Re: Motivational Crap and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
One for which I was able to create a quick-and-dirty version, but will want to revisit if and when this panel is added to the blowups page (I recall it being on the request list).
Edit: New image from blowup (thanks, Rob!).Last edited by SteveMB; 2007-07-23 at 10:03 AM. Reason: Image Update

Re: Motivational Crap and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
I can see it fine on my home machine. I was at the office taking a break earlier. Perhaps it's a browser issue (IE 5 at the office, Firefox at home).
Edit: I just remembered that pre-IE7 versions of Internet Explorer bollix up the rendering of PNG images with an alpha channel (to set pixel transparency along a continuum from "transparent" to "opaque") -- the parts that should be partially or completely transparent get rendered as some solid color instead. That could be it.
Anyhoo, coming up with "motivationals" is turning out to be addictive.
Edit: Just in case somebody else still can't see it, the caption is "Gwiffon: The Other Gummy Meat".
Hmmm... my first two sort of straddle the line between silly and sarcastic. (The last one I think leans more toward straight "silly".) Any thoughts on whether they should be moved to the other thread? (I honestly don't know, so I'll take opinions.)Last edited by SteveMB; 2007-07-05 at 07:00 AM.

I don't know, Steve. Looking at it, my only "motivator" is a little caustic, but also a little silly. I think it belongs here.
What do others think?

Re: Motivational Crap and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
Just a quick thank you to all you tech savvy people who keep me amused whilst I await the next update.
What with your Fanmixes, Lolerfs, not to mention the reams of speculation wherein the minutiae of both script and image are prodded, poked, dissected and finally digested, I can safely say that you always keep me thinking and giggling.

Re: Motivational Crap and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
Thanks. It took a bit of fiddly clonebrush work and line extrapolation where the text boxes were, but once I had the inspiration it simply had to be done.
Edit: I uploaded a slight tweak (after realizing that "...in the road..." is a better parallel to the original quote*) and added a credit to the image margin. The earlier image may show up for a while until the change propagates through the Photobucket servers and your local cache.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
Well, I finally found a reason to register on the forums - to share my cheesy image-editing goodness with the world. (w00t!!11!! first post! *cough* *cough*)
Without further ado:
Spoiler
So, too much? Call it a companion piece for "Discretion", perhaps.
Scientivore: First of all, great thread idea!
However, I don't really recognize a difference between "motivators" and "demotivators". I mean, I get the idea but I don't think that a sufficiently funny demotivator brings down the "energy level" or whatever you want to call it. Humor and pain are just opposite sides of the same coin - a banana peel isn't funny until someone slips on it.Last edited by zillion ninjas; 2007-07-05 at 12:03 AM.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
Welcome to the forum zillion ninjas and thnx* for bringing the funny with you!
I totally agree about the banana peels. At the same time, humor is subjective. It appeared from comments that from a certain perspective, my dark ones had crossed the line from "not funny" to "downright depressing". I considered the possibility that I was overreacting and decided that it was impossible for me to determine. I balanced the potential clutter cost of having a similar (but distinguishable) thread against the possibility of killing the mood and made a judgement call. *shrug*
* It's a lolthread. I can chatspk if I want to and no one can judge me. Hahaha! THE POWER!Last edited by Scientivore; 2007-07-05 at 12:40 AM.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
"Mmmmm.... bat."
Heh. A nice comment on the ambiguity of it all.
(There was an Erfworld thread on the RPG.net forum where somebody asked, "Why do people keep saying [she's brainwashed]? Zamussels ain't brainwashed; she's in love." I half-expected the obvious cynical response, but nobody chimed in with it. )Last edited by SteveMB; 2007-07-05 at 09:21 AM.

Re: Motivators and Lolerfs (image-heavy)
Hmm. Well, FWIW* I thought "Drudgery", "Money", "Distraction", and SteveMB's "Persuasion" were some of the funniest in both threads combined. But then, I do enjoy a piping-hot cup of bitter irony myself. It's an acquired taste, but well worth cultivating. Like iocane powder.
* Yes, ROFL! ROFL for the chatspk! Huzzah! Oh, wait...
