Default The Legend of Gundam 00C: Awakening of the OOC [FAE]

    The Legend Of Gundam

The Earth is a green and growing world. The cities of the past have fallen, crushed by conflict and buried by the passage of time. Mankind is few in number now, living in scattered agrarian settlements. For these survivors, war is largely a thing of the past... after all, there's little left to fight over. Quietly, they maintain their safeguards, but no one really expects to ever see them put to use.

Then, one day, it happens. Leviathans descend from the heavens on pillars of flame, and from their bellies they disgorge metal-skinned giants which speak in alien tongues. This is what you were meant to stand ready for, the day your forefathers' forefathers warned them about. You may have thought the prophecies were merely the stuff of myth and legend, but now their truth stands revealed, and you are called upon to fulfill your family's sacred duty.

You are, after all, heir to one of the ancient shrine families, entrusted to safeguard the dreadful secrets of a long-distant age of war. Now that the sky-born, whose power once scoured the face of the Earth all but clean, have set foot upon the land once more, you have no choice but to travel to your family's shrine and begin the rituals. There can be no delay. If you hope to save your world, if you hope to protect anything you hold dear, you must call forth the ancient guardian spirits...

    You must wake the Gundams.

    Overview:

Welcome to The Legend of Gundam! TLoG will be using Fate Accelerated Edition (available here as a Pay-What-You-Want title) to tell the story of a group of priest-pilots called upon by fate and circumstance to take command of the quasi-deified Gundams their families have safeguarded through the untold generations since the apocalyptic conclusion of Earthís last great war. Iím hoping for 3-6 dedicated players to make this game a reality! Character creation and other details follow:

    Character Creation:

    Show
    Pilot:

Give your pilot a name and basic physical description, and define the following Aspects...

High Concept: The basic core of your character concept.
Trouble: What causes problems for your character most often?
Priesthood: Your character was born into this responsibility. How do they feel about that?
Drive: What is it that keeps your character going?

Your pilot can take action and handle problems through six approaches: Careful, Clever, Flashy, Forceful, Quick, and Sneaky.
Take one at Good (+3), two at Fair (+2), two at Average (+1), and one at Mediocre (+0).

Your pilot has three stress boxes, shared among all forms of damage.
Your pilot has access to the standard three consequences (Mild, Moderate, and Severe).

    Your Refresh starts at 3
    Give your pilot one stunt*

*Don't panic yet, more are coming.

    Gundam:

Give your Gundam a name and basic physical description, and define the following Aspects...

Design: The basic purpose or philosophy behind your Gundam's construction.
Glitch: Your Gundam has laid dormant for years beyond measure. What's gone wrong in that time?
Legend: Your Gundam has been the subject of quasi-religious ritual and ceremony for generations. How is it venerated?

Your Gundam shares its pilot's stress track, but it has its own set of three consequences. Using these consequences represents non-cosmetic physical damage to your Gundam, and should limit its functionality, particularly at the moderate and severe levels. Recovery from moderate and severe consequences may be difficult, given Earth's limited technological resources. You may have to venture into strange underground vaults or capture equipment from the sky-born in order to effect repairs.

    Give your Gundam one stunt*

    *Still don't panic.

    Miscellaneous:

You get one more free stunt, which may be assigned to either your pilot or their Gundam. If you feel it necessary, additional stunts may be purchased by reducing your pilot's starting Refresh (to a minimum of 1), and may be assigned to either the pilot or the Gundam.

Pilots can get banged up and tossed around in the course of mobile suit combat, and some attacks to the torso may even result in a cockpit breach. Once per scene of combat, you may choose to absorb damage dealt to your Gundam using your pilot's own consequences, representing the pilot themselves being injured by the enemy's attack.

    Notes:
I know itís a little stingy of me to ask you to start with just three free stunts spread across both your pilot character and their Gundam, but this game is geared toward growth and advancement. While your family has passed down lore and ritual to help prepare you, youíre still jumping into the cockpit for the very first time at the start of this game. Youíll have the chance to discover more of your Gundamís capabilities as you grow more familiar with it.

Fate dice rolls can be simulated on this forum by rolling 4d3-8, which puts out the right range of results (-4 to +4, with probabilities correctly weighted). You can adjust that to include the bonus you have to any given roll by adding that to the -8Ö if youíre using your Good (+3) Approach, for example, and have no other bonuses to the roll, you would roll 4d3-5, because -8+3= -5.

As a general reminder, since this is one of the things I sometimes tend to forget about Fate myself, please do remember that Aspects in Fate still mean something even when theyíre not actively being Invoked or Compelled. If, for some reason, you have the Aspect Iíve Got A Gun!, you donít need to spend a fate point just to shoot that gun, you only need to spend a fate point if you want to Invoke Iíve Got A Gun! to get a bonus or reroll on some action (like perhaps an intimidation attempt you rolled poorly on).

Finally, I want to point out that, situationally, your Pilotís aspects and stunts may be able to benefit their Gundam, and vice versa. For example, if your Gundamís Legend Aspect is God of Death, it would be appropriate to Invoke that Aspect to enhance an intimidation attempt your Pilot is making against anyone aware that theyíre Duo Maxwell its pilot, and, in the other direction, it would be perfectly fine to give your Pilot a stunt like I donít wanna die in this machine! to give them a +2 to Quickly Defending while theyíre in their Gundam.

Now! Iím not setting a deadline yet, but you can expect that recruitment will likely run at least a week, unless I have an unexpectedly large number of finished applications pile up before then. I look forward to seeing your characters!

Please let me know if you have any questions! Iíll be glad to answer any and all.

Welcome to The Legend of Gundam! On a permanent basis, this time! I'm glad to have you all, and I'm hoping this will be a great game for everybody.

Please repost your character sheet below, and please allow everyone to post their character sheets before beginning other discussion here.

I'll be sending PMs with suggestions regarding stunts to a few of you shortly after I've slept.

    IC thread now up!

    Show
    Spoiler: Aspects
    Show
High Concept: A Heartful, Clever Commander

Shiratsuyu Shigure is the sole daughter and technical heiress by lineage to the Amatsu-Murakami Shrine. Shigure has a naturally quick mind that's capable of adapting to a lot of unexpected situations and finding a lot of unusual use out of even seemingly mundane or useless things. She also has a big and compassionate heart, and has a habit of trying to find the best in everyone, even in a rough situation. These strengths are what she hopes can prop her up in a war that she isn't terribly keen on fighting. She tends to be frequently underestimated by those who don't know her, due to her diminuitive appearance and mild manners... which tends to work out in her favour when she lays plans and tactics out to surprise them.

    Trouble: Ill-Suited for Combat

For what strengths she has in spirit and mind, however... Shigure is physically unwell and unfit, owing from genetic defects and illnesses that primarily renders her to a wheelchair for day to day use. She gets sick easily, has terrible reflexes and shaky aim, and often doesn't really have the actual required physical strength to manipulate a lot of the levers and systems on Mobile Suits. Some have also pointed out that her kind and compassionate nature also makes her a terrible soldier, and would make her waver a lot in high-stress or tense situations. But, not only that...

