Ah, it's nice to have Elan being Elan after the weightiness of Eugene's presence.
"And if you don't, the consequences will be dire!"
"What? They'll have three extra hit dice and a rend attack?"

I owe Peelee 5 Quatloos. But I am going double or nothing that Durkon will be casting 8th level spells at the big finale.
I bet Goblin_Priest 5 quatloos that Xykon does not know RC has the phylactery at this point in the tale (#1139).

Re: OOTS #1049 - The Discussion Thread
Did Roy actually think he could have a Kinematics discussion with Elan? I mean really, Elan?
You'd think Roy would know better by now."When will I ever stop telling stories? Well, you see..."
That's what loyal teammates do for each other, isn't it? You know, when they're not busy getting new haircuts.

Roy, stop trying. Even if you didn't have that splash page, you couldn't shove "Science!!" (Well, physics) into Elan's head, it's too filled with puppets.

Agreed that the "Falling Rocks; Falling Rocs" gag was priceless! I literally snorted from trying not to laugh too loudly at work.

Another example of something being needlessly complicated (like Nale's classes as opposed to being a bard). Just magic the boat, it's easier.

OK. I just have to ask because that "Falling Rocs" pun was fabulous. The high point of my morning, even.
Rich, did you think of that just recently, or have you been waiting to use it for a long time?Last edited by Sky_Schemer; 2016-08-18 at 01:42 PM.

But don't rocs tend to fly rather than fall?
And if the hull is enchanted, then it is a magical airship, isn't it?Last edited by Zweisteine; 2016-08-18 at 01:43 PM.

Re: OOTS #1049 - The Discussion Thread
Art triumphs over science?! What would Vaarsuvius say? ...maybe we should add that to the alignment system, so Elan is Chaotic Artistic Good, and Roy is Lawful Scientific Good?

Re: OOTS #1049 - The Discussion Thread
I loved the falling rocks/rocs signs. I also liked the callback to the first dungeon, and the original plan to endlessly wander around in it. Before you came up with the whole "Rifts" thing.

Re: OOTS #1049 - The Discussion Thread
Ah, yes, a dash of steampunk makes any fantasy story...um...steampunk-ier.
I wonder what the relative cost efficiencies of using mundane helium versus magical levitation are. Also the engineering benefits and problems posed by each. But this probably isn't the best comic to speculate on that with.

Well that settles that "debate".
Wow, it's too bad I don't have a son who's a big shot hero to go clean that up for me. OH WAIT.
Power is power.Power I can't access is no power at all.
