    A brief glance up the blue lantern had left him shaking his head. His heavy armour not leaving him that skilled at climbing (and neither had the years of book learning). As the others gathered near the green lantern he rests for a moment by the sarcophagus.

    Seramal moves the sarcophagus with a bit of effort, glaring at anyone who tried to help her, this was her 'task' that she was going to do, alone.

    And manage she did, eventually, and the click resounded through the chamber after the stone against stone noise of moving the thing stopped, but soon afterwards, another rumbling, like the first time you pointed it to the green alcove, started, this time, it built up.

    After a few seconds, a cacophonous creaking of stone against stone emerges from the ground below the green lantern. Tobul and Narl, the closest, feel something rumbling in the stone floor, as if something is about to give way.

    And it does with a wrenching, screeching scream of stone upon stone, something breaks, falls loose, or unhinges, and you all hear the sudden stop of screeching, this is emphasized by the fact that the stone directly below the lantern drops, breaking away, tearing and breaking the smooth surface of the floor. A few moments of silence follows, followed by a clatter and tremendous clash as stone meets stone in a free fall.

    Mad slasher is an aberration that likes to live in the dark, most notably the underdark, and even though it looks like a spider, cannot actually climb walls. It's blade like appendages serve as it's weapons, which can be used against multiple opponents with deadly efficiency. (darkvision, aberration type)

    The chamber didn't collapse and crush them all, so that was a win as far as Rose was concerned. But now there was an odd sound in the air underneath the sharp notes sounded as falling rock struck against rock. It was like the rustling of paper or the crackling of fire. It took a few moments for her to piece it together. "Something's coming," she said, as she moved forward and pulled a flask of acid from her pouch. "A lot of somethings."

    During the pre-combat round, Tobul will pull a pouch of caltrops and toss them in front of the hole.

    She will also be Ready to declare her Dodge feat, which she then does against the big one. (Assuming that pre-combat round means we aren't flat-footed?)

    Hearing the skittering noise coming from the hole, Narl grabs a flask of alchemist's fire from his pack and moves back towards the alcove with the yellow lantern. As he does so, he warns his companions that he doesn't think it's a good idea to bunch up at the entrance of the alcove.

    the horde of beetles moves over the lip of the hole in the floor, like torrential rain going the wrong direction. They swarm around several of you as a huge spider like abomination pokes its central eye out of the vertical shaft and moves towards you with clacking sounds of its sword like legs against the stone.

    The mad slasher attacks Robul as the closest threat in the room, as the swarm of beetles move over everyone in their path. You notice they leave a yellowish trail wherever they go.

    As it moves forward it is poked by something invisible, and manages to step on a caltrop, though, if it cares is another matter, as it is hard to tell when looking at the strange maddening eye.

    Rose tosses her flask and manages to predict where the swarm goes, tossing it directly into the path of the beetles, the flask breaks open, and acid splashes out, dousing them in its liquid. They don't seem to flinch however, which makes sense, seeing as they excrete the stuff.

    Meanwhile Casper takes an almighty blow at them as they move, and while he squashes several of them, it's just not enough to make a difference.

    "Why doesn't anyone ever listen to me?" Narl mutters under his breath. "Everyone! Try and get away from the beetles! Give Mistress Seramal a clear shot!" he calls out.

    Realizing that targeting the beetles directly is nearly impossible while his allies are still engulfed by them, Narl weighs his options and settles on a calculated risk. Waiting for an opportune moment, he moves quickly across the entrance of the green lantern alcove, and then carefully hefts the flask at a spot that temporarily opens up between Rose and Casper. It won't kill them, but perhaps it'll drive them back, he thinks.

    "Curse you, orc!" she screams at Seramal, too distracted by the biting swarm to notice that it was Narl that bathed her in fire. She quickly shakes off the insects that are attempting to crawl up her legs and beats a retreat. "Whose side are you on?"

    Rose pulls out an oil flask and begins to prepare a wick for it.

    Narl moves and then throws his own flask at the horde of beetles, splashing them, as well as Casper [1 damage], singing several beetles to cinders. Tobul moves, provoking from the strange aberration, squaring against it with a steady ease that only dwarves know.

    Seramel does likewise, as Rose prepares another flask, and Casper attacks the bug thing while moving further south, his impressive reach allowing him to cover most of the alcove. His blow lands, almost being deflected at the last moment, he causes a massive gauge in the chitin of the beast.

    Narl screams in horror as the beetles engulf him and he feels their acid begin to burn through his armour. "AAARGH! They're in my mouth! Mmmgrrlll..." he retches noisily, trying desperately to expel the beetles that are trying to force their way down his throat. Just then, he hears Seramal's warning, and his eyes widen in terror. "No! Wait!" he calls out weakly, only to be hit by a jet of scalding steam from the maverick half-orc. Choking and gasping, Narl manages to stumble away from the swarm and - hopefully - out of the line of fire.

    The sudden noise serves both to distract the bookish dwarf, and to startle the butterfly up and into flight, darting through the afternoon sunlight and off into the bushes. "Blast and confound it all. What is all that racket?" He looks around, braided hair and beard moving and shifting over his chain shirt. "No, it most certainly could not be that some fools have wandered in? By all that is true, I suppose this means I will just have to go and see what trouble they've gotten themselves in to. Truly, nothing else to do!" Gathering himself, he leans on his staff to push fully upright before turning and beginning to move into the cairn.

    THe cleric pulls at the flask, the naptha spilling over his metal gauntlets as he hurls the flask at the nearest parts of the swarm. Ignoring the fact that Caspar may be splashed he thinks that the flames are lesser of two evils as he tries to burn away the swarm. That done he pulls free his longsword ready to fight the larger and more savage looking beast.

    Round three
    Casper moves out of the way while he refocuses, causing his wounds to stop sizzling and bleeding while Seramal blasts the insect swarm with hot steam! The swarm sizzles and crackles in the heat, and the majority of the bugs fall over where they are.

    Narl runs out and away from the action as Tobul swings at the monstrous creature and hits it with a weak stroke.

    Cyrius changes his aim at the last minute, and blasts the remaining bugs dead with a flask of fire while Rose is looking around for a light.

    Notes, I delayed Seramal to wait for Casper, and changed the target of Cyrius to not hit Casper.