    Priesthood: The B-Class Newtype

... the Amatsu-Murakami Shrine value the sixth sense very highly -- a phenomenon of ascension described in apocryphal, ancient texts as the "New Type" of posthumans. The term the Amatsu-Murakami Shrine use are "Newtypes", referring to classes of telepaths and empaths with high spatial awareness and enhanced reflex times. It's said that the most powerful Newtypes can even extend their powers physically, by being able to use their psionic powers telekinetically to utilise the legendary weapons known as "Funnels".

With all that said, Shigure is... a terrible Newtype. She's of the "B-Class" Newtype, the lowest acceptable grade of Newtype imaginable, defined as "possessing minor or insignificant psychic powers, and with defects and/or difficulty in controlling their powers". Shigure's powers are possibly latent and yet to blossom, but she is primarily an empath able to sense others' feelings... but can typically get overwhelmed by them, making it difficult to stay in control of herself.

To be an heiress to the Gundam, the Shrine rules that one must at least be of "A-Class" -- a faultless psychic, even if a burgeoning one, and ideally an "S-Class" Newtype, one of exceptional and overwhelming psychic power. The actual heiress to the Gundam of Amatsu-Murakami, then, is...

Drive: I'll Do Anything for Sister!

... Fusou Yamashiro, her adopted older sister, and a world-class prodigy in seemingly everything she does. "She has exceptional reflexes and a quick, analytical mind; she's physically fit and dextrous, she can run for miles, she's cool and calm and collected, she's amazing at fencing and flower arrangements and shogi and mobile suit piloting, she's qualifiably an S-rank Newtype, and she's really, really beautiful--"

One could say Shigure has a sister complex going on. Yamashiro first came into her life at the age of 7, right around when the Shiratsuyu main family realised that their daughter was not going to be able to become the next Gundam heiress. They found an orphaned prodigy from the Fusou Priesthood, which had fallen into decline due to the disappearance of their Gundam, whose location and fate remains unknown. With calculating precision, they took her in and adopted her, declaring her to be the next heiress of the Amatsu-Murakami's Gundam.

For nine years, the two half-sisters have grown up close together, and their relationship has been defined by the fact that Yamashiro was going to become pilot of the next Gundam. So, on the fateful day, when the unexpected happened and Yamashiro was left wounded and incapable of piloting due to enemy attack, the relationship between the two sisters is going to take a turn for the worse, before they get better....

    Spoiler: Stunts
    Show
    Defeat Means Friendship
"Please, let's stop this already! I want to listen to what you have to say -- what you're feeling! Do we have to keep fighting like this?"

The Shrine's assessment of Shigure was pretty much spot on: she's a terrible soldier. She has a martyr-like hubris of wanting to save everyone, even when it's improbable. But fate works in incredibly odd and fickle ways, and more often than not, Shigure finds herself being able to befriend a lot of unlikely fellows...

When a named opponent Concedes in a conflict that Shigure has interacted socially with them, she can start sowing the seeds of friendship in them. This isn't an instantaneous process, but Shigure can find eventual success even in the most improbable -- if not impossible -- of situations.

    Miracle Tactics
"Well then everyone, let us enact Operation Bumpity Bump. Gundams, sally forth!"

Shigure's unorthodox and unusual tactics are probably the kind of stuff that historians will read centuries down the line, scratch their head, and wonder how lucky one person could've been; unused to orthodox military doctrine and effective tactics, Shigure often invents ways in combat that conventional soldiers would find pause in. There truly is only a fine line between ingenuity and insanity...

When Shigure Cleverly creates an advantage by laying out an unconventional plan and explaining it to her allies, she may create an additional free invoke on the relevant aspect. If she does so then she may not personally use any of the free invokes created by that action.

Shigure is a diminuitive and somewhat unassuming-looking young woman with dark brown eyes and hair, typically tied into a single side-braid and fashioned with a simple gold ornament at the side of her head. She's often found dressed conservatively in the garment of the Amatsu-Murakami lineage, which is a typically navy and dark grey-patterned shrine maiden outfit or yukata, depending on the occasion. Her pilot suit, when she needs to wear one, is similar to the Rei-shiki's colour scheme -- primarily white and blue, with highlights of navy and gold, still rather patterned after the look of a shrine maiden outfit.

    Spoiler: Personality
    Show
Mild-mannered, polite and welcoming, Shigure is an easy person to get along with. She tends to have a terribly sunny disposition in most cases, and it's quite difficult to wear her down for long... which would probably make a true crash something to behold, if that ever were to happen. Shigure doesn't really like violence, but knows that being birthed into a lineage designed for it makes it terribly inevitable -- she still attempts her best to be non-lethal and to seek diplomacy or other nonviolent means whenever possible, but knows that she's up against a difficult enemy that's threatening possibly all of Earth and must accomodate for that.

Shigure's personality flaws may be that she's too self-sacrificing to the point of being martyr-like; she doesn't want to see anyone she knows hurt, and is sometimes too willing to shield people despite the consequences. She also wants to see the best in people, so she can become stubborn when faced against really conflicting views and odds, especially when her sentiments and trust doesn't really play out.

Spoiler: XG-00 翼状ガンダム零式 Yokujou Gundam Rei-shiki - "Wing-Possessing Gundam, Type Zero"
    Show
    Spoiler: Image
    Show
The Type Zero is the Amatsu-Murakami Shrine's Gundam, its name owing to the designation on the systems deep within the cockpit when it was first unearthed long ago. It is an ostentatious and flashy Gundam, possessing a pure white and blue body with red and yellow highlights along its traditional V-fin and chin like most other unearthed Gundam-types. Its most dominating feature are the four sets of wings discovered with it -- two large primary wings designed for thrust and speed, and a set of unfurling, feathered side wings designed for protection and fine, high-aerial maneuverability.

Because Shigure is currently the primary pilot of the Type Zero, it has a modified cockpit block that can accept and lock her wheelchair in place, a work in progress intended to let her disabled nature work better with the internals of the mobile suit. Mobility is still a large hurdle to overcome, though, given that she can't really press her feet against any foot pedals...
    Spoiler: Aspects
    Show

    (Intended) Design: High-Mobility Aerial Tactics

From a mere glance, it's very clear that the Type Zero is meant to fly in the sky. What little material has been unearthed for it describes it as being highly manueverable and capable of reaching very high cruising speeds, and it's designed to be capable of engaging multiple enemies at once through precise and graceful movements. Not only that, the equipment that's been described to come with it make it a very potent bombardment model, owing to the Twin Buster Rifle's high output and sheer firepower.

    The problem is...

    Glitch: From Zero to...

"Zero" is an apt description for what the Mobile Suit's state is like, at the moment. One would be hard pressed to think that one has anything other than zero, when piloting this machine.

For starters, the alleged "Zero" system within the machine is completely dormant, and no one has been able to understand how to trigger or activate it, humanity having lost the understanding of "When pilot hits 130 Morale". The promises of victory that go within the system, for the time being, are completely locked away behind its sleeping state...

For two, it's very hard pressed to actually live up to its design -- the wings were found in a deplorable state, and through the decades have had to be rebuilt and no one's been able to figure out how to actually reconnect them back to the main body. Eventually, the engineers, with their limited knowledge and resources, gave up and turned the wing backpack into a separate sub-unit, called the "Wing Raiser", intended to be piloted by a second person to combine with the main Gundam. It's a Winged Gundam without Wings! You know you've failed at design school when you've ended up in that situation.

