    Spider Nest, Round 1, Part 1
    The group moves down the hall; Ferris turns and steps to the side as they enter the nest, and Torlak follows. The room is full of webbing; most of the walls are covered deeply from floor to ceiling in it, and large wrapped bundles make it look like larger prey has been dragged back to this area for consumption in the past.

    Torlak and Tharia step into the room, and the group pauses as they’ve run out of non-webbed floor to stand on. During that pause, there’s just a glimpse of movement to the west before pincers attack the group.

    Spiders get a big bonus to Hide checks in their webbing. Both visible spiders rolled 27s after modifiers on their hide checks.


    A large spider crawls along the ceiling, stabbing down at Torlak, while another red spider leaps out of the webbing and attacks Tharia. Both miss. A swarm of spiders approaches from the southwest, but has some difficulty getting between the plates of Torlak's armor.

    Torlak will withdraw an insect bane candle from his cloak, and will light it as he breathes fire this turn. He does provoke an AoO for this, however.

    He will be using a cone of fire, and targeting the red and large spiders with it, while lighting the candle on his stream of fire. Dealing (3d6)[12] Fire damage to both, reflex 17 for half damage.

    The fellows of flame cause smoking spiders with a cone and a burst of fire. Torlak also pulls out and lights a candle as claws bounce off his armor, causing the large spider and the swarm to rare back.

    The swarm of small spiders retreats into the denser webbing, out of sight.

    The large spider retreats from the stench of Torlak’s candle, but retaliates at this annoyance by using its rear legs to fling a net of gooey webbing at the dwarf. The net catches Torlak, and wraps around him, sticking to his armor in on all sides and making movement difficult.

    Ganis stepped into one of the squares it occupied on the Ethereal Plane. No movement is involved in the spider swift-actioning out of ethereal, attacking, and then move-actioning back. The rules say you can’t end your turn in a square occupied by another character (barring large size differences), but the spider ends its turn on the ethereal plane, so it’s not ending its turn in an illegal place.

    However... the damage is halved first before the roll, because I'm using entangling exhalation. It lasts (1d4)[4] Rounds, on the start of my next turn(s), they take an additional (1d6)[2] Cold damage.
    An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity.
    Freeze, you jerks.

    Khurdrum casts a spell, and a small charge of divine energy leaves everyone feeling a little bit more confident. Ganis heals him, and moves away.

    Ferris begins cutting the webs off of Torlak.
    Torlak breathes cold on the two spiders to his west; magical energy wreathes them in ice, which hardens around some of their joints. The large spider falls off the ceiling, dead.

    Ferris finishes helping Torlak get free of the webbing. Torlak breathes a line of fire to the west, clearing enough webs to reveal the red spider and several large bundles of spiderweb.

    Round 4, Part 1

    The phase spider reappears right on top of Tharia, but keeps attacking its target. Khurdrum swings again and misses, but Tharia’s axe bits into the rear of the spider as a ray of fire hits it. It shrieks in pain as it attacks, then fades into etherealness again after its' pincers close on nothing but air..
