You are the Apocalypse: Perditor

[Inevitability]

The town is dominated by a few large towers. In the center is a square with a large structure, built from white stone, next to it.

Several small villages are found, most a few miles away from the city. They are surrounded by farming fields and consist of a few dozen buildings at most. Halflings can be seen herding sheep, ponies and pigs.

Perditor marks the location of the closest village to his cave, then he heads off to the forest to try and find some "help"

Im trying to find some Mounstrous Spiders or some other nasty critters to train and then unleash on the halflings. Mostly to try and make adventurers show up so i can get an idea about what im facing.

Knowledge Nature to figure out where Monstrous Spiders would live or really any other nasty thing i could train.

There isn't really any large forest in this part of the continent, but there are places you can find spiders.

Perditor begins his search, aided by his keen gaze, knowledge of nature, and ability to travel quickly. Eventually, he stumbles upon a place that would be perfect for the creatures he's looking for. It's an overgrown depression between hills with a small brook flowing through, creating a sheltered, comfortable location a spider could easily survive.

This proves correct as Perditor notices several man-sized spider scurrying around beneath the foilage. They seem to be feeding on a dead animal.

There's sixteen small-sized spiders, five medium-sized specimens, and one large. All are of the hunter variety.

[Inevitability]

The largest spider, as well as a few of the slightly smaller ones, approach Perditor with the arachnoid equivalent of a hungry look in their eight eyes. Yet as they get closer to the druid, their movements slow down, until they eventually stop about thirty feet away.

One of the creatures opens and closes his jaws threateningly, but no attacks are made.

Perditor smiles at the spiders, "Hello little hunters, ill bet you're all hungry he says. He crouches down to look directly at the lead spider. "I know where you can find all sorts of delicious little halflings, and id be happy to help you, i just need you to follow me."

The goal here is to eventually train these things to use as guards in the lair, and to throw a smokescreen over what Perditor is doing.

Wild Empathy

The spider looks at Perditor with what can be described as interest, combined with hunger. It snaps its mandibles a few times, then stares at the minotauric monster, apparently waiting for something to happen.

Perditor grins and starts walking towards the nearest halfling village, glancing back to see if the spiders are following.

The spiders obediently, or at least hungrily, follow.

After a long walk (turns out flying somewhere is much faster than traveling by foot), Perditor spots the village. A few halflings are outside, and at least one appears to be practicing arcane gestures.

Perditor looks at his new friends, "There is your dinner" and he gestures towards the village. After the spiders head for it, he casts Call Lightning and follows after the spiders.

He is planning on casting Cloudburst over the mage-y looking person as soon as they are within range, which is 760 ft. Which in turn should increase my Call Lightning Damage

[Inevitability]

The spiders eagerly scurry towards their prey. Perditor himself rises and invokes his druidic magic.

Startled by the sudden rainfall, the mage looks up... and sees a horde of spiders and a minotaur-like beast all approaching the village. The halfling makes a grand gesture, then starts running away at a breakneck pace, screaming as he does so.

"Monsters! Monsters are coming! Everyone, watch out!"

I'm going to assume the casting of Call Lightning was a pre-battle buff, and the casting of Cloudburst and subsequent movement your surprise round action.

You were 300 feet away from the village at the start of the round, positioned behind a hill. I'm going to assume you moved 40 feet closer, which places you at 260 feet from the nearest house.

The spiders all ran forward, and their current distance to the village is 180 feet.

Some information on the village's look: there's wooden and stone buildings, but some houses have been dug in the hills instead (think hobbit holes).

With surprise gone Perditor roars as he runs toward the village overtaking the spiders.

The screams of frightened halflings can be heard as Perditor charges. Movement can be seen ahead as several of the small humanoids run for the relative safety of their buildings and underground rooms.

The spiders continue on their path to the village.

As Perditor continues to move forwards he contemptuously raises his hand and then brings it down in a chopping motion sending down a bolt of lighting onto one of the houses.

Call Lightning damage

[Inevitability]

The lightning bolt crashes down from the rain cloud. For a moment, the flash dazzles all, both spider and halfling, both monster and mage. Then, as Perditor's vision clears, he sees the house ablaze, with panicking halflings fleeing.

It's too bad for the halflings that the spiders reach the village just as they exit their home. The fastest of the anarchids immediately attack. The large spider takes a halfling down with a bite to the neck, his smaller brethren attack the remaining villagers, wounding one and killing another.

Suddenly, a flaming chunk of stone is flung forward from someplace Perditor can't see. It strikes one of the man-sized spiders square, burning a hole in its chitin and knocking it over. The spider lies twitching on its back, ichor oozing from a charred wound.

I hope you're okay with me not rolling out every attack in the halfling-spider fight. It's just that it takes the attention away from the scene's main focus (Perditor) and will make it difficult for me to run things smoothly.

As Perditor moves, the building stops blocking his view and he spots the mage who was practicing his gestures just now. The clouds above the village blacken and release another lightning bolt. The halfling is hit, screams, and falls to the ground charred and bloody.

Perditor's spiders immediately rush forward and devour the mage, then start scaling the non-burning buildings. The other halflings, who seem to have fled in their homes and burrows by now, can't be seen.

The door is torn off its hinges. Inside are two middle-aged halflings, both male. They gasp in fear at the appearance of Perditor.

One throws up his hand, and a short bluish beam shoots from it. It hits Perditor's leg and covers a small part of it in painfully stinging frost.

"Get away! Get away! Leave us alone!"

Perditor is mad now. He rushes the next house slamming into it, trying to make it collapse.

The house isn't built to resist an elephant-sized monster slamming into it, and collapses. Screams can be heard as a halfling is caught under the logs that make up the house's roof, and once more spiders rush forward to feed.

We can skip ahead if you want. At worst, a few of the the remaining halflings can hit you for a few points of elemental damage each, but I doubt that'll be relevant.

After a short but fierce battle, the village is in ruins. Some of the buildings have been destroyed by Perditor's fury, others were incinerated. Only the hill-houses remain more-or-less inhabitable, and even these sustained damage when Perditor smashed the doors.

A single spider was killed by a halfling who smashed its head with a shovel, but apart from that the battle was a perfect victory. All villagers are dead, the spiders are gorging themselves, and Perditor has only sustained a few injuries, all of them caused by halflings capable of casting damaging spells.

Perditor finishes the halfling he was eating by spitting out its clothes, they wear far to much cloth, and turns to the spiders "Enjoy your new hunting grounds my friends, i shall return to you later, with more food." With that Perditor shifts to his flight form and heads to his lair, he will rest, regain his strength, have some dinner and then attack another village tomorrow. Its been a good day so far.

Hes gonna sleep till the next day and take a 10 on a heal check on himself (so a 15).

Perditor bandages his wounds and sleeps securely in his cave lair. Nothing interrupts his sleep.

The next morning he wakes up refreshed, vigorous and - most importantly - hungry.

Perditor leaves his lair, shifts to his flight form and flies towards the village he and the spiders destroyed yesterday. He would gather his forces and attack the next village, and get some breakfast.

The first village is located and looks much like it used to. The houses have fully burned out, leaving only charred pieces of wood. Some of the spiders have spun webs in the abandoned hill-houses, others still scavenge the ruins for dead halflings.

Upon noticing Perditor, they turn their gazes to him.

"Are my little ones still hungry? Come, let us feast on more halflings" Perditor turns and starts walking towards the closest village.

[Inevitability]

Despite being well-fed already, several spiders move to join Perditor. A number remains behind, though, mostly the smaller ones.