For three, it's very low on actual conventional, useful weaponry. Sure, the Twin Buster Rifle's firepower is tremendous and has been much touted in history and legend, but it's... not a terribly practical weapon -- especially in the atmospheric setting of Earth, where the theoretical outputs of the weapon would actually overload and start damaging the unit firing it. The machine cannons on its shoulders are serviceable at best, and the beam sabers are... placed on the wings to recharge, so they're out...

So, with all these issues in mind, it's currently being used as...

    (Current) Design: Front-Line Shocktrooper

With no suitable pilot available to attach the Wing Raiser to the Type Zero, the Gundam currently is serving as a front-line troop due to its undeniably tough nature. It has had several lower-grade weapons tacked onto its woeful selection of weapons, a practice some (including those in the Amatsu-Murakami lineage) call heresy: A piledriver shield that was intended to be used in a transformation mechanic, and a serviceable beam sword-rifle with variable mode. It still carries its original shoulder-mounted 90mm machine cannon and Twin Buster Rifle, attached to its back due to balance problems.

Legend: The Angel of Promised Victory

Despite -- or perhaps because of -- its myriad of problems, the Zero has an extremely persistent mythology that surrounds it.

Whispers of the Zero have not been completely lost in time, and tales of those who ride the Zero into a battlefield to achieve perfect victory are persistent in the Amatsu-Murakami's books, though understandably with a lot of romanticism and embellishment as expected of something with centuries upon centuries of ill-verifiable stories. But what the ancient sources seem to agree is that: "Whoever can commune with Zero, will gain the eyes that can see into the future."

Of course, what "perfect victory" means ranges from one person to another. Even the most hardened soldier would find complete annihilation of the enemy to be perfect for them, and for a soft-hearted girl like Shigure, discovering how to actually activate the Zero may be the least of her troubles......

    Spoiler: Stunts
    Show

    Gundanium Armor
"Sometimes, I really feel like I'd die long before the Gundam takes a scratch...."

Well... for all of its current flaws, it does have one big thing going for it. It's ridiculously tough. Even amongst other Gundams, the Zero's body appears to be made of a much tougher composite alloy and reinforced in such a way that mitigates damage to its frames and internal systems. It's an advantage Shigure's going to need to use, and frequently, given all the disadvantages her mobile suit currently has.

The Type Zero has Armor:2 against conventional anti-mobile suit weapons. This protection may not extend to any weapon of a larger scale, such as battleship main cannons or super-weapons.

    Twin Buster Rifle
"So the last time I fired this, the Gundam caught on fire. I found out that stopping, dropping and rolling doesn't apply to mobile suits..."

It has powerful armor, and it has an even more powerful weapon. The Twin Buster Rifle is probably one of Earth's examples of design overabundance, because no modern engineer really discovered the reason why it needed a dual rifle that can bifurcate. Regardless of its history, it's here, it's powerful, it consumes energy like nothing else, and it has a good chance of obliterating everything in its engorged beam path.

When making an attack against an enemy, Shigure can declare the use of the Twin Buster Rifle. If she does so, she must take a physical consequence representing damage to the internal systems due to overheating, or a personal consequence representing unwanted and unwelcome collateral damage. Either consequence must be made on the first available slot for either Gundam or herself. She gains a +2 to the roll of her next attack, and her attack can be made against all valid targets in a specific zone.

    Spoiler: Fusou Yamashiro (扶桑 山城)
    Show

    Name: Fusou Yamashiro (扶桑 山城)
    Age: 19
    Gender: Female
    Height: 5'8"
    Weight: 113 lbs.
    Hair: Black
    Eyes: Dark Brown

    Possible Aspects:
High Concept - The Chosen One
From a very young age before she first met Shigure, Yamashiro had very important and high expectations heaped upon her shoulder. She failed the Fusou lineage already, even if she couldn't possibly be blamed for the disappearance of the Gundam. She wouldn't fail again. To this end, Yamashiro had become a hyper-obsessive overachiever, and one that's produced results as well -- she excelled in nearly everything she does, and what she didn't, she obsessively learned from until she refined herself. A frightening combination of talent and adaptiveness, combined with dogged obsession, have honed her into Amatsu-Murakami's finest heiress...

    Trouble - An Ugly Jealousy
... if she didn't suffer grievous injuries moments before entering the Type Zero, leaving her in an incapacitated state that necessitated Shigure to deploy in her stead. When she awoke, she was a bit of a mess -- she suffered multiple injuries that necessitated a cast, and the doctors approximated that she wouldn't be able to serve in combat for another two months. Two whole months, at a time when the Gundam would actually see use. It was... humiliating. No, more than that, it was like her entire life's goal had been shattered. And as much as she did not want to admit it, Shigure being chosen in her place, had inspired some very dark thoughts and truths inside of her. Was their relationship so close because Yamashiro felt so secure about her position as heiress? Was it only that? Shigure was, after all, the one who rightfully should have piloted it by blood; she was just the substitute. She was just needed because of talent. And if that talent went away, would she be needed anymore?

    Priesthood - The S-Class Newtype
Yamashiro's psychic talent was without peer amidst the Amatsu-Murakami household. She was the finest psychic the house had ever came across -- rumour has it that the Amatsu house lineage had weakened over the generations, though no one admittedly knew how psychic talent was passed between one person to another. Shigure certainly was the latest example of how their powers had weakened. However, Yamashiro's talents were different -- hers lie in the domain of spatial awareness and telekinetic manipulation, a power that would have served her well with the lofty designs of creating remote weapons for the Gundam.

Drive - Don't Abandon Me, Ever Again
Of course, deep within the seat of her heart, what Yamashiro truly craved for was approval. She was abandoned once, by her family, and then lost them; she lost the Gundam. Finding acceptance in the Amatsu household changed her life, and meeting Shigure changed her life. But she always felt like a stranger within the walls, because she wasn't accepted for who she was as a person, just who she was as a tool. And that's turned her pretty icy and focused -- she could only really open up around Shigure, and in hindsight she hated that it was because she knew Shigure was safe. She was weak, unthreatening to her career. She wasn't a blip on her radar for competition.

    Spoiler: Other Important NPCs
    Show

    Shiratsuyu Nishiumi
    Age: 45
High Concept: Victory, at all Costs
    Trouble: World's Worst Mother
    Newtype Class: Information Processing, A

Shiratsuyu Nishiumi is Shigure's mother, and famed both in neighbouring Gundam shrine circles as a turning point for both the Shiratsuyu family the Amatsu-Murakami shrine. Up until Nishiumi married into the Shiratsuyu family, it was a mere branch family; the Amatsu-Murakami shrine was under the care of the Shinano family, and had a much more laid-back and ascetic approach to things. When Nishiumi arrived on the scene, she pushed forward for much stricter approaches to the shrine, viewing it as both a military installment in vigilance, and as an organisation that must present itself with utmost excellence in both religious, military and business etiquettes.

In about ten years, the Amatsu-Murakami propelled from being a simple shrine of worship to an advanced centre of psionic understanding, with Nishiumi's guiding principles spearheading the effort. The household has attracted a lot of psychic talent and has become known as the principal institution for understanding post-human phenomenon, which is further backed using the existing mythos and religious tenets of the Type Zero as its figurehead.

Many speak of Nishiumi as an extremely ruthless woman who's all business, all the time. This is certainly true within the household -- she's an extremely strict and disciplinary mother to both Shigure and Yamashiro, viewing them as seeds of success for the household before being her daughters. You'd be hard pressed to get more than a quiet, approving nod from Nishiumi; emotionally, she's just not there as a parent.

