Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
That's great, Oslecamo! But if you're going to fix what needs fixing, would you mind correcting the spelling of "casualties"?

Your idea was so awesome that I went back in time and had Scientivore do it.
What ever happened to Scientivore, anyway? I miss him.The above post made a lot more sense in my head.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
This thread has inspired a lolerf request from me.
Picture: Panels from several different strips pieced together into one picture. Specifically: Panel 8 of 128(Gobwin Knob 116), panel 11 of 127(Gobwin Knob 115), Panel 1 of 120(Gobwin Knob 108), Panel 9 of 101(Gobwin Knob 91), and any others that fit the general theme. Then shrink the completed collage to a size that won't stretch a post on these forums too much.
Caption: IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAND!!
I suppose it could be done as a motivator too, using the caption as a subcaption and the title of the inspiration thread as the main caption.Last edited by Winged One; 2008-10-29 at 06:32 PM.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
It's been a while since I tried my hand at motivators around here. Let's see if I've still got any of the old mojo left.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
Hey, thanks. If I find the time, I'll look into your "over 9000!!!" idea. I've done the action-collage thing before - it's a bit like a jigsaw puzzle if the panels are different sizes. And the overall format is a bit trickier than a normal motivator...
But since we haven't gotten any blowups in a long, long time, this might be a good use of the materials we have."We are all agreed that your theory is crazy. The question that divides us is
whether it is crazy enough to have a chance of being correct."

Hmmm, well I haven't tried one of these for a while either but let's see, the Evil Overlord series went over well so how about this?

Okay normally I wouldn't but for the hero one.
It should be 'a' before hero not 'an'.

Second, and to nitipick, the 'should' is simply a usage. There is not hard and fast rule. Though normally 'an' is before words which began with a vovel or an unpronounced 'h', eg 'an hour', usage varies a lot. So for ex, 'an heroic' is getting a lot of usage even in professional and academic circles. And conversely, 'a' is often used for emphasis, or simply by forgetfulness, when speaking, eg 'a atom'.Last edited by HamsterOfTheGod; 2008-11-22 at 11:45 AM.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
The a/an before "h" has varied throughout the years. Both forms are valid. "A" is generally preferred over "an" in modern US.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
*not from the US*
That's because it's an unpronounced H.
Although if it's a meme thing then it no longer bothers me. 'An Hero' just sounded really really clunky and detracted from the awesome.
