But you ought to have the option open."
Omiko says with a pout.
"But if you don't want to, I'll eat it."
She offers, holding up her mecha-claw to catch the fish on a return throw, even as her hands uncork the bottle.
"Hmm. Not a Burma Shave advertisement, amazingly. Marooned, desert island, send help, saw cannon-fire between two ships, passe 'em by...that sounds promising. We should check it out."

The Beach

Clara does her best to throw the fish back. It falls a bit short, but Omiko should be able to catch it if she lunges a bit.
"Well, that does sound promising, but how are we going to get there? The whole point is that we don't have a boat. Err, ship, sorry. . Clara has heard pirates are often sticklers about that distinction. I don't know about you with those cyborg enhancements but I can't swim all the way to another island." Clara says. This time she's sincere and not being whiny at all. She really doesn't know how Omiko plans on getting anywhere.