She's proud of how Yamashiro has followed in her footsteps, but she greatly views Shigure as a disappointment -- her expressions of compassion and understanding are those that she does not share, and she views her as inefficient and unworthy for the name of Gundam.

    Shiratsuyu Kirino
    Age: 42
    High Concept: Amatsu's Head Scientist
    Trouble: A Walking Doormat
    Newtype Class: Spatial Awareness, B

Kirino is Shigure's father; back when he was a youth, the Shiratsuyu line was a mere branch family, one amongst many, with not much to make it stand out amidst the competition. It was viewed as a bit unorthodox for its focus on technology as opposed to religious practices; however, this focus was what attracted Nishiumi, who used the Shiratsuyu line as leverage to push herself into the front of the household.

Kirino is a little bit unavailable, emotionally; ever since a youth, he was more focused on his development work and research, and this hasn't carried over well to parenthood. While he'd like to voice his complaints about Nishiumi's parenting style, he's pretty much cowed by her menacing, iron glare and perhaps regrettably feels comfortable in his role as head scientist in the development of the Type Zero. Kirino is the one who developed the Wing Raiser, and is the director of the R&D projects in the Amatsu-Murakami house. He also developed the assistive technologies that let Shigure pilot the Type Zero in a more effective manner.

The best way to put him would be 'trying, but perhaps not too well'; Shigure kind of knows this, and appreciates what her father is trying to do for her, but... she wishes he could be more supportive, at the same time.

    Shinano Younosuke
    Age: 72
    High Concept: Loving Hairdresser Grandpa
Trouble: Has Little Say in Household Matters
    Newtype Class: None

Contrasting Nishiumi's strict, almost totalitarian principles, Shigure's step-grandfather is a much more kind and laid back old man. He's a good friend of Klaus Takashima, having grown up with him years prior, and enjoys a game of go with him. He's also an excellent swordmaster who was famed for his technique in his youth... and he's translated the skill with his blade in his old age to something constructive: cutting hair.

While mostly retired and not in charge of the Amatsu-Murakami shrine anymore, he still holds a venerated position as former head and still lives in the main household. Younosuke enjoys spending time with his grand daughters and likes sneaking Shigure and Yamashiro treats to try to counter-balance Nishiumi's extremely strict parentage, and is very much someone that the both of them like to come to for personal, emotional advice.

He's famed for his wild and unusual hairstyles, such as "The Haro" and "The V-fin"; it's purportedly said that he was hired to dole out punishment haircuts to boys who weren't able to dodge projectiles in evasion training, by granting them a haircut known as "The Katz".

    Nagano Yukari
    Age: 44
High Concept: Chief Maid and Caretaker
    Trouble: Overprotective, at Times
    Newtype Class: None

Nagano Yukari is Shigure's nanny and caretaker, there to support her when Nishiumi is out on business or official trips (which can be frequent). Along with Younosuke, she represents the emotional support and pillar that Shigure relies on when at home. She's known for her patient demeanor and wisdom, forming a kind of unofficial tag-team with the elderly grandpa when it comes time to lecturing or advising the Shiratsuyu daughters. She has great hopes for the both of them, and hopes above all else that they form a bond with each other instead of splitting apart...

    Shinano Yugami
    Age: 20
    High Concept: Once an Heiress....
    Trouble: A Dark Empath
    Newtype Class: Empath, A

Yugami has had a pretty humiliating life. Back when the Shinano were the main family, she was viewed as having all the prospects: properly pious, and with a strong, vibrant empathic aura that let her connect with a lot of people. She was the chosen one of the Type Zero, and geared her life accordingly.

However, when Nishiumi came onto the scene and turned things around, she faced humiliation when Nishiumi publicly rejected her, considering her 'ineffectual and overtly traditional', 'not possessing the mind of a combat professional'. Her empathic powers slowly turned negative, and she became a well of hateful and provocative feelings, something she still struggles with to this day.

She has an on-again, off-again relationship with Shigure, who tries her best to support her, but views Yamashiro with disgust -- but it's clear that Yugami is a bit of a time bomb waiting to happen. Due to her ability as an Empath, and the fact that she's more powerful, she tends to intimidate and overwhelm Shigure, which also affects their already strained friendship. Now that Shigure has been chosen as the pilot of the Type Zero, rumour has it that she's planning on leaving the household to seek some kind of fortune elsewhere, or worse, sabotage...

Notable landmarks: The Amatsu-Murakami Manor, a large traditional Japanese mansion in the centre of Shirakawa-cho, the local city.
Population Shirakawa-cho contains roughly 150,000 people, and is the largest population centre in the Plain. Thank you so much!

    Spoiler: Pilot
    Show

    Spoiler: Picture
    Show

    Name: Amamiya Yonezawa
    Age: 17
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 185 lbs
    Approaches:
    Quick +4, Forceful +2, Clever +2, Flashy +1, Careful +1, Sneaky +0

    High Concept: Warlord Since Birth
Amamiya has been raised since birth to be what the Yonezawa clan considers to be a perfect leader due to his father's promise that Amamiya would be the leader they have been waiting for. He is a consummate politician, a victor of several tournaments of combat prowess, and has been training to pilot the Gundam ever since he could walk. However, that left him without many of the experiences that normal people his age would have and with the belief that everyone is scheming behind his back because.

    Trouble: Easily Provoked
One of the side effects of being the sole figure of authority since your birth is that you end up being surrounded by yes men who are absolutely afraid of contradicting you. This means he does not take being proved wrong, or even disagreed with very well.

    Priesthood: Head Of The Clan
It is tradition that the high priest and chosen pilot of the God of Swords is the leader of the Yonezawa clan, with all the responsibilities that implies. He is the judge of conflicts, the one who communes with their gods, the one who perform all their rituals, all their marriages, and generally has to deal with all of the details of the running of the clan.

    Drive: Glory For The Clan
After his father convinced the elders that Amamiya would be the leader to bring the clan from ignominy to the glory that they thought they deserved, Amamiya has constantly been pushed to be the better leader than he thinks he eve could be. All the same, he is determined not to let his father, or any of the rest of his family, down.

    Stunts:
    Force of Personality
Due to his hot temper and his clans constant pressure on him to become a good diplomat, Amamiya had developed the rather impressive ability to make sure no one speaks over him, ever. So, he gains +2 to Forefully Attack when attempting diplomacy.

    Trained Duelist
While Amamiya has plenty of experience in trials of honorable combat, he has significantly less so in pitched battle, so he gains +2 to Quickly Attack when there is only one opponent in the same zone.

    GN Sword III Long
    GN Sword II Short
    GN Katars x2
    GN Sword VI Buster

    Design: The God of Swords
It is easy to see why the tribe that discovered it venerated the Exalted as a god of battle. When it was first discovered, it was surrounded by a ring of seven swords, all taller than the biggest building the tribe had ever built, and those swords still stand today as a monument to successful conquests. And of course, pilots have found that the Gundam is an exceptionally fast one, and seems to take naturally to swinging around big hunks of metal, sometimes to the detriment of other forms of combat.

