Only definitive way? I thought about either grabbing V's lower regions or simply kicking V in the lower regions a few months ago.

Robes of Blinding. As a standard action, the robes activate a cone-shaped effect similar to a gaze attack straight down that blinds, reflex save to avert your eyes and be shaken for one round.

This has been raised before. Elsewhere, one of them referred to V as "she", so it doesn't work.

I'm in the "V is a guy" camp, for what it's worth.

Episode #637, one previous, they are debating the gender on panel 4.

V has had his/her gendered referred to as him and her before. Your logic means that that V's gender changes constantly depending on what he/she is referred to.

    That's some good magic there.

I'm in the camp that the Giant lurks these forums, and once there is a period of relative stabilization/concensus, the Giant will pick the opposite gender so as to be able to make as many people go, "oh!" as possible.

Why would this even be brought up? Did you just start on today's comic and never read them before? Because one comic back would prove that they are actually unsure of V's gender. They just choose, for convenience, to use a standardized "he" to describe V more conveniently.

    Said it before:

In order for the elf androginous joke to work, V must be male. Elves are supposed to be among the most beautiful of all races, including the males (i.e. feminine). If V were female, the joke wouldn't work because a female is already womanly.

How many times is this going to be pointed out? Does nobody ever bother reading existing threads on the subject before hitting the Post button? As The Lords Breed pointed out, V is referred to in both masculine and feminine terms pretty much interchangeably, sometimes even by the same people--Qaar has referred to V both as "she" and as "Mr. Elf, sir" within the last dozen strips, for example.

So... first I'm gonna make a Fortidude save against imagining any underwearless-ness in this comic...

Then I'm gonna say that the best way to discover V's gender is to belch loudly. If V laughs, V's a he. If not, then V's a she... or a totally stoic male. Wait, Elf... that is pretty stoic... and Wizard to boot...

Alright then, fine, just check V's neck for an Adam's Apple.

...They do have necks, right? Right? ...Damn.

Oh for crying out loud, why don't we just get some of V's blood and run some tests to see what gender V is? Oh, right... comic character...

And, seeing as any nudity is blurred or covered, it seems there's only one choice.

    Live forever in ignorance.

Default Concerning "V is M/F" threads

I can't help wondering about something: when someone makes a thread with a "proof" of V's gender, they must already know that there is an ongoing debate on the topic, right? They must have seen at least one or two threads before, got interested in the subject, etc.

Now interesting fact: each and every existing "V is M/F" thread contains explanation, provided by forum veterans, about how Giant decided he will not reveal V's "true gender", how the way other characters refer to V's gender only reflect their own perceptions of it and so on.

And yet at least once a week, perhaps as often as three or four times a week, new threads raising the issue are created (with up to three separate threads using the same panel as the "proof"!).

Now, one possible explanation is that all these threads are being created by a single malicious person, with a few hundred registered accounts, for the purpose of overloading the server.

Perhaps it is a plot to drive regular forum readers insane.

Excluding the dull and uninteresting theory that the threads are made by people who don't bother reading older threads, what are other possible explanations behind this phenomenon?

    People are curious and stupid?

Not any person, specifically, of course, but people, as a whole.

I mean, it's a running joke, people, who hard is that to get?

    A.

    Running.

    Joke.

As in, a joke that runs.

Runs as in goes on for a very long time, possibly to the end of the series.

As in, you are not going to magically figure out V's gender.

If and when it is revealed, I am certain that it will be a large revelation, rather than a tiny barely noticeable event.

Some people like to debate (argue? fight?) just for the sake of debating. It is fun for them and and exercise of logic and reasoning. It doesn't have to make sense.

Because these types know they will get a response when they show their "proof" of V's gender they therefore post. The responses are of two types. Those who say "drop it already it doesn't matter" and those who say "no you're wrong because . . . "

This should not be criticized to harshly. This is a place to play, and if having discussions about V's gender is fun for people then let them play. If nothing else it actually is good for the mind, because the mental exercise keeps the mind sharp and can develop a very useful skill for use in just about everything.

That being said, I like to debate as well, but not just for the sake of debating. I like to either win the argument or be proven (or convinced) wrong. As you point out, this debate cannot be won. So, for me, it is not fun.

Still, there are more debateable topics that could be used. Seeing as there is no answer to the "V M/F" quesion, debating it is pointless.

Uhm, with respect, the guy above you just explained why it isn't pointless for some people.

People get their enjoyment in all sorts of wacky crazy ways. Arguing in an unwinnable debate is probably one of the more sane ways. I fail to see how it's more objectively wacky than pretending to be a sorceror in an adventuring party (for example).

I never actually said pointlessness was a bad thing. Some people enjoy pointless activities just because they don't lead to anything, and can be fairly fun in that regard. It doesn't make the argument itself any less pointless, but it does mean that it can still be fun.

    I use "V" or "he".

As for the debates, there were some interesting topics which, for example, analysed secondary and tertiary sexual characteristics and these were fun to read, but that's something quite different from making a new topic (or multiple new topics) whenever someone in the strip uses personal pronoun when talking about V

Maybe they just want to make sooo many of these threads, because each person making it has a 50% chance of it being true. So at the point where V's gender will be truly revealed [IF], half of them will be able to say "I told you so! Bwahahahaha!".
