Pimp my Gondsman

From the Techsmith PrC I have a Gondsman. Yay.

I have 10 HD, it has 5. Combat as a main function seems to be out. Is there anything I can do to make it less like a funny hunk of metal? I have funds to spend if need be.


(Side note: can Gondsmen actually speak?)

The Techsmith and the Gonsdman can communicate telepathically, but it doesn't appear to be capable of speech.

As for what to do with it... hm. At the very least you have someone to carry your stuff and keep guard while you sleep. Maybe you could rent it out to people as a tireless laborer?

As far as I can tell it gets skills and feats normally, although with it's subpar int score I'm not sure if that helps much. Full construct traits are a bonus though.

It seems you can give your gondsman skills, so perhaps go down that route? It should have 8 skill points: there's got to be something you can do with that.

In addition, you can give him feats that add to his versatility.

Note that both these may not be RAI, as Techsmith is from a time where constructs, even intelligent ones, did not gain feats. However, it definitely isn't overpowered.

Indeed, but you still get at least one skill point per HD, and four times that amount at first level.

1 x 4 skill points at the first HD, plus 1 for each of the four hit dice thereafter equals eight skill points.

Getting back on the train of thought: Are there perhaps any generic Construct customisation options out there? They are machines, after all - how difficult could they be to modify?