Glitch: Targeting Offline. Please Reboot and Try Again.
What happens when an AI is left without anything to do for millennia? It degrades. And that is exactly what happened to the targeting assisstence AI that was installed in the Exalted. Occasionally, when undue stress is placed on the electronic systems, the AI will go offline, forcing the pilot to aim and weaponry manually.

    Legend: The Red Comet
The Exalted is said to have first come to Earth during the Night of the Red Sky, when dozens of comets suddenly burst through the atmosphere, turning the entire sky red for three days and three nights, until all but one burned away, which was, of course, the Exalted.

    Stunt:Overboosters
Using some of the mysterious propellant left behind by the ancients, the pilot of the Exalted can increase the speed of the Gundam many-fold for a short period of time, giving it a +2 to Quickly Defend while the Exalted's movement is unhindered.

    Spoiler: Tensenkou Foothills
    Show

    Tensenkou Foothills
Priesthood: A collection of loosely organized churches of one kind or another that all defer to a central figure known as the Yonezawa, the current one of which was born in from outside the clan.
Style: Sengoku era Japan with Mongolian influences.
Geography: A large swamp covering approx. 20 square miles, as of yet unnamed, that borders a collection of small mountains. The largest of these is known to the locals as Kaminoie, and is where the Yonezawa has traditionally resided as well as being the resting place of the GN-007 Exalted.
Notable Landmarks: Kaminoie mountain and valley, the location of the compound that serves as the home of the Yonezawa and a central meeting place for all the scattered communities in the area.
Exports: Sheep (wool and meat), peat, lumber.
Imports: Metal, ceramics, grains, and any additional foodstufs they may need.

Spoiler: Some details about the clan

    Spoiler: The clan and politicking
    Show
Given how many of the other clans rely on importation to supply their fuel needs, and the Yonezawa's have an incredibly abundant supply of fuel sources but a relative lack of other sources of income, they feel resentful that they lack the bargaining power to renegotiate trade agreements more in their favor due to their small size and dependance on trade for food. The last several clan heads all were forced to negotiate from weaker and weaker positions due to a series of bad harvests, and when Amamiya's father came along promising that his son would be the leader they've been waiting for, they decided to mold him into what they thought would be the best for that role: a cunning negotiator first and foremost, but a exceptional warrior for if all else fails.

Now that the world has been plunged back into war, the Yonezawa clan hopes to use their leader's ability to pilot one of the Gundams to expand their influence as, due to his youth, Amamiya was never able to step into the role they wanted. Obviously, Amamiya has no knowledge of any of these schemes, and merely thinks that he's going to fight in the war because his world will be destroyed if he doesn't.

    Spoiler: The Government
    Show
Yonezawa is both the clan name, and the traditional position of the head of church and state. Locally, each community is governed by a council of elders that settles any petty disputes that may arise, as well as decreeing the beginning and end of harvests, calling for members of the church to attend to their village, and deciding if any disputes should be handed off to the Yonezawa himself. All of the communities in the area bow to the Yonezawa's rule in exchange for promises of security and law. In return, they send an annual tithe to the shrine located at Kaminoie, supposedly so that the Exalted will bless them with good harvests for the upcoming year, though in reality most of the tithe is used to feed and clothe the Yonezawa.

    Spoiler: Pilot
    Show
    Ray Takashima

High Concept: High Flying Adventurer Priestess!
Ray Takashima has been a pilot for years now. Not of robots, but of aircraft. The Bluebird was a scrapped plane an ancestor several generations back had taken as payment on a debt. Ray fixed it up herself, and has effectively started a small business flying passengers and cargo from place to place. She's taken her plane all over the map, drawing rough charts of the local area, and doesn't seem to spend much time in the village. Still, whenever she returns, she's always happy to share stories of her adventures with the children, or any passers by. She can usually be found by her family's Gundam: the Lancelot, looking out across the sea and wondering where to head to next.
    Trouble: I'll Show You Reckless!
Ray's temper often gets the better of her. Everyone knows it. She's a sucker for a little careful baiting and a well worded dare. When situations get serious, her tendency to run in without thinking backfires reliably and spectacularly. Ray knows this is a weak spot of hers, and can usually take the jibes about her short-sightedness. Usually.
    Priesthood: Highly Marketable Chosen One
The Takashimas have always had a reputation amidst the other shrine families for rather crass commercialism. One or two have murmured that they don't deserve the responsibility of protecting something so sacred as a Gundam. After all, their temple doubles as the village's primary tavern and bar, and they sell blessings with unseemly frequency. Still, they have their rituals, and were happy to name Ray the Gun'pla upon coming of age: their chosen hero and the one to awaken the Gundam if the need arises. This results in a large number of Takashima made charms and prayer strips bearing Ray's face or name in some capacity, but it drives up her margins with the Bluebird, so it's hard for her to complain about it.
    Drive: New Horizons
Some people deal with their issues head on. Some try to put them aside with distance. All Ray's wanted to do, for a long time now, is leave her home behind her. Sadly, being named the Takashima Gun'pla has made that impossible. The Bluebird has to return home regularly for Rey to receive key blessings and oversee the more important rites. And she'll do it. Ray's feelings about her family are mixed, but she holds to her responsibilities towards the Gundam. Still, the hot shot priestess pushes the limits each time: finding a new stop off point, or a way to get a little further out. The world's a big place, and 'Sunshine' Takashima's not going to be happy until she's seen a hell of a lot more of it.

    Spoiler: Gundam
    Show
    Gundam: RX-49 Gundam Lancelot
Standing proud atop the cliff with its sword in hand, looking out over the ocean is Gundam Lancelot. The former knight still proudly bears its white and blue paint, reapplied by the Takashimas every few generations. A host of wooden stalls congregate between the feet and the sea. This area is town market and festival ground: when it is time to celebrate, volunteers hang flower bouquets and colourful streamers around Lancelot. The Gundam's head is reached by wooden scaffolding around the sword and torso: it's an often precarious climb but most agree the view from the top is breathtaking.

    Design: Ultimate Ace Custom
Long ago, the Lancelot was the weapon of a great hero. With every battle, pieces and systems were replaced, improved and refined in support of this nameless warrior. A large number of those modifications were removed when this Gundam left service, but one unintended element lingered. The Lancelot AI: a nascent being that emerged over time and usage. It still remains within the central computing core, dreaming of a different age and a master who has fallen away into history.
Glitch: A Thousand Years of Tinkering
The Takashima clan have made frequent use of Lancelot. While they have never fully awoken the Gundam, they've drawn upon its optics and long range sensor net fairly frequently, using them to establish Takashima Temple. While they've striven to keep the great Gundam in good repair despite this, over a hundred generations of different hands working on its systems have definetly taken a toll. Short-outs and power fluctuations are practically a certianty for Lancelot, which renders its more advanced technology... temperamental.
    Legend: Lantern Bearer
While some of the village's patrons seem passive or uncaring, all agree upon the kindness of Lancelot. He stands sentry over the town harbour, bright lights from his eyes guiding distant ships towards the port. He guards them against pirates and dangerous tides, and the sensor web predicts incoming storms with a high degree of accuracy. The Takashis are quick to ask all ships for a 'Gundam tax' in consequence of this assurance. After all, it is their worship that provides Lancelot with the strength to keep them safe from harsh winds, and his light that guides all ships to shore. Surely, a small donation is worth the protection of a great Gundam.

    Stunt:
Riposte. When you use Flashy to defend and succeed with style, you can choose to inflict a 2-shift hit rather than take a boost.

    Spoiler: Other Takashimas
    Show
    Yosho Takashima
    High Concept: Moneygrubbing Shrine Master
Yosho is the head of the Takashima Shrine: the family representative to the Parish Council and Master of Ceremonies for Gundam Lancelot. The man was almost born to fit the Takashima brand of priestliness, politeness and smiles when away from his temple, and loud and boisterous within it. Yosho is not as young as he once was, and his hair is starting to grey, but the man is always scheming to expand the Takashima finances. Usually this comes down to finding some new enterprise to profit from or attempting to cut into the business of another temple in some way, acts which have not found favour with other Gundam Priests. Still, Yosho enjoys a lot of respect within the lay community: he remembers the faces of his regular worshippers well, and always seems to know what blessing to give to make them feel at ease. He likes to style himself a priest of the people, his tendencies towards exploiting those people notwithstanding.

    Buene Takashima
    High Concept: Raucous Ryokan Raconteur
The loud chortle of Buene tends to ring out across the dockland, anywhere so much as close to Takashima Temple. The lady of the family is the primary manager of their bunkhouse and board arrangements: cooking for whatever guests they have and making sure the temple's rooms are in good order. She also serves as the resident Gundashibaiya: every night she takes a position near the fireplace, withdraws a series of brightly coloured images from a small metal box, and begins to tell tales of Gundam Lancelot and its many victories in the Ancient Wars. Buene tends to look forward to this part of her day: it's in many ways the least stressful, and adding a little bit to the stories here and there is always good fun.

    Klaus Takashima
High Concept: Grumpy Old Go Champion
Klaus spends very little time in Takashima Temple these days. The old man prefers to wander, go set on his back, looking for someone worthy of playing a game or two against. (preferably someone willing to offer him tea if possible). He passed on the mantle of family head to Yosho at an early age, and now means to enjoy retirement... but the old man finds it hard to resist the urge to prod his lazy son now and then about his short sighted plans. Klaus lacks Yosho's people skills, and always has, but the old priest has a mind as sharp as the Gundam V and is still a part of the family. (As much as Yosho and Buene sometimes wish he weren't.)

    Akiko Takashima
    High Concept: Child of Spring
Akiko is the youngest of the Takashima children, and challenges Ray's nickname of Sunshine with every breath. She is seemingly continually smiling, skipping along or playing with the other children she's encountered. When not distracted by such things, she can usually be found helping Yosho: making new paper charms, giving short readings from the Lancelot Logbook or offering her own blessings to the faithful. Akiko's period of rulership within the family however is festival time. Whenever the calender reaches one of the great Gundam celebrations, the little Takashima is the first to be out there, hanging streamers over Lancelot, trying to think up new ways to have fun and celebrate their guardian Gundam. She always seems to have something new in mind each year; plays, music, poetry... it's unpredictable, but her enthusiasm is usually infectious.

    Willis Takashima
High Concept: Would be Gundam Pilot
Willis is the middle child of the family, and can generally be found assisting Buene in Takashima Temple bunkhouse. When not on duty, the boy tends to hang around with a band of other shrine family kids. Middle sons and second daughters, the youths are united by a common goal: dreaming of how cool it would be to awaken the Gundam and take them into space on cool adventures. Willis always volunteers for any job that involves interacting with Lancelot, and he generally looks at Ray's activation key with envy. If he had his way, they'd wake the Gundam and head off on a quest for glory. Around the world, to the stars, anywhere! If you ask Willis, he shares a special bond with Lancelot and will one day get to truly pilot the great Gundam. It's only a matter of time...

    Spoiler: Homeland
    Show
    Nagizawa Isle
A large island in the ocean beyond the valley proper - mostly covered with woodland, hills, and a good number of ancient buildings.
    Priesthood: Takashima Temple.
Style: Wood and stone, built around older building foundations. Patchwork, but colourful
Notable landmarks: Shinichi, the main settlement and a reasonably sizeable port. The dockland itself is dominated by Takashima Temple: a massive stone building that doubles as the sole accommodation for travellers. Upon the cliffs above the town stands Gundam Lancelot: tall and proud, the light from his visor acting as a beacon for distant ships. There is a clifside path cut to allow travellers to walk directly from the town's cobbled streets up towards the holy Gundam.
Population: Fluctuates, but approximately 1,000 locals spread across various small settlements, with 500 resident in Shinichi
Exports - Stone, Metal (refined), Fuel, Fish, Wine, Religious Paraphernalia
Imports - Grain, Wood, Salt, Clay, Fine Goods (for purchase and resale)

Default Re: The Legend of Gundam 00C: Awakening of the OOC [FAE]

I feel like I should change Leon's name to something more Engrish-y as appropriate for Gundam series. Hrm...

    Spoiler: Leon Halter
    Show
    High Concept: Practical Warrior Monk
Raised from birth as a warrior monk in service to the Five Clans of Red Mountain, Leon has always been a man of practicality. Leon wasn't particularly strong as a kid, and learned to compensate for that by taking advantage of his surroundings in a fight - a habit that stuck with him even as he became more physically fit. Unlike others, Leon sees little reason to go for anything other than a direct approach, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he is impatient or reckless.

    Trouble: Not Exactly Mr. Charismatic
Leon's a bit gruff, to say the least. While he does have a soft spot for children and the elderly, his blunt methods and sarcasm mean that even though he's the Champion of Red Mountain, the noble families of the Five Clans don't play nice. He's been able to force them to actually allow him to pilot Kaiser GENBU, but that's the extent that he could manage.

    Priesthood: Champion of Red Mountain
In Red Mountain, the Five Clans each have their own priest families, who serve as dedicated warrior-monks in the protection of both Kaiser GENBU and the heads of the Five Clans. Every twenty-five years, a tournament is held in the massive cavern where Kaiser GENBU is kept, and the Champion of Red Mountain is selected. As this generation's Champion, Leon is faced with a particularly unique problem: He's the first to ever pilot the Kaiser GENBU since the Clans' progenitor first laid it to rest.

Drive: To The Ends Of The Earth!
Red Mountain, being a fairly isolated place, tends to focus more on its internal politics and affairs. As a result, barring from the merchants that are allowed to trade within the Clan territories, very few people actually travel from Red Mountain. Now that he forced to fight with Kaiser GENBU, Leon hopes that he can at least use that to travel the world and see all manner of wondrous things.

    Approaches:
    Good (+3): Forceful
    Fair (+2): Careful, Quick
    Average (+1): Clever, Stealthy
    Mediocre (0): Flashy

    Stunts:
Master At Arms: As the Champion of Red Mountain, Leon was forced to earn his position by virtue of raw martial strength and tactical brilliance. As such, when outnumbered, he gains a +2 when Quickly creating an advantage against his opponents.

Flashing Saber Technique: A secretive sword technique passed down through his family, the Flashing Saber Technique works by quickly sheathing and attacking an enemy with a flurry of blows. If Leon's sword is sheathed, he gets a +2 bonus to Quickly inflicting a Disarmed aspect on his opponent through the Create an Advantage action.

    Age: 18
    Gender: Male
    Height: 5'11"
    Weight: 139 lbs.
    Hair: Black
    Eyes: Blue

Leon is a tall, bold young man, as expected of the Champion of Red Mountain. His hair, while often messy, is kept back with a blue headband with the crest of Red Mountain over it. Typically, Leon wears the leather armor that was made for him as Champion, with armored white plates* over various parts of his body. He wears a triangular buckler on his left arm, and carries the Sword of the Champion - a notched brass-colored sword - in his right.

*The armored plates are actually sensor units for the Kaiser GENBU, which allows the AI to track its wearer's movements within the unique cockpit. The AI also recognizes the Sword of the Champion as a "prop" for the Kaiser's own beam claymore.

    Spoiler: Kaiser GENBU, Type-01
    Show

    Designation: XD-01β, "Kaiser GENBU"
    Height: 19.2 meters
    Weight: 18.9 tons
    Power: Nuclear fusion reactor
    Systems:

    • Particle & Heavy Weapons Targeting Device (PHAT) [NOT OPERATIONAL]

    Current Loadout:
    • R37-F5 Falcon Laser Cannons (Shoulder Mounted)
    • V13-T2 High-Capacity Beam Claymore (Hip-stored)
    • RVX-77 "Shield of Champions" (Mounted on Left Forearm)

The Kaiser GENBU, Type-01 has been the prized guardian deity of the various clans that call Red Mountain their home. Built with a smooth metallic exterior with black and silver designs, the Kaiser GENBU also features an obscene defensive arsenal, with the ability to project a defensive bubble around itself and its heavily armored plating. Uniquely enough, the cockpit of the Kaiser GENBU is a hollow chamber about nine feet wide, where sophisticated cameras mimic the user's motions in order to control the Gundam.

As far as armaments are concerned, however, the Kaiser lacks heavily in that department. Over the years, its various weapons have been scrapped either for repair, or used as part of Red Mountain's vaunted defense systems (in the case of the Kaiser's strongest weapon, the Meteor Cannon). Unfortunately, any remaining weapons at Red Mountain have been modified throughout the years, and the Kaiser's operating system doesn't seem to accept them as proper substitutes.

    Design: Made To Weather... Everything!?

The Kaiser GENBU is one of the few Gundams built exclusively with defense in mind. As such, despite its years of staying dormant, the Mobile Suit still remains fairly unscathed. The smooth, jet-black plates are specially treated to be able to resist gunfire and even beam swords.

    Glitch: Where's The Guns, Pa?

Of course, since no one really had much need of the Kaiser in action until today, most of its weapons have been scrapped or repurposed, rendering the Kaiser incapable of long-range combat, and has even left it seriously lacking even in medium-range combat. Its only operational weapons, as of right now, are its shoulder-mounted laser rifles (medium range), and the beam claymore stored at its side.

    Legend: The Eternal Guardian

Everyone who has visited the Kaiser GENBU's underground shrine knows of the legend of the sleeping robot. The myriad carvings depict it in battle against innumerable foes, or its mighty Ray Shield protecting it against incalculable bolts of light and fire. As far as the priesthood of Red Mountain is concerned, Kaiser GENBU was never truly defeated in the years before going into slumber.

    Stunt(s):
The Mightiest: Kaiser GENBU has a reputation all on its own for being truly undefeatable. While it may now be missing a good chunk of its arsenal, its reputation is still held up by the sheer bulk and structural integrity of its armor.

Because of its formidable armor, Kaiser GENBU gains +2 the first time it Forcefully defends itself in each exchange.

Shield of Champions: On top of its already ridiculously strong armor, the Kaiser GENBU features a circular shield on its forearm. When activated, the shield creates a blue hemisphere that protects the entirety of Kaiser GENBU. However, the Shield itself takes a huge amount of energy to activate, and requires a decent amount of time to recharge before it can be used again.

Kaiser GENBU has an additional Mild Consequence slot. When used as a means to reduce shifts, the Consequence will always be Shield Capacitor Recharging.

The Five Clans individually are not particularly powerful, but as a whole, they're slightly stronger than the other clans of the valley. However, infighting between clans has become something of a problem as of late.
Exports - Crops, Metal weapons (largely swords or armor), Wood
Imports - Meat, fuel for technology, metals

    Spoiler: Yue Dielan
    Show

    Name: Yue Dielan
    Age: 16
    Gender: Male
    Height: 5'6"
    Weight: 126 lbs.
    Hair: White (dyed regulary)
    Eyes: Yellow

    Spoiler: Aspects
    Show

High Concept: Beware the nice ones
Everybody in the Yonhotsu Valley knows the heir to the Yue family - the aspiring Gundam priest, library nut and generally nice guy - the "get the kitten down from the tree" kind. Far less people know of the 'unfortunate incidents', that seem to tail the unfortunate souls who somehow incures his cold and patient wrath. And basically no one knows how much hate bears Dielan to his ruthless "direct intervention" mode. If it was in his power, he'd do anything to remain in carefree and peaceful mood - but it is not, since he's a Gundam priest.

Trouble: It's not cowardice, it's reason
The best battle is always fought with the overwhelming advantage of one side and full unwillingness of the other - that's a reasonable credo of Dielan. He strongly believes in playing low-risk game, sneak attacks, deception in backstabbing. He will never admit, he's simply afraid of open combat.

Priesthood: The Heretic of the East.
The Yue family isn't actually liked in the the global priesthood due to excessive (as more traditional families think) gathering of 'unorthodox arts'. Three generation ago, the family's Gundam priest was branded by the community as "Heretic of the East", both respecting his knowlege of Gundams and mocking his attitude. With the typical Yue approach that priest responded, by making this brand into a hereditary title. Now, it have been passed to Dielan. The aspiring Heretic carries this name with proud, claiming that other families lack understanding of the Gundams, and he'd rather seek respect of the great spirits and people of his land, then of old geezers of outsider families.

    Drive: The peace will last.
Dielan will follow the shortest road to peace he can find - all, so he won't have to go "battlemode" - he knows, that with his mindset he wouldn't be able to stop and eventually transform into another heartless villain. Right now, he has only one way to avoid it - solve all impending conflicts before the amount of atrocities he will commit for it stain his soul beyond redemption.

    Spoiler: Approaches
    Show

    +3 (Good): Careful, Stealthy
    +2 (Fair): Clever
    +1 (Average): Quick, Flashy
    +0 (Mediocre): Forceful

    Spoiler: Stunts
    Show

Secret art: Mechacupuncture - Because of his excessive knowledge of energy meridians of the Gundams, once per conflict, Dielan can force the opponent to take a mild consequence instead of a stress box on a succcessful attack in mobile suit combat.
Secret art: Divination - Because of training in using the ancient satelite network esoteric divination practices, once per session, while in his Gundam, Dielan can provide a rough information on geography of the region and enemy movements.
Secret Art: Calligraphy - Studying ancient scripts provides Dielan with +2 bonus to Clever Overcoming an Obstacle related to encription, cyphers or obscure languages.

    Refresh: 1
    Stress: [][][]

    Spoiler: Type 24 "Hulijing" Gundam
    Show

    Design: The ECM/Intellegence Unit
The Hulijing is a dedicated information support platform. Designed to operate within a squad of more combat-purposed Mobile suit it has little combat power, though it's value as a scout and sniper is hard to overestimate. Unfortunately, it's complex electronics became quite unstable, which brought us to...

    Glitch: I'm armed with WHAT?
To minimize the impact of unstable electronics on the prime function, the artisans of Yue family have removed all energy weapons to lessen the energy consumption and stray emissions, which could confuse the moody tech. Thus, Hulijing is prone to running out of ammo for his main gun and being left with only a vibroknife as a weapon of last resort.

Legend: There are no Gundams in Yonhotsu Valley
Ancient manuscripts, which still can be found in the technology cache reveal the horrible truth - the giant statue, which is venerated as a guardian spirit is exactly that - a giant statue, a decoy to confuse the would be attackers. The actual Gundam is well hidden in the depth of a lake near the main shrine. When it will be uncovered, it would result in even further reputation loss for the Yue family, who dare to decieve the simple worshippers. Of course, as the statue don't copy the actual Gundam any intellegence, attackers may gather would be useless.

    Spoiler: Stunts
    Show

Stealth cloak: The advanced thermooptical camouflage gives Hulijing +2 to Stealthy Defenses against attacks, that require precision (as opposed to big explosions, salvos of unguided misslles and such)

"Hexameridian" Targeting system: The "Hexameridian" Targeting system grants +2 on those Careful Attacks, which benefit from any invoking of an aspect or advantage.

    Spoiler: Yonhotsu Valley
    Show

A small, secluded valley up in the mountains - probably, higher and further to the east then the greater main setting valley.
    Priesthood: Yue Family.
Style: Jin dynasty China. Fox statues everywhere
Notable landmarks - a great Gundam statue, at the foot of which the main shrine and family's compound is build. Skymirror lake, the vault for the actual Gundam
Population - Aside from Yue family, there is a small mining town, which people drill the surrounding mountain for metals, part of which are given to the Gundam priesthood as a tribute. There are also few villages of farmers, and god knows how many old eccentric hermits.
Exports - metal, rare herbs used in medicine.
Imports - Consumer products, fuel, art objects.

    Spoiler: Kindred and Faithful
    Show

    Name: Yue Chao
    Age: 46
    High concept: Bitter old man
Chao is Dielan's father, though at this point he actually has little contacts with the priesthood, instead working as the official in the miner's town. The reason is simple - in the time of his training to become a priest, he failed terribly - the memorization of the arcane art of fighting with the Gundam was too much for him. As soon as he fulfilled hs duty to the family by raising his children he left the place, which reminded him of the greatest shame in his life. Perhaps it was for the best - he achieved much greater success as a mid-ranking official in the town. As the enemy arrived, Chao will probably develope a hate towards himself, for having to send children into slaughter beacause of his failings.

    Name: Yue Rong
    Age: 74
    High concept: The Granny Troll
This remarkable woman is Dielan's grandmother and previous Heretic of the East, who fulfilled the duty of the Gundam-priest for two generations - both for herself and after Chao's failings, yet she still retains clear mind and carefree personality, along with the acquired taste for pranks. She often leaves the shrine for days, and sometimes, weeks, speaking of living for hereself after 40 years of living for the priesthood

    Name: Yue Fa
    Age: 19
    High concept: The Drunken Immortal
Dielan's elder brother and former competitor for the place of the Gundam-priest. It is rumored, that passing of the ceremonial white robe and the fox-mask to the younger brother was after the week-long competition of the knowledge of the sutras, tactics and Secret Arts. Other whisper, that the brothers confronted each other with dreaded and obscure martial art of Finger-Guessing Fist. One way, or another, but Fa is now a backup pilot for Hulijing Gundam, a Minister of ceremonies, whiping disciples in shape with countless unexpected drills - and the biggest drunkard and lecher in all Yonhotsu valley.

    Name: Meng Zhi
    Age: 32
High concept: She's not mad, she's enligtened
The Minister of the Forge, resident mad scientist and engineer, supervising all procedures concerning maintenance of the Hulijing, and very soon - possible upgrades. Formally, the highest-ranked disciple of the Yue family, she rarely answer to anyone save maybe for Yue Rong out of sheer respect. This energetic woman have fully embraced the Yues love for the eccentric and obscure - it is enough to say, that moving all the internal screens from the Hulijing to the shrine-bridge, and instead linking the data visualisation to the fox mask was fully her idea.

    Name: Chang Liling
    Age: 15
    High concept: Clingy jealous maid
An orphan, once taken in by Yue Rong, she is now a maid and a personal attendant to Dielan - and somewhat of his regular headache. Free from any chain in command, she makes sure, that "Master" is taken care of - whether he wants it or not. Cute, polite and devoted, she's a person capable of scaring Dielan on a regular basis - though it's not really that hard.

Ahh yes, nothing facilitates gaming like... German educational tools!

This isn't the first time I've seen one of these things used on this forum, but it's still kinda weird to me. ^^

Anyway! A couple notes (which basically double as reasons not to set the deadline for your game to midnight your time):

    > I still have some ideas to improve a couple of y'all's stunts, but I haven't yet had the chance to send out those PMs. They're coming. Sorry about the wait.

    > It... seems that in the process of nitpicking phrasing last night I ended up editing out all the signifiers that Yamashiro survived (though badly injured). Just as general notice, she is still alive. (But *cough* I suppose this totally intentional death fakeout does increase drama, though, right? *cough*)

    > And yes, iiiiin the unlikely event you've not gotten the memo yet, the IC thread is up.

By the way, after the effort I went through to find a non-vocaloid opening theme that hasn't already been used in anime, I would love to hear any suggestions you might have for an ED before we get to the end of this episode. Let's crowdsource this thing.

Okay, keeping in mind that these zones are defined more by narrative importance than by true size, scale, or anything more than a rough sense of relative positioning, here's a map of the zones involved in the current conflict:
    Spoiler: Zone Map
    Show

Shirakawa-cho as a whole has the aspect A River Runs Through It.

The North, South, East, and West zones of Shirakawa-cho share the aspect City of Wood and Paper, emphasizing both the fact that it's a city (the largest in our setting) and that traditional Japanese architecture is pretty fragile in the face of giant robots. You must take an Overcome action at difficulty 1 to enter any of those zones without causing collateral damage. You may forego the roll if you don't care what you might stomp on.

The Outskirts of Shirakawa-cho give you room to move more freely, since they're Almost Rural.

All Plains zones share Grassy Fields, Rice Paddies, and Scattered Villages

For the moment, I'll just say to use common sense with weapon ranges... I'll lay down stricter definitions if necessary.

There are six enemy mobile suits, all of which are starting in the South Shirakawa-cho zone.

Orcinus, the enemy ship, is in the Sky zone above Shirakawa-cho.

Kaiser GENBU starts in the Red Mountain zone, Type Zero in the Shrine zone, and it should be pretty obvious where everyone else's Gundams are.

All PCs can act before the NPCs act (technically in the order Amamiya > Ray and Leon > Shigure and Dielan, but I don't really care what order you post in), but Ray needs to spend this turn trying not to die from falling off Lancelot's shoulder, and Shigure and Dielan each need to spend at least a turn to activate their Gundams. Amamiya can either act freely, at the cost of going into battle Underarmed, having to leave behind at least a couple of his swords, or he can take a turn to fully equip the Exalted. Leon may act freely.

Man, the buildings in Shirakawa-cho are way too short! Both the mooks who tried to Take Cover failed.

The Orcinus's particle cannons, however, are charged, unless someone figures out a way to conspire to provide active opposition to that.

Your defensive rolls will determine the success of the attacks.
